WhereToStay.com's Review
The floor plan of St. Somewhere Villa offers the best of seclusion and privacy along with open areas for good conversation and meals with good friends or family. The infinity pool, surrounded by cushioned chaises is inviting. You'll want to take a good book and spend hours just soaking up the sun and letting your cares disappear. The interior of the villa stays cool thanks to high vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans that stir the trade winds that flow through the house and the cool tile floors. You can curl up on one of the overstuffed sofas to watch one of the many movies in the DVD library, or slip out to the covered veranda to try your hand at capturing the view in charcoal or watercolors. Wind down the day with a great meal cooked on the barbeque grill. Dine alfresco so you can enjoy the breezes and the views while you eat.
Villa Description
From St. Somewhere's down-island side, an archway welcomes you into a courtyard dividing its two pavilions. One long-distance look past the pool at Magens Bay will stop you in your tracks. St. Somewhere's main pavilion on one side comprises the air-conditioned high-ceilinged Great Room with an open-plan kitchen, a dining area, a powder room, and a covered veranda just off the pool, accessible via slider doors from the main pavilion.
The kitchen is clad in granite countertops and handsome cabinetry and offers almost all cookware and chef's tools you'll need to create a great meal, if the spirit moves you. The kitchen island, accented in local stonework, is set with barstools, great for keeping the cook company.
The outdoor patio features the sea vistas and green hills of St. Thomas beyond; big cushioned chairs and alfresco dining make this spot a favorite. The tiled deck continues to the infinity-edge pool, set with chaise lounges for reading while working on your island tan.
On the other side of the sun deck is St. Somewhere's two-story bedroom/bath pavilion, fronted by a lawn of green grass punctuated with tropical plantings and flowers. Two equally-sized king suites with four-poster beds, air-conditioning and walk-in closets overlook the pool and the expanse of Magens Bay from private balconies.
The upper suite, done in a key lime pie color, also features its own small covered veranda which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. En-suite baths are tiled and feature cool marble floors and large showers with an ocean view. St. Somewhere's polished interiors employ artful use of light, color and pleasing choices of fabric, artwork and accessories. The decor at this villa has flair, but it's not fussy. You can be completely at ease, whiling away low-maintenance vacation days here.
St. Somewhere Villa approaches perfection in design, décor, and view. As Jimmy Buffett's song "Boat Drinks" exclaims, "I got to fly to St. Somewhere...I think I got cabin fever. I'd like to go where the pace of life's slow...I gotta go where it's warm." Come enjoy the good life, and beautiful sunsets and yourselves at St. Somewhere.
