Ferryboat Inn - Anguilla

If convenience is what you're after, you can't go wrong with Ferryboat, which is in walking distance (or below-the-minimum taxi distance if you have bags to carry) from the ferries that travel regularly between Anguilla and St. Martin.

But don't picture something "urbanized." The charming Ferryboat Inn is located on a beautiful stretch of beach from which you can watch the ferries and other vessels, the twinkle of lights from St. Martin, or the lovely calm waves lapping up on the pure white sand. From a point just west of the inn, you can wade out to a separate little island for swimming and snorkeling - an adventure that children seem to love.

Owner Marjorie MacClean has created a quiet, comfortable little outpost, and reasonably priced. Marjorie handles the rooms while Christian (Marjorie's son) runs the restaurant, a nice seaside eatery that serves local fish and other dishes for lunch and dinner.

The apartments are nicely furnished, very clean, with well-equipped kitchens, porches with tables and chairs and TVs. They vary in size depending on your party, but have views of the sea - some rooms are better than others. They are also well located for exploring the island, just a short ride to town and shopping and to some other wonderful beaches. A great place for a family vacation or a quiet getaway.
