My family and I just returned from an eight-night stay at the Malliouhana, and I am going to return in April 2009. What a great place.
Everyone, from the beach staff to the wonderful ladies in the children's area, were top notch. We have a three-year-old who could not get enough of the pirate ship and the slide (along with us adults).
If you have children, you must stay here. There is so much to do with no extra cost to you. The food was expensive, but where in the Caribbean is it not?
I have been to many islands, as we explore different vacation spots, and I have yet to return to the same place. The Malliouhana and the island of Anguilla will be the first.
By the way, take a private boat to the island, not the ferry. It is so much easier if you are traveling with children. We used a company called Fun Time, and highly recommend them. |

We just returned from our trip to Anguilla where we stayed at the Malliouhana. I can't say enough good things about the service, people, beach and pools.
Each member of the staff was friendly and helpful. Our children, ages five and nine, were welcomed with open arms, and the kids' swimming area with the Pirate pool and slide made the vacation a special treat for them. When we asked if there were any beach toys, a whole bag of shovels, pails, etc. were brought out for the kids. They did have some snorkel equipment, but we brought our own.
The Malliouhana also provided other boating activities and we took advantage of the motor boat choosing to ride on the "banana" being pulled behind it. Sunfish were also available at no cost, too.
The food, particularly at the beach cafe, was delicious. The main restaurant wasn't great for kids. They had a strange kids dining time from 6-7 but didn't provide a full menu for adults at that time. So, we went and explored some other fabulous restaurants on the island.
The rooms were bright, clean and big with great bathrooms all decked out in marble. There were small refrigerators in the rooms (mini bar) and they did accept credit cards as well.
Ask about their free boat rides to snorkeling areas on Wednesday morning too.
The Malliouhana was not inexpensive, but we are saving up and plan on returning again and again. |

Sure, the beach is more convenient at Cap Jaluca, and at Cove Castles for that matter. And, yes, it is easier to get a discounted deal anywhere else on the island, if not planet. But if you like privacy, subtle top-notch service, and the feel of being at an "exclusive club", there's absolutely nothing like Malliouhana. The Pirate Ship play area is quite an addition for kids.
The most frequently asked question at the bar was "How many times have you stayed here?". It seemed like 90% were repeat visitors. |

We had a wonderful 10 days at Malliouhana.
The rooms were very pleasant. There was no refrigerator or a television. The bathrooms were well appointed and there was a nice terrace overlooking the beach, where we always had breakfast.
The main restaurant was excellent for dinner. The wine list was extensive and the service was good. We tried a few other restaurants on the islands which were rated in many travel magazines and found the Malliouhana food to be right up there.
We took our children, although this hotel was better geared to adults who wanted a quiet holiday. The beach was wonderful, with parasols, beach chairs and towels all laid out promptly when you arrive by very helpful staff.
Although there was a Childrens Club, it was limited to a play area and a pool with some slides. There were no organized activities, which our kids found disappointing. However, they did provide masks and flippers and some limited water sports, though it was never very evident when we were there.
This hotel did not accept credit cards which I did found slightly frustrating in 2001 . I kept feeling I had to run a total in my head day by day to ensure we didn't go over the cash mountain I had bring along.
We will go back, I am sure. |

We have travelled all over the Caribbean, but have never found a place more excellent than the Malliouhana.
They offer superb service, excellent cuisine, spectacular accommodations, beautiful beaches and wonderful people - all the reasons we return year after year to refresh and renew ourselves.
Our compliments to the owners and staff for always making our stay so enjoyable. |

Malliouhana is by far one of the nicest hotels in the Caribbean. It has every amenity you could possibly need. The concierge desk was wonderful, rooms were huge and the views were amazing.
The restaurant overlooks the water with great food. The beach was the nicest on the island next to Shoal Bay east. The staff were ready to meet your every need. Yes, I agree it's pricey but well worth the money, you could not ask for more. |

We have stayed here twice in the last three years and find it fabulous each time. The whole island has a charm and the people are most helpful. Here at Malliouhana we found the evenings particularly relaxing. When sitting in the bar or lounge, the fragrence of the imported vanilla candles seemed very exotic.

We stayed at the hotel after an 8 night stay at Little Dix Bay. The place is wonderful, the service is excellent, and overall it is our favorite place in the Caribbean.
The bar is a great place to relax after a day in the sun. The food is excellent. We cannot say enough about this hotel. We went to Cap Juluca for breakfast and found Malliouhana to be much nicer than Cap Juluca. We will return as often as we can. |
