Jolly Beach Resort & Spa, Antigua hotel review Visited: May 2010

My wife and I have been here four or five times. We don't need super fancy.
If you come here, the rooms are clean but older. The food is okay. I couldn't stop eating the ribs they had twice. You will never go hungry here. The main breakfast stops at ten, then goes to continental until 11 or so. Then, the grill at the pool fires up just in case you can't make it to 12:30. The grill goes all day.
The beach is gorgeous. While we were here, it felt like nobody was at the hotel. We have never seen crowded conditions in our vacations, but I have heard some people talk about lines to eat. We have never seen that during our stays.
The only thing that bothered me this time were the local vendors taking over the beach. They're taking over huts right in front of resort. They were relentless this time - coming by every ten minutes. Some were almost getting into fist fights. It was very annoying. We had to leave the beach one time. They need to get this under control.
Other than that, the water was beautiful. I know the beaches are public, but come on.

I am a travel agent, and I went to Antigua on a girls' trip for eight days. I also had business at Sandals Antigua where the girls and I spent the whole day enjoying Sandals.
I would recommend Jolly Beach Resort & Spa to those who are sun and beach worshipers. This is truly the best beach I have been on in the Caribbean. The resort needs some seriously updating.
The spa is awesome. It's brand new with all the bells and whistles. The grounds need more flowers, bushes and trees. The pool needs to stay open later, too.
The restaurant had extra charges on certain food items, which is a no no with it being an all inclusive. Everything goes through the front desk. The food is limited during breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don't understand what was up with raw bacon every morning. Europeans must like raw bacon - gross. The omelette man was out of sight, though.
Jolly doesn't offer bottled water in the room. Once you see the room, you will understand why. Go to the gift shop where they have big bottles.
This resort could be quite beautiful if someone would update it to 2010. They could give it a night club or disco for guests to go dancing in evenings.
Overall, if you don't care about your room, you are not a foodie and just want the sun and beach - this resort is for you. I will come back.

I stayed here almost a year ago, and have booked to go May 2008.
The rooms are not great, but so little time is spent in them anyway. The food is very good, as is service - that is if you treat the locals with a tad of respect.
This is a great place for a chill out holiday. Last year, our children, ages seven and 11, preferred to go back to the Jolly than going to Orlando (dolphin swim etc, theme park tickets work out cheaper), so we are back in May 2008.
Overall, the good reviews seem to outnumber the whiners.

My boyfriend took me to Jolly Beach, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The hotel was keep clean and tidy, and our room was kept fresh every day.
We thought the food was good, and the beach was lovely.
I've made some good friends here, and I'm still texting and e-mailing Ann-Marie every other week.
The staff was helpful and always laughing.
We are returning this August, and really looking forward to going.
So don't listen to the bad reviews - just go yourselves!
