Lavender Hill Suites, St. John, USVI hotel review Visited: September 2011

I can't begin to say how much we loved Lavender Hill. The condos were spacious and had everything we needed - from beach items (chairs, towels, coolers), and things for making breakfast or dinner.
The location was awesome as it made meals in Cruz Bay very easy and accessible. The condos were very tropical and provided a wonderful view of the Bay. The pool was small but wonderful. We had it all to ourselves when we were here in September.
The customer service representative is A1. They were very responsive before, during and after our trip! There was only maid service once in the week we were here, but we loved that as we do not prefer to have people in our room every day.
Stop looking now and choose Lavender Hill for your next stay on St. John. You will not regret it one bit!

This was our third visit to St. John, and we like Lavendar Hill the best. We had a villa in Coral Bay, which was nice; and Battery Hill was too noisy (and that hill from town was terrible).
This place was great and an easy walk into town. You do need to watch your valuables, as a couple other units had some money stolen.
We'll go back again next year.

We stayed at Lavender Hill May 10-17th of 2008. The location was ideal - the view beautiful, and the room was clean and functional.
Although our stay was pleasant, it could have been better. The Grand Bay construction was right next door - about ten feet from Lavender Hill's East side building.
During our week, the construction ran Monday - Saturday from 8 am - 6 pm. They were using a four-ton jackhammer (for ten hours a day) to put in the foundation footings. The room shook, and the noise was intolerable. We were advised by management via email (a week after final payment was made) that 'construction' was taking place, and that they could be heard 'clanking around' - but that work began around 8:30 am and ended by 3:30 pm - well...it didn't.
Our intention of cooking in and enjoying a few quiet dinners and breakfasts were lost - we couldn't stand the noise. Other guests felt the same. Unfortunately, we rented a condo and spent no time other than our sleeping hours in it.
Speaking of sleeping, Unit 7E was in desperate need of a new mattress...neither of us got a decent night on that lumpy old bed.
Until construction is done, you're better off staying as far from Grand Bay as possible.

We actually stayed in unit 1W the same week as the previous review. This room was furthest away from the construction, and we knew that before we booked. We were here during some parts of the day while construction was going on, and found that it really wasn't that bad.
We spent some time on the wrap around deck even, and it didn't phase us too much. We also found at times that it actually ended at 4:00 pm, and a couple days around 6:00 pm.
Besides the construction, we visit St. John to enjoy the beauty that it offers - so there wasn't much time spent in the room during the day.
Lavender Hill was beautiful. 1W was very clean and comfortable. We really did feel at home. We can't wait until our next visit, and have already started the booking process.
Matt was very helpful and helped us out with anything we needed. The proximity of Lavender to the town was a very short two-minute walk. It was ideal for Happy Hour at the Beach Bar!
We strongly recommend Lavender Hill Suites for a stay on St. John. Besides the construction during parts of the days, this place was well worth the money and made our stay very enjoyable. On St. John walking distance is key.
