My new wife and I honeymooned at Pineapple Beach the first two weeks of September. This hotel had the most friendly staff of any hotel I have ever stayed in. They were constantly asking about our day, how we were enjoying Antigua, etc.
The food at the hotel was brilliant. All the food - apart from the breakfast and snack bar - was a la cart, which changed every day we were here with plenty of choices. My hat comes off for Peter, the head chef. All food was beautiful.
The room was great . We paid an extra supplement for a honeymoon package, and it was well worth it. On arrival, there was a bottle of rum, champagne on ice, fruit in the fridge, and flowers. They really made us feel special.
We had a garden view room, with a view of the ocean and beach, too. We had a kingsized bed, which was very comfy, a big bathroom, and a large balcony - what more can I say?
The hotel's beach was stunning - to say the least. The crystal blue sea mixed with a golden sand beach was absolutely breathtaking. Close your eyes and picture it - it was just like a dream.
You must go to the Outhouse, the views were amazing, and the ribs were great. Special thanks to Rodney and Manon, who were holding the fort for Mary while she was away. Lastly, special thanks to Richard, the head of security. He was very friendly and helpful. We are even sending him some ribena over to show our thanks!
It was the best holiday ever. Don't just take my word for it - come here yourself! |

It was absolutely wonderful! Visited: August 2002 |

My sister and I stayed here for one week. One week was not long enough!
It was beautiful - everything from the scenery to the people. There were a lot of friendly staff...and I can honestly say that our stay was made all the better due to them. Junior made a great omelette...and had a pretty good vollyball serve, too! Enough cannot be said about Tony. Beach volleyball was a blast, and his energy was contagious!
The food was wonderful. I am a picky eater, and I had absolutely no complaints! Since we were here during off season, it was pretty quiet. But we found that we liked it that way!
I would recommend Pineapple Beach Resort to everyone. We can't wait to get back. |

It was our best vacation yet! Visited: July 2002 |

My husband and I escaped to Antigua this month for eight days. Truth be told, we originally booked it for five days, but when the fifth day came, we just couldn’t bring ourselves to pack and leave! So here you go… to all who are in the process of researching resorts in the Antigua area - I have outlined the details of our trip.
Airport -We landed on time and were surprised at how quickly we got our luggage. Our pre-arranged cab was waiting for us outside. We arrived at Pineapple Beach in 25 minutes flat.
Check In - Check in normally was 3:00 p.m., however July was their down season, so our room was ready when we arrived at 12:30.
Room – We requested a beach front room. We had a small patio on the first level with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. The ocean view rooms were on the other side of the resort with no beach and lots of rocks. If you're looking to have your feet in the sand the second you leave your room, then book a beach front. You won't be disappointed.
Our room was furnished with wicker chairs, a king sized bed, and a couple of nice sized closets. Our room also had terracotta floors, and the air conditioner kept our room chilled the entire time. The TV worked okay - we had the main channels – ESPN, CNN..etc. It was a bit snowy, though. We also had a blowdryer, but I did not see an iron. There was hot water and the water pressure was just fine.
Restaurants – There was the main dining area – the Topaz Restaurant. They had a variety of choices, and no reservations were required. The food was much better than your average all–inclusive. They served dishes like pasta in a white seafood sauce with crab, shrimp and scallop - delish!
There were two restaurants that required reservations and dress slacks for men – they were pretty strict about that so everyone conforms. At the Pineapple Grill, they served quesadillas, shrimp cocktail guacamole, and seafood enchiladas. The Chefs Table served filet mignon (but it didn’t look like your typical filet – I think it was sirloin. In any case, it was still very good. You must visit Mary’s Outhouse. It was a bit of a hike, but well worth it.
Day Time Activities – Everyday there were horseshoe throwing contests. They had two tennis courts, and basketball. We also took a ride on the catamaran – it was very exciting. And snorkeling was wonderful– the fish were so beautiful! They also had a large variety of game boards and cards to choose from.
Beach – The sand was soft and white and the beach was fairly long.
Nightly Entertainment – They had a small game room with a pool table and a misplaced dart board. They had about 20 or so slot machines (of which only 2 or 3 worked). They also had a disco and the DJ played great music. Unfortunately, it was dead our entire stay. We went one night and we found ourselves with one other couple.
This was by far our best vacation. Some vacationers come back from their trip feeling like they need another vacation. This was not the case at all. We came home completely relaxed. Also, a lot of people we spoke to were repeat visitors – 2 and 3 times. |

Silver sand, turquoise water - it was Heaven! Visited: June 2002 |

I recently spent 10 wonderful days at the idyllic Allegro Resort Pineapple Beach.
I would recommend it to anyone wishing for a relaxing holiday with good food, a breathtakingly beautiful white sandy beach, astonishing turquoise water, wonderful staff and an intoxicating atmosphere. The cocktails deserved another chapter and I recommend the Montserrat Volcano upon your arrival.
The beach was the best we saw on the island, and far exceeded the more famous Dickinson.
The rooms were varied. Mine was a standard with garden-view and was perfectly acceptable. The bed was comfortable with cozy pillows, and my air-conditioner worked well.
The majority of the staff was helpful, kind and extremely courteous. They obviously love their work at this home-away-from-home by the sea. Some staff members - comedians in their own right - helped make my stay most memorable. Thank you to: Mr T., Richard, Shirley, Julie and Vera (her bark is worse than her bite - give her a smile, say thank you, and she melts).
Most impressive are the security people under Richard who patrolled the property at all hours. They quietly monitored belongings wherever we left them - cameras, handbags, glasses, etc. - and invariably returned them to us.
The ubiquitous Mr T. had a mean aerobic water workout in one of the pools and, after a nightly show by local Antiguan performers, he became a natural disc- jockey offering the latest for both lively and romantic moods. He even took requests!
The management was very attentive and Saskya genuinely let the guests know that all they needed to do was ask if there was anything more that could be done to make their stay more comfortable.
Do not miss a trip to Shirley Heights, some 30 minutes away, as the view was reminiscent of those in the film South Pacific. The Sunday show, with a steel band in all its glory, played not only traditional music but, astonishingly, also had a classical repertoire.
Finally, beware of the sun. SPF 15 is totally useless in this environment. And remember the tops of your feet, behind your knees, and under your armpits. Ouch!
Ladies, remember to take bikinis; a second bikini, plus a spare one. And gentlemen, take tennis shoes as Mr T. also mustered a lively game of football in the afternoons.
This was really a marvellous place to relax. And the all-inclusive rate was the best deal I have ever come across. All drinks were name brands and there was no skimping on anything whatsoever. Enjoy! |

We chose this resort mainly based on all the good reviews on this web site and we were not disappointed! The pictures that you see online do not do this place justice- it's even better.
The oceanview rooms (our room was 516) were right on the ocean and provided privacy. Every day, e fell asleep and woke up to the sound of waves crashing. The rooms were incredibly clean and looked like they had recently been renovated.
The staff at this hotel was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely splurge for a massage- the woman who did my massage was a miracle worker.
The guests were a good mix of young, old, families and couples from many different countries. There were not too many kids.
This isn't the place to go if you want a real active nightlife (which could be a pro or a con depending on how you look at it). There was one bar with nightly entertainment (usually a band) and a disco. The resort was somewhat secluded, so if you wanted to go off-site to eat dinner or something, it could cost $60 for a round-trip cab ride.
The food was very good (especially breakfast). However, it was a bit misleading to say there were three restaurants since two of the restaurants were only open certain nights of the week. So, on any given night we only had two restaurants from which to choose.
Overall, it was just what we were looking for- a relaxed vacation at a beautiful resort with a beautiful beach. We are definitely recommending this resort to our friends and family. |

Pineapple Beach was paradise. Visited: March 2002 |

We have just returned from Allegro Resort Pineapple Beach having had a wonderful holiday.
The hotel was immaculate – both décor and gardens. A large team was out early in the morning cleaning the whole area – sweeping up the leaves and blossoms which had fallen overnight.
Our Oceanview room was only a few feet from the sea and it was great to switch off the air-conditioning and open the louvres to hear the lapping of the water on the beach.
All the staff was very friendly and polite – and efficient. As others have mentioned in their reports, Myriam deserves special mention for her helpfulness in organizing our accommodation. The manager’s cocktail party was excellent – drinks, snacks, a steel band and a chance to meet all the management and fellow guests.
The Topaz restaurant was very good, with friendly staff and excellent menus. The snack bar by the main pool was great for lunch (we British like our chips {French fries}).
All the top brands of drinks were available, and the cocktails were great – the Jamaica ‘Blue Mountain’ and Barbuda ‘Pink Sands’ were new to us, and were greatly enjoyed.
The hotel boat trip to Bird Island for a picnic and snorkelling should not be missed – an exciting speedboat ride there, good snorkelling and a lovely island to explore.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a clean, friendly, relaxing resort with excellent staff, great food and drinks, and a wonderful beach.

What a wonderful, lovely, relaxing holiday. Visited: February 2002 |

We just got back from the Allegro Pineapple. It was one of the nicest holidays we've had.
The resort was beautiful. The weather was superb. The accommodations were lovely, and the sea....... just about perfect.
We had an absolutely lovely time. We took our parents with us as a treat, and we all can't wait to go back (although sadly, it may be a while before we can).
On the staff front - they were all brilliant - with just one exception. We particularly appreciated Myriam, who organized our booking and accommodations (thanks Myriam - you're a star!). Also, thanks to Novella, who held the orientation meetings for new guests (Novella - me no wan for go home, me wanna come back!).
We'd also like to thank both Emily and Icellma, who worked in the restaurant - nothing was too much for these ladies. In addition, Mr. T. , Eddie and Junior kept our son, Harry, entertained with countless games of volleyball.
As I mentioned, the only exception to the staff was one of the female bar staff who worked in the afternoons and evenings. We weren't sure if we had upset her, but she was extremely sullen and sometimes rude. Even though, definitely do not let this put you off visiting here.
For older children, maybe there could be a bit more for them to do. However, once Harry met up with his lovely 'girlfriends' Britney, Paris and Ashley from Oxford, Massachusetts, we hardly saw him.
A visit to the Outhouse is an absolute must. Miss Mary was lovely and the barbecue chicken and ribs should not be missed! Make sure you ask to borrow a marker pen, so you can add your name to the countless other names written all over the outhouse.
In our opinion, the garden view rooms and the beach front rooms were lovely, with the garden ones being more private. But the view from the beach front rooms was absolutely superb.
If you're lucky enough to come here, don't miss out on the snorkeling. The fish and reefs were beautiful.
The food in the restaurants was good, and exceptional at the Pineapple Grill. But make sure you book reservations, else you won't get in.
All in all, we would definitely recommend the Allegro Pineapple. And, once again Myriam, a big, big "thank you" for helping make our stay perfect. We hope it won't be too long before we're back here again. |

January 2003 will be our 15th visit here, 1989 was the first, and it's been great every year.
The staff at Pineapple Beach Resort is the best. They treat us as family and welcome us with open arms when we arrive. The rooms are very clean, food great and activities plenty. The grounds are well maintained and the beach is one of the finest. A visit to Miss Mary's for dogs or ribs is a must.
We all work hard for our money and want a great vacation. PBR takes away our worries and lets you enjoy your vacation.Whether it's to be a beach bum or take in all the activities. |

This place should have six stars! Visited: January 2002 |

From the caring attitude of the staff to the amazing food, this place scores a 10. Anything you wished for was granted, no matter how big or small. If you wanted to know where something was they didn’t tell you, they took you there. You literally step out of your beachfront room onto the beach!
I was very sick while I was there and the staff really cared. Not the fake caring, true concern. Emily in the Topaz restaurant tried to make me as comfortable as your grandmother would. Not one single employee ever gave me an attitude or lacked a smile.
The food was amazing, not the usual buffet after buffet, but menus! The chef, Peter, is an artist with his presentation. The Islanders are very nice and helpful. I have been to Aruba twice, Jamaica four times, Acapulco, Bahamas, and all over the U.S. This place is the tops. No nightlife to speak of, but with very stressful jobs, this is the antidote. I am counting the days until my return. I know this might sound crazy by the sounds of this review, but I’m usually hard to please.
Don’t expect marble bathrooms or terry bathrobes, but the staff makes all the difference. If you go please treat the people with the respect and dignity that they show you so that the island stays the way it is.

We honeymooned here for 2 weeks and it was fantastic. It was quiet due to it being out of season, but it did not make a difference to the experience. You can indulge yourself in as much or as little as like.
A trek to Mary's is a must, and if you can get the staff involved in your afternoon at the outhouse, you will have memories forever (Thanks Mr. T!) Be sure to ask Mary for the 'House Marker' and you can add your name to the thousands that are already there.
The Wadadli Cat circumnavigation is good fun, and Green Island is magnificent. We booked through Sean on the beach and got excellent one-on-one service. Make some time to talk to the vendors on the beach, they do not pressure you to buy, and often just want to chat. (You also get to hear some amazing stories about the island.)
All staff is friendly and chatty. Make a beeline for Vera, Mannon, Sonja, Monique and Rodney at the bar, who just want to get you drunk. Eddie will be able to see all your poolside needs are seen to, and Mr. T can attempt to wake you up with his aqua aerobics every morning. Avian will have you laughing, guaranteed!
We were situated in an oceanview room, which gives you a view right across Long Bay. The gardens and gazebos are beautiful and well kept, and ideal for romantic evening strolls.
The food is excellent in all of the restaurants and the poolside snack bar is great for a late night bite!
Spread the love to the Navy's, the Diver's, the Corrupter's and the Tequila's—see you all there next year!

We had originally booked a "Beachfront" category room because it was the most expensive. Several days later a review entitled "Not Worth the Money" was posted on this site. We were in a state of panic. After numerous e-mails and phone conversations with Myriam Alfred, the Reservations Manager at the resort, we "downgraded" to a "Waterview" room.
Had we been in a "Beachfront" room, we would have been greatly disappointed. We wanted an unobstructed view of the water with absolute privacy, yet only steps from the beach. Myriam placed us in Room #514. When you view the photos, currently on this site, it is the 7th room from the left on the 2nd floor, where the roof transition is raised higher than those adjoining. The view from this room is similar to that shown in the room photo on this site.
In our opinion, this is the best room in the entire resort. This room and the one below it are the only rooms in the "500 Series" with a bathtub and shower. The deck extends out 3 feet farther than any of the other units.
When we go back (and we will go back), we'll insist on this room - as no other would be acceptable to us.
We concur with every positive remark made by any and all reviewers on this site. We do not concur with any negative comments except for those relating to the obstructed views and lack of privacy in most "Beachfront" rooms.
For those who are considering a June vacation, the afternoon air temperature was in the low to mid 80's and the water temperature was 86 degrees! It rained 3 mornings, just after the sunrise (our room faced East-Northeast), for a duration of 2 minutes. It's perfect for a moonlight swim if you keep most of your body underwater.
Again, our thanks to this site, the webmaster and the many other reviewers with whom we communicated prior to our trip to the Pineapple Beach paradise.

I vacationed here twice, and will return in May of 2002.
Our oceanview room was on the second floor with a balcony. It was tropically decorated with tile floors, a ceiling fan, a television, air conditioning and an amazing view.
The Bikini Pool Bar served great frozen daiquiris and pina coladas. The Pineapple Grill Disco had cold air-conditioning and cold beer! A variety of music was played from Caribbean rhythms, reggae and calypso to disco, rock-n-roll and modern dance music.
The grounds were spotless and landscaped beautifully with tropical flowers, plants, trees and bushes in every available space.
The pool had an upper and lower area. The upper was raised and connected to the lower by a four-foot waterfall. It felt great on your neck and back while standing underneath it. A towel stand was located at the activities desk. There was also a second pool on the beach with a great view.
At the Pineapple Grill, try the tortilla soup or the fajitas. The Topaz's main open-air dining area for breakfast, lunch and dinner was refreshing. They also had a great buffet breakfast with an omlett/egg station. The lunch menu consisted of burgers, salads, soups, etc. Dinner was great with a different menu each night. Mary’s Outhouse was worth the hike up the hill. Bring an appetite and a camera. The Pelican Grill was the snack bar in the pool area.
The service and staff are the main reasons I am a repeat guest. A special thank you to Dale, my knight in shining armor; Peter, who was an absolute charm; Shaka, thanks for dancing my feet off; Tony, with his upbeat and energetic personality and Novella, for her smile and caring personality - she made me feel worry-free.
St. Johns Town was a 30-minute cab ride. There we found souvenirs/crafts consisting of paintings on canvas, wood sculptures, gold and silver jewelry, clothing, hematite beads and local handicrafts.
The Wadadli Cats Catamaran Tour was great. If you love sailing - this tour is for you. It was an all day tour with a buffet lunch and drinks. We sailed to Bird Island, Green Island, Nelson's Dockyard, Rendezvous Bay's and Cades Reef. We also swam and snorkeled. It was a great adventure.
My top 10 tips and tricks:
1)Bring a wind up alarm clock with you.
2)There’s a hairdryer in the bathroom.
3)Do not pack a beach towel, the activities desk supplies fresh ones daily.
4)U.S. currency is accepted everywhere.
5)Bring sunglasses
6)Get a massage at the hotel, it’s worth it!
7)Do not overpack!
8)Once a day, try to laugh and smile. It is great therapy!
9)Bring your own snorkel and mask. You never know who’s mouth was on it before you!
10) Relax, slow down and enjoy. You are in a tropical Caribbean paradise.

A beautiful, relaxing stay Visited: May 2001 |

My husband and I honeymooned here for a week, and we couldn't have been happier! There were not a lot of other guests, so we found the quiet, relaxing atmosphere we were seeking.
Our room was spacious and clean, although we were never there during the day. We had an oceanview room bordering the courtyard. I would request the first floor if you want a private porch, which we sat on almost every night to enjoy the wonderful weather.
I would definitely recommend the picnic/snorkeling trip to Bird Island. It was inexpensive, the BBQ was amazing, and Byford, our guide, was very nice. We also did the Wadadli Catamaran circumnavigation cruise and snorkeling off Green Island. Sailing in the beautiful water on the big cat was great! Also, the Jolly Roger booze cruise was pretty fun, if you're looking for a raucous afternoon.
We also went on the shopping trip to St. Johns, and found the two hours were plenty of time to see everything. We also found that using taxis through the hotel was very reasonable, and for outside boating excursions, taxi fees are included in the price.
The food was great, especially the BBQ and Mexican offerings. Pineapple daiquiris are a must, as well as the super nachos from the snack bar.
Lying by the pool or beach made for some very relaxing, wonderful days. This is the time of year to go if you're looking for fewer guests (there were maybe 100), so no worries for beach chairs or anything like that. And the staff was very accommodating and incredibly friendly.
If you're looking for a massage, you have to book in advance; she's not on the property-and look out, she uses 100% olive oil, generously!
The grounds are beautiful, with walkways and gazebos and lots of pretty trees and flowers. All in all, we got the mix of fun and relaxation we were looking for, and would definitely go back again.

We just returned from Antigua where we stayed at PBC for 5 nights and another resort for 4. Although both clubs and staffs were excellent, our enjoyment at PBC was much greater. I felt to be more of a number at the other all-inclusive as opposed to PBC where we got to know the staff on a first name basis and have daily interaction with them.
You can choose to get involved in activities to any degree—no pressure. We had no problem getting a large volleyball game together everyday. There were very few vendors on the beach, which made for a very relaxing day under the palm trees. The restaurants, grill and bar all had excellent products.
The watersports team had snorkeling equipment, kayaks, sailboats and Hobie Cats available all day. There were jetskis, fishing trips and horseback riding available for some extra cash. You must make the hike to Devil's Bridge, an overwhelming site of a bridge carved out by the waves that continue to crash into it. Also, trek up behind the rooms to The Outback where Mary will serve you great BBQ and a cold Wadadli beer. If tennis is your thing, we played on the most gorgeous palm-tree lined courts with a view of the ocean and a cool breeze. Don't forget to say hi to the 12 large turtles that live in the sandpit. The gym has everything you'd ever want plus cold air-conditioning.
The staff at PBC is really what made the difference for us. We were expeditiously checked in and found our bags in our room within 5 minutes. Each employee in every department anticipated our every need with a genuine smile. Also, there was a great mix of guests of all ages, countries and backgrounds—kind of makes it fun when it is not all couples. Overall, it was a great, relaxing and peaceful, yet active village. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful and accommodating resort. The staff are always friendly and offering to please. The rooms are immaculate every day and ocean/beach view picture perfect! Television, hairdryer, phone, message service, laundry service - all amenities.
Do go to orientation where you will be given a weekly activities program/schedule and very helpful tips.
The restaurant options were great and food good. The breakfast buffet had something for everyone...omelets too! There was only one dinner buffet (Thurs. night) and it too had great choices.
Must Do: Wadadli Cat "Spirit of America" Catamaran around Island with stop in Green Bay for snorkeling and lunch.
Do take in as much as you can and as long as you can. We are going back. If you wish to party a lot at night this is not it. |

A beautiful relaxing resort. Visited: March 2001 |

My girlfriend and I just returned from two beautiful days at the Allegro Pineapple. We
knew the hotel was far from town so for our first two days in Antigua, we stayed closer to
town at a different beach hotel. Pineapple Beach is completely on the other side of the
island, so it was interesting to be able to compare to that of beaches in Antigua. For
example, we found the coral around the islands across from the Allegro to be better than
the coral we saw on the Kokomo trip to Cades reef.
We've stayed at other Allegro resorts and found this one to be pretty much consistent. The
food was maybe not quite as good and my girlfriend was disappointed with the limited
availability of massages. But if that's the worst complaint then you know it must be pretty
good!
I did hear some other guests complaining that the resort was too far out and begrudging
paying $40 taxi rides to get out to restaurants or nightclubs in town. So I think we had a
good strategy by splitting our trip between two hotels. If you are looking for quiet
relaxation at a meticulous and elegant resort, the Allegro is a great place. We're definitely
going back. |

Our beachfront room was small, dark, shared a common porch, and was hidden from the beach with trees. The service was poor, the wine was cheap, and the beer was warm. The food was good when you got it, but stay away from the 5 course meal. The beach, the water and the weather was perfect. The volleyball game in the afternoon was ok.

Great for a relaxing beach holiday. Visited: February 2001 |
| Posted by j68baxter |
 |
We stayed here10 days for our Winter break. In summary:
Mary is an angel and the outhouse a memory worthy of the holiday. The sea was not as warm as the Caribbean side and it was very windy at times. The food was good and we especially liked the served evening meals (and lunch if you wished), rather than the normal buffet you often get. Pay for the room upgrade—it is worth it. The entertainment was okay, but short and difficult to see; the pillars were in way and there was no stage. It was a great place for relaxing but for couples not singles. The Island is okay, but not with as much to see or do as there is on other islands such as Jamaica or Barbados. St John's (the capital and took 30 minutes to get there) was small and quaint and the hotel taxi service was cheap and worth it. Though the taxi comes back at midday the couple of hours there is enough to see it all and visit the shops. There was a day trip to Montserrat, so if you like active volcanoes (it is very active at the moment ) this could be your opportunity!
Overall, we liked this hotel and the rooms/service were fine though there were a few surly bar staff members, but we understand this was partly due to they're being a bit overworked. We like to get good service and always found the odd US or Caribbean Dollar for good service helped the drinks to be refilled without asking, and ensured that we got the International brands rather than some of the less well-known local brews!
In the end we would go back without hesitation (we don't say that lightly) and the only reason we don't give 5 stars is that 5 stars should be for perfection and there is always room for improvement.

My husband and I just returned from Allegro Pineapple Beach and had a great time. We were honeymooning and looking for alot of relaxation, which is exactly what we found.
The water was beautiful and excellent for snorkeling. The temperature stayed around 80 degrees and there was always a pleasant breeze.
The food was average. Some meals were very good, while others had alot to be desired. The drinks were very watery. I would definitely recommend the white wine.
The people were really nice and very hard working. The rooms were lovely! Definitely go with garden or beach view. Remember to bring plenty of small bills. You cannot find change anywhere!
Overall- a great vacation from the fast pace. If you like to go out alot on vacation or like a variety in restaurants, I would recommend going to another island. The resort can be claustrophobic if you really like to do alot. There was live entertainment almost every night, however. This was usually a band and on Saturday's they had a fire-eating limbo man. If you do go to Antigua, be sure to see Shirley Heights and go on a beach horseback ride. Also, the watersports and reef fishing were fun. |

My husband and I just got back from Pineapple Beach, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. This was one of the nicest resorts we've ever been to. We requested a beachfront room. It was well worth the extra. The view was beautiful.
All the people at the resort were more than accommodating. The trip up to the Outhouse was worth the trek.
If you're looking for pure relaxation, this is the place to be. If you're looking for constant activity, look elsewhere. We'll go back!!!! |
