This ws the best vacation and setting - I will return! Visited: March 2007
Posted by travelingblondie
I just returned from Anguilla and Cap Juluca, and cannot tell you how beautiful, relaxing, and accommodating the resort and staff were.

I was here the first two days by myself, and never felt insecure or looked over as I have at other places. In fact, they were even more accommodating.

The beaches were pristine, and the views from anywhere in the hotel were outstanding. There were honeymooners, returning couples (both young and old), a couple of families with older children, etc. This was not a family resort, thank goodness!

I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a quiet, introspective time alone, or a romantic but fun time with a significant other or spouse.

This was the perfect honeymoon. Visited: December 2006

Cap Juluca offered a pristine beach, turquoise waters and five-star luxury. My husband and I just returned from a spectacular honeymoon at Cap Juluca. I cannot begin to express how magnificent our stay was.

We stayed in a second-floor junior suite, which - like all the rooms at Cap Juluca - had a terrace overlooking the ocean. Breakfast of croissants, pastries and fresh fruit were brought to our terrace daily, along with a summary of the day's activities and News headlines.

Carol, our villa manager, catered to our every need, as did all of the Cap Juluca staff. The beach staff brought us cold towels in the morning, and the most refreshing fruit sorbet in the afternoon. When we left the beach to take a dip in the ocean, we would often return to our towels neatly arranged upon our lounge chairs and bottled water upon our table. The list goes on and on. The staff, however, was never overly intrusive and always respected our privacy.

The fitness center was clean, modern, and climate controlled. Pilates, Yoga and group fitness were available if you desire. There was also a media room with satellite TV and 24-hour internet access.

George's was quite good for lunch (yet pricey- as was most food on Anguilla), and a full cooked breakfast was also complimentary there in the morning.

My only complaint was the service and food at Pimm's was mediocre at best- yet ridiculously overpriced. After the first night, we ventured off the grounds and sampled Blanchard's, Oliver's and Altamer. Each culinary experience surpassed the one before. All of our meals were excellent - and for the same prices as Pimm's!

The junior suites had a large soaking tub for two, a large shower that opened onto a private garden/sunbathing area, that allows one to feel as if you are outdoors. It was delightful!

We also had a Balinese couples massage in our villa. I have had many massages before, and can honestly say this was the most relaxing massage of my life. It was definitely worth it!

As for the mosquitoes... well, they were not a problem the first few nights as we kept the windows and doors closed and the AC on. The fourth night I wanted to "feel like I was really in the Caribbean", and left the windows open in order to listen to the ocean. I woke up with some nasty welts on my forehead! And learned my lesson. But a few insect bites is a small price to pay for the privilege of vacationing in a spectacular resort on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.

For a romantic getaway, first class treatment and laid-back luxury in the middle of paradise - go to Cap Juluca. I have been to nearly a dozen Caribbean destinations, and never again will I go anywhere else!

We visit many places, but this one wins! Visited: August 2005
Posted by kmhildebrandt
We have visited many places, and for our honeymoon, we decided to hit the Caribbean. We went to four islands...St. Maartin, St. Lucia, Anguilla and Antigua. All were quite lovely, but my husband and I can not stop talking and dreaming of Anguilla--especially to stay again at Cap Juluca!

We checked the entire island out in Anguilla, and we think Cap J. had the best beach for the hotels. The ocean water was like a swimming pool and was so perfectly clear. We didn't need to visit the pool!

It was worth staying here. The food was expensive, but that was the price of the entire island if you are treating yourself to nice dinners. Pimms was great and by now, I can't remember all the other restaurant names!

We did adventure out, too. The ferry ride to St. Maartin was easy and convenient to combine our trip. Anguilla is a must, and we think Cap Juluca will make the stay most memorable and enjoyable!

We had the perfect honeymoon at Cap Juluca. Visited: July 2005
Posted by jmccreay1
My husband and I stayed at Cap Juluca during the first week of July. First, the people of Anguilla were so incredibly nice, and the island was very safe.

Cap Juluca was the most exquisite resort. The grounds were immaculate, the rooms were simple, elegant, spacious and clean. You will not want for anything. The staff was not only friendly, but also very attentive. If you would miss something or want anything, the front desk will send someone to your room before you hang up the phone.

The beach was stunning. The restaurants on the resort and around the island were delicious. Yes, they were also very expensive, but worth it. Eat at Pimm's and Malliohana for atmosphere (and good food); Blanchard's and Oliver's (my personal favorite and you will love Ms. B) were delcious and very cozy. Also, have the coconut pie at Oliver's - it was to die for!

There was no nightlife. This was a place to go for total privacy, relaxation and change of pace. However, if you're up for some entertainment, go to Johnno's on Friday night. The Mussington Brothers (#1 reggae/soca/calypso band in Anguilla) play there from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am on Fridays, and the whole place was really lively.

Anyway, I highly recommend both Cap Juluca and Anguilla for a quiet, relaxing vacation or honeymoon with total privacy. And, if you get a luxury room, request one with a private solarium, they don't all have it and it's really nice. Hope this helps!

It was more beautiful our second time here! Visited: July 2003
Posted by cancel39
This was our second trip to Cap Juluca, the first being in 2001. Again, this place is one of the best places you ever want to go to.

We stayed in a Junior Suite after changing rooms to a second floor with the shower leading outdoors (not all rooms have this-this is a must if you go).

This is one place where I never heard any of the workers say "no" to anything. The beach was immaculate and we spent every day from 11:30-1pm then 4-7pm in the water. The pool was never used and we always ended our swim with a quick dip there.

The negatives were the restaurants. Pimms was so overrated and over priced, it was ridiculous. The views were incredible, but you can't eat atmosphere. George's was very overrated also, and their $18.00 hamburger was terrible. We ended up going to Cuisenart
for lunch. It was much better.

If they would re-evaluate the food situation, I don't think too many would leave the grounds. We can't wait to go back. This was a pure five-star hotel.

I've traveled a lot - and this was the best so far. Visited: May 2003

I can be pretty picky when it comes to flawless service, fine accommodations, and haute cuisine. Cap Juluca met and exceeded nearly all of my expectations.

We visited in May 2003 and had a luxury room on the ground floor. We were greeted with rum drinks and ice cold anisette towels to wipe our faces.

Upon being shown our room and ensuring it was adequate, we were given a platter of hour d'ouvres including salmon, crab, prosciutto, etc... We also had a stocked mini bar with delicious Anguillan rum, but the bottle of wine waiting for us in the room was pretty bad - we threw it out after one sip.

The room was simple but luxurious and just what we expected based on the pictures and descriptions. There were very few bugs even when we left the doors open. The bathroom was large with double sinks and a huge two-person tub separate from the open shower area. The entire wall was glass so we could look out into the private garden area.

The service was phenomenal. There was only one minor exception to that which involved waiting over ten minutes one night for a ride back to our villa, but I consider that minor in the grand scheme. One employee heard that I had a little sunburn and knocked on our door with a fresh cut plate of aloe leaves and some friendly advice on how to use it to relieve the burn! This was highly appreciated and not considered an intrusion at all.

The beach was so beautiful that I won't even say anymore. It is worth noting though that the end of the beach close to the restaurant (low villa #s) tends to be very calm, while the further end (high villa #s) is rougher so make your villa requests accordingly.

I just can't complain about the food here. Yes, it was very expensive but top of the line. We had one lunch that was mediocre but every dinner at Kemia and Pimm's was an experience we did not want to end.

My opinion is that this is about as good as it gets without taking out a second mortgage. If you are the kind of person who comes looking for problems to complain about then you won't be satisfied anywhere.

But if you accept that minor flaws may arise even in a paradise as lovely as Cap Juluca, and accept these occasional issues with grace and understanding, you will have an unforgettable vacation with memories that you will cherish for a long time to come.

Cap Juluca is a beautiful resort- it just needs some updating. Visited: May 2003
Posted by ten
My husband and I stayed three nights. We were on Anguilla for eight nights- but only stayed here for the last three.

The resort was as beautiful as you see in pictures, the crescent shaped beach lined with white villas was breathtaking. However, I felt that the resort was too spread out. There were 19 villas lining the beach, and the more expensive pool suites were at the end- the farthest from the main house. I guess guests were paying for the seclusion.

A bellman could show up atyour villa in a golfcart to drive you to the main house or to dinner if you're feeling lazy. Upon arrival at the resort, we were shown to an air conditioned lounge and offered a rum punch and a cold towel. The rooms didn't have keys, but there was a safe in the closet.

We stayed in a luxury room- in villa #6 which was next to a restaurant (George's). It was a little noisy. The luxury room was basically the lowest category and not a huge room. There was no TV or alarm clock- the birds woke us every morning at sunrise. The room did have a complimentary stocked mini bar (only the first round was free). A full sized bottle of local rum was also complimentary.

The terrace was large. This was where the complimentary continental breakfast was served each morning. The doors to the terrace were not the traditional sliding glass doors you find in most hotels. These were heavy, dark, wood doors. You either kept the doors closed or completely open to view the ocean.

The rooms were so close to the beach that we could hear the waves crashing from our bed at night. The bathroom was a little cramped and was showing signs of age. The shower and tub were a little rusty and the sink faucets were pretty cheesy looking. I was a little disappointed. Even as the lowest category of rooms, this was not cheap, and I expected perfection.

Also, the shower wasn't designed well, and water would flood the bathroom floor every time. The bathroom had a private solarium where you walk through a glass door on the other side of the shower -and you were outside. It was kind of cool, but not really useful for anything- except drying wet bathing suits.

The restaurants were exceptional. George's was great for lunch on the beach. Pimms and Kemia offered fine dining at night- right on the water. The beach was beautiful. However, they allowed water skiing close to the beach, so we couldn't swim too far out or we could get run over. The water was fairly calm, but, not good for snorkeling. The beach service wasn't that attentive. They did serve sorbet every day at 3:45 pm.

Overall, Cap Juluca was a great resort- if you don't have anything to compare it to. We stayed five nights at another resort and liked it better in comparison.

It was pure bliss. Visited: April 2003

My boyfriend and I stayed at Cap Juluca in early May of last year. It was truly the most amazing resort I have stayed at. Everything was perfect.

The beach was amazing (all of the beaches on Anguilla were breathtaking). The room was incredible -- the whole wall opened up to the ocean. You could lie in bed, and look out over the deep blue sea. They served breakfast every day on our veranda. All of the staff were wonderful.

The food at both Pimms and the attached Kemia restaurant/bar (which serves tapas) was wonderful. If you go early, you can sit at the edge right over the water and watch fish swim by. Malliohana's restaurant may have had better food, but was more pricy.

There was a restaurant at Cove Castles was the one we deemed the best. Straw Hat has the best atmosphere (the name escapes me). For a great and less expensive meal, try E's Oven. It was not on the water, but the food was delicious and reasonably priced.

The only thing we didn't like about Cap Juluca was George's -- it was overpriced and just not that good. The West Indian barbecue buffet wasn't so hot at all (they did it weekly). Lunch was also not great. We liked to go to Smokey's next door for lunch (great ribs). We much prefered that to George's. Outside of that though, everything else at Cap Juluca was truly perfect.

It was a quiet resort. Guests put the flag down on their beach umbrella and the staff would bring them a drink. The water was so beautiful. We could just sit there all day and be entirely content.

It was an expensive place, but truly worth every penny. When you are here, you forget the rest of the world exists.

Don't bother if you have Children Visited: March 2003
Posted by wvick
Cap Juluca is a very popular resort and after three attempts, we finally made a provisional booking for late March / early April 2003. All information on the hotel states that children are welcome after March 15th but now we have been told that it is always at the managers discretion... this time they said no. The information came to us too late and we have multiple travel arrangements in place and now the need to find a hotel with short-notice avilability. I am dissapointed that the hotel has refused my daughter, but accept that is their policy. However I am furious that they took days after a reservation was made to refuse the booking via my agent. Having visited many of the Caribbean's top hotels in The Bahames, Turks and Caicos, Antigua, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada (all with my daughter), I can simply say that this is the poorest reservation management I have experienced. I was not surprised to see someone elses comment on poor management. I hope CJ does not fall on hard times in the future as I am sure they will not turn away business then. Personally, I will be trying to stay there until the management changes.

It was relaxing, comfortable and truly perfect in every way. The food was among the best I've eaten in the Caribbean and the staff was well trained and very attentive.

What an absolutely amazing place! Visited: November 2002

My husband and I went to Cap Juluca on our honeymoon. We stayed eight days. It was the most beautiful place I had ever seen!

When we first arrived, we were stunned at how blue and clear the ocean was and how white and powdery the sand was -- just like the photos. The white stucco moorish villas outlining the beach were absolutely breathtaking.

The food was amazing, the people were very friendly, and the rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. It is a beautiful place if your looking for seclusion and quiet. We will definitely go back!

My wife and I went for 10 days for our honeymoon. Between us, we have been to 12 other islands and this was the best trip we have ever had. C

ap Juluca and Anquilla were unbelievable - friendly people, great rooms and service. The resturants were terrific. They were expensive, but you do get what you pay for. We looked at the other luxury resorts when we were there, Cap Juluca had the best beach and view.

Beautiful resort. Problems with management. Visited: July 2002
Posted by mlleq
The Resort was just about everything that was promised. The view, beach, and the 3 restaurants were very good. At first everything was wonderful. We enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace, twice daily maid service, beach service with sorbet, and afternoon tea.

Then we noticed water dripping from the air conditioner vent. This ruined a blouse that was in the closet. We notified management but got the run around for the rest of our stay. They said they fixed it but this dripping continued. They were full and so we could not be moved. They did credit us one night, but this was after many calls about the situation. Management did not handle this situation appropriately, and never seemed concerned about this.

Cap Juluca is a stunning five-star property. Visited: June 2002

My husband and I went to Cap Juluca in June of 2002. It was by far the best hotel we have stayed at and we travel extensively in the Caribbean several times a year.

The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The room was breathtaking, as was the view from our veranda.

The food was also excellent - especially George's. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who desires absolute luxury.

We've been to several Caribbean islands and stayed at some great resorts (Point Grace, Little Dix Bay,etc.), but I have to say this beat them all!

This resort had excellent rooms with exquisite service. The rooms here were spacious and elegantly furnished, and had that comfortable Caribbean air to them. The staff, as well as the people in general on this island, were very helpful and friendly.

The facilities here were top notch (the snorkeling trip was great!) and we never wanted for anything. Breakfast on our patio every morning was great - it was always on time and always hot. Also, while on the beach, we were treated to afternoon sorbet and we were brought water on a regular basis (or anything else we wished to order).

Although it was expensive, the food here was also very good. We didn't eat at Pimms, but we did have appetizers at Kemia and lunch regularly at Georges. We were never disappointed. In terms of cost, the food at this resort was pretty on par with the rest of the resorts and restaurants in the area. Expect to pay for food, but most of what we had was extremely good.

The beach here was absolutely beautiful and we got a wonderful view of St. Martin, as well. You can also ski in the area in front of the hotel.

We absolutely loved this island, and I have to say, it was my favorite and we will definitely be coming back. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I felt pampered and rested and I really didn't want to leave. I can't say enough good things about this resort.

This hotel is so nice, it's unbelievable.

The beach of the hotel is so wonderful, you're really walking on white powder. The sea is also very tranquil.

The food in this hotel couldn't be better. George is really nice setting for lunch, and at Pimm's you can get the best food in a romantic setting.

I have a downstairs luxury room in villa 19 (the last villa). The room is very nice and spacious with a big terrace. The terraces are very private and only a few feet from the wonderful beach.

The only negative point is the price. The hotel is very expensive. Also, the food is very expensive. For example, $45 for a Bouillabaise is quite a lot). But, I can't say that Cap Juluca isn't worth such a price.

Disappointed Visited: February 2002
Posted by DianeRelan
We were booked for 10 days in a jr. suite for our honeymoon. We had requested a second floor room that they weren't able to guarantee, but they did assure us that all jr. suites had PRIVATE terraces. Privacy was our top reason for choosing Cap Juluca.

We ended up on the first floor and were not even bothered by it...it was too beautiful! We were set on returning for our anniversary. Until, after a few days, we were horrified to see a member of the staff walking through the bushes just feet from our terrace and then another staff member and an hour later, another one. This last one even waved at me. Needless to say, we felt we had no privacy after that. We spoke to management the next morning to see about getting a second floor room. For the next 24 hours, two different assistant managers gave us the run-around. Finally, we called another resort and booked a room with them.

I called the front desk and let them know we were checking out. Ten minutes later the manager called and said he had just received a cancellation for a second floor room if we still wanted it. We left and are glad that we did. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay elsewhere.

Aside from our major problem with management, Cap Juluca was pretty good. The service from the staff was excellent. The beach was near perfect. The mosquitoes in our room were terrible (a problem we didn’t have at the other resort). So if you want to splurge on a pool suite and hope you don’t need management for any reason, then I would recommend staying here.

This is the most unbelievable place I have ever seen.

Breakfast on the terrace is delightful. The staff couldn't be any nicer. This is the ultimate place for relaxation.

The restaurants around the island are beautiful and the atmosphere is as good as the food if you go to the right places. Just be prepared - everything is EXPENSIVE. Cap Juluca is worth every penny and definitely the place to stay in Anguilla. I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I have traveled to many Caribbean Islands and found Anguilla to be the most stunning we have ever visited. Even more so was the fact that Cap Juluca more than fulfilled every expectation.

The villas were spectacular, the beach was like powdered sugar with the clearest blue water and the food and staff were amazing! At the end of our stay we were asked to fill out a comment card and we were so enchanted with every aspect that we could not think of one thing that required improvement. Every aspect was perfect. We will return!

This is one of the most spectacular resorts in the Caribbean. The service was impeccable and the food at the resort and throughout the island was superb. It's really the prototype for what you’d envision a luxury getaway to be in the Caribbean.

Breakfast delivered in the morning and set up on your patio is a perfect start to the day. Each patio overlooks a crescent beach that is gorgeous white powder with chairs, umbrellas and bottled water provided. George’s for lunch on the beach is excellent. Be sure to hit some of the restaurants outside the resort, too (Blanchards, Mangos, etc.). Hobie Cats and other toys are available if you like and the scuba diving is solid.

We visited the other top resorts on the island and believe Cap Juluca is overall the best on the island and one of the best in the Caribbean.
