Description:

Lloyd’s Guest House first opened its doors in July of 1959 as a 10-room guest house, built by owner and manager David S. Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd, a successful general contractor, realized the need for Anguilla to have tourist accommodations during his years of involvement with the Federation of West Indies in the late 50s and early 60s. With no electricity and no telephone system on the island, Lloyd built the guest house to be a full service establishment that would provide three home-cooked meals a day to guests, as there were no restaurants on island. All for the price of US $8.00 per day!

The small inn grew to 12 rooms in 1960 and 14 rooms by the mid 70s. But despite the bigger facilities, Lloyd's has remained true to its roots over the past 40 years. Mr. Lloyd's wife, Vida, took over as the manager of the property when David passed away in 1989, and along with their children David and Christine, Mrs. Lloyd has kept the same family atmosphere at the inn, which continues to charm guests.

Lloyd’s Guest House is a slice of Anguillian history and culture. The original architecture is intact and is a reflection of tradition and simplicity. A spacious living room/lounge segues into a smaller dining room where people from all backgrounds and cultures meld, a feat made easy by old-fashioned, family-style dining.

The guest house sits atop Crocus Hill and is a stone’s throw from the capital, Crocus Bay and Little Bay (two of the many beaches). The long, breezy corridor that abuts the living room opens up to a panoramic view of The Valley and sea at the eastern end of the island. The vantage positioning of Lloyd’s also offers glimpses into surrounding villages, and keeps one attuned to the sounds and rhythms of island life.
