Crystals, Soufriere hotel review Visited: March 2012
Posted by Remi
This beautiful little hotel is perched on the hillside with breathtaking views and delightful rooms. Martin and Monica, the owners, built this hotel and have made it unique with its decor and hospitality.
The organized dinners consist of tasty local food in a beautiful setting with colorful decor in an outdoor restaurant. Try the rum punch - it's fantastic (and really makes you dance!).
The breakfast is amazing - coconut pancakes, fresh fruit from the garden, eggs, etc.
If you are a nature lover and want to experience the real Caribbean, this is the place to come. This hotel is far from all the typical touristy hotels and give you a real sense of "getting away from it all".

Crystals, St. Lucia hotel review Visited: October 2011

My husband and I decided one year ago that Crystals was the perfect place for our honeymoon. After a wonderful two weeks, we vowed to return for our anniversary.
I've been home just about five days and already miss waking up to the warm sun peeking through our curtains. Our day always began with a knock on the door offering a delicious Caribbean style breakfast basket and occasionally ended at the tree top bar after a few glasses of the famous rum punch and some soothing reggae music.
The staff is very friendly, and the owners are beyond generous. The rooms are all different and decorated with such rich taste.
I thought our first stay was perfect, but our last stay trumped that, it was spectacular. I can't wait to go back next year. We've definitely found our spot.

My wife and I wanted a property that we would both enjoy, and Crystals was spot on. I like my comfort and beach, while my wife enjoys nature and the hills.
Crystals is about a five-minute drive from the the village and the beach, so this was great for me. Yet, its location was ideal for my wife, too, who does not like to hear the sounds of cars or any noise at all. In addition, the nice, cool breeze being on a hill was a Godsend.
It is a small property, and we came just the two of us. We did enjoy dinner time when we got to meet with the other guests (who we had not seen and heard at all!). We found out 12 other people were staying on property!
The cottages were wonderful. The air conditioning was nice, as I so wanted it. However, I have to confess at times I did not even use it.
The hosts, Monica and Martin Charles, went all out to help us - all we had to do was ask.
Do have a body massage by Lucia. We both did, and it was amazing. She comes with her own table and sets it up on your own deck - what could be more perfect?
Also, the food at Crystals was yummy and a must. They open the restaurant for dinner every second night, and for cocktails six nights a week.
We will be back to this magical property. Oh, and a thanks to Wesley for his singing and the great smile every morning while cleaning our pool!

My husband and I decided to take a week off from our busy city life in England, and take a trip to St. Lucia. We had heard from friends this was the place to go. After a few days of searching, we found Crystals. We were amazed at the views and exceptionality of the property. We knew this was the place!
After booking the Papaya Cottage, and arriving a couple weeks later, we could not have asked for more gracious or hospitable hosts, especially after being greeted with a well needed drink. The staff would do anything to keep guests happy, although little was required.
Our cottage was all different shades of beautiful. The master bedroom was very comfortable, and its doors opened to one of the most amazing views my husband and I have ever seen. We felt so close to the pitons, and could see the steaming sulphur springs and the endless ocean. Add to that all the greenery around, I'd say there isn't a more beautiful sight.
We also had our own private pool, useful for late night dips or after a hot day in Castries.
Our week went by so quickly. One day we went to visit the botanical gardens and sulphur springs, then had dinner at Hummingbird. During our meal, we enjoyed being entertained by a live band.
Another day we spent hiking through the lush rainforest with our well-learned friend Ras. We also went to visit the capital of the island and had fun picking up little souveniers for friends back home.
Most of the time we spent lounging on the deck of Papaya. We did enjoy the beaches! We had a great time snorkeling at Anse Chastenet. Lunch there was nice, too.
Pictures do not do Crystals any justice. This is the kind of place you have to visit to believe. You will never go home disappointed.
My husband and I vow to go back someday!
