Hotel La Catalina - Description

Description
A picturesque view of the ocean and countryside, luxurious tropical gardens, fine-cuisine, first-class personalized services - these are the criteria which distinguish Hotel La Catalina from the rest.

Built in 1988 by a French-Canadian couple from Quebec, Hotel La Catalina was envisioned as a charming alternative to the country¹s all-inclusive resorts. That original vision has remained intact, and Hotel La Catalina offers a unique, warm and personal experience. La Catalina has become an integral part of the community. Tim Moller and family purchased the hotel in 2007, and have continued a tradition of service with educational mentoring programs and health-care initiatives.

Located on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, near the village of Cabrera, it is 80 minutes from the Puerto Plata airport and only 10 minutes from Playa Grande beach and its world class 18-hole championship golf course.

A few minutes from the hotel are four stunning soft-sand beaches; Playa Grande, Playa Caleton, Cabo Frances and La Entrada. Scuba-diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, boat excursions at Laguna Gri-Gri, horseback riding, hiking, and tours to a local bird colony can all be arranged at the hotel.

The superb golf course of Playa Grande is also only a few minutes away. With 12 of its 18 holes on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, it offers many spectacular views. This Robert Trent Jones designed course is often compared to Pebble Beach in California. Playa Grande is suitable for serious or casual golfers alike.

At La Catalina, dining is a priority. Relax in our casual, ocean view setting and enjoy a unique open-air experience surrounded by our lush beautiful gardens. We know you will enjoy our tranquil setting, friendly staff, fine food and extensive wine list. Our beef is imported from the United States and Argentina. All other products are produced locally. Many of our fresh fruits, vegetables and spices are grown right here in our own organic garden. Our Dominican chef has spent more than 10 years working with renowned French chef Rémi Rondot. Chef Diomedes and his staff are dedicated to providing you with a quality dining experience. Breakfast at La Catalina is also a very special experience and a client favorite.

Searching on the Internet found this paradise for us. It was a quiet hotel for us to unwind with an ambiance that would be unsurpassable.

The staff pampered to our every needs making us truly feel like VIPs. Also, the food was excellent and the rooms were comfortable with fantastic ocean views. I will be back next year!

La Catalina was a peaceful and tranquil setting on a mountain side with views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Our room was tropically decorated with a private balcony - it was great.

The restaurant was excellent, and the music at the bar was vibrant. Try this place for a memorable vacation.

Fantastic destination. They treat you like a member of the family, escort you to your room and take care of your every need the entire time. Rooms overlook the ocean views that you have to see to believe. Best of all, it's very low priced. I'll be back!
