The pool at Ventana is the focal point of this estate. An infinity pool, it gives the appearance of being part of the harbor far below. Relax in or around the pool and watch the cruise ships as they sail gracefully into the harbor or return to the sea lanes heading for their next port. You can enjoy these same sites from the private patios off each bedroom. Start your morning with coffee or mimosas on the patio just letting the calm of the Caribbean wash over you. Just a short drive will get you to Morningstar Beach or Bluebeard's (Limetree) Beach. These white sand beaches offer snorkeling, beach-combing, and sunbathing, and are crowd-free.
Villa Description
This unique mansion in a prestigious neighborhood sits on over 2 acres on a hilltop overlooking Charlotte Amalie's harbor and tropical sunsets. An avenue of palms leads from the entrance through tropical gardens to the brick courtyard, carport, and into the Great Room. The living area, furnished with comfortable seating and accented with mahogany pieces, is the heart of Ventana.
Just off the Great Room is the covered dining gallery and veranda set with a hammock and potted plants. The adjoining gourmet kitchen features a Viking gas range and a Sub Zero fridge, and also has a private area for wait staff.
A few steps from the Great Room takes you to Ventana's upper level and to 2 bedroom/bath suites, both with air-conditioning, cable TV, phone, and marble baths. A few steps down from the Great Room lead to the large air-conditioned master suite complete with cable TV, a sofa bed, a marble bath with mirrored French doors, and its own private covered patio just outside. A few more steps from the master bath takes you down to the adjoining exercise room.
Walkways threaded through the gardens and lawn lead to the air-conditioned twin-bedroom suite, situated in a small poolside cabana separate from the main house-and to the brick patios, planters, and horizon pool, from which you can watch the cruise ships come and go by day, and enjoy the magic of the twinkling lights of the harbor and town at night.
Ventana celebrates Caribbean style with its views, gardens, colors, and artwork; villa aficionados will appreciate the drama of this vacation estate's privacy in an old-world setting. Five stars!
