Description:
The Carib House is an airy luxurious Caribbean colonial style villa which can accommodate groups of up to 10 persons. Located on the south coast of Antigua, close to the entrance of Falmouth Harbour and only 5 minutes off the main road, it is perfect for a get-away holiday, honeymoon or a small conference. This vacation rental is also ideal for intimate wedding receptions or functions for 20-80 persons with spacious living and entertaining areas.
The use of Trinidadian Mahogany and polished local limestone gives a very warm feeling to the house. Painted a bright yellow with a deep blue trim, it was named after the logo of the local brew. All rooms are large, airy and comfortable, with wooden shutters, Italian Terracotta and limestone floors and neutral tones.
The main house and terrace is built 60’ above sea level and is positioned to take advantage of the cooling Caribbean sea breezes. The nearest beach is only a two minute stroll away and there are boating marinas available within 10 minutes. The house has fantastic views over Falmouth Harbour and the Caribbean Sea, on a clear day you can see nearby islands Guadeloupe and Montserrat.
A long gravel driveway winds through the park and leads up to the grand entrance of the villa featuring a beautiful date palm in the center and banana palms to both sides. A triple lock front door opens to a huge entrance hallway, an oasis filled with plants.
The open plan kitchen area comprises stunning polished mahogany work surfaces, central island with inset 4 burner, large hotplate, stainless steel range and overhead pot hanger, fruit and vegetable storage bins, and a dishwasher. The adjoining utility room features 2 full size refrigerator/freezer units and a washing machine. Double doors lead to the outdoor sitting area.
The sitting room has an open plan and the dining area has comfortable seating for 10 around an Indonesian teak dining table that overlooks the pool and has fabulous views of the Caribbean Sea and Falmouth Harbour.
The American full-size oak pool table can be covered to form a table tennis table or a dining table that can seat 16 people comfortably. The house’s hi-fi system, with speakers in the gazebo, sitting room and game room comprises a multi-play TV/VCR/DVD system wired to stereo system and a substantial collection of CDs. The video library is updated regularly and local rentals are available. Don’t forget to bring your favorites. A tall games cupboard houses the pool and table tennis equipment along with holiday reading material and many games to play. The house has a satellite TV - Dish Network, over 150 channels including movies, sports and news - 2 separate receivers (lounge-room and master bedroom). The house also features wireless internet minimum 128kb, wireless Ethernet connection within house, wireless PCMCIA adapter available on request.
Located close to the entrance to the kitchen is a large built-in charcoal barbeque with a beaten copper hood overhead. There is enough space to cook for a party with a wet-bar installed close by.
The villa is comprised of a total of five generous double bedrooms, all screened and with ceiling fan. The Master bedroom is a spacious mosquito-screened room with double doors to a private balcony, King size oak bed, mahogany bedside tables, teak chest of drawers, large wicker armchair and ceiling fan. It has an ensuite bathroom and dressing room with mahogany wardrobes and dual basin vanity units, and a natural stone double width shower.
A winding stone path and steps lead to the cottage with stunning views across the swimming pool and the Caribbean sea. Fully screened, it comprises a wrought iron King size four poster bed, with mahogany bedside tables and ceiling fan, an ensuite bathroom and dressing room and wrap around verandah complete with comfortable chairs. Even the loo has a view!
A stone staircase leads down to the completely separate garden apartment. It has a covered sitting room/dining area, a bedroom with a wrought iron queen size bed, mahogany bedside tables and a ceiling fan, an ensuite shower room and a fully fitted kitchen. It too, enjoys the beautiful views over Falmouth Harbour and the Caribbean Sea.
The fourth bedroom is set up with twin beds or a king size bed with mahogany wardrobes and a ceiling fan. It shares the family bathroom which is superbly appointed with solid mahogany vanity unit, natural stone double width shower and toilet.
Set up with twin beds, mahogany wardrobes, desk and bedside tables, and ceiling fan, the fifth bedroom shares the family bathroom with the fourth bedroom. It enjoys views from the desk across to Pidgeon Beach on Falmouth Harbour.
The second sitting room is over 500 square foot under a pentagonal roof featuring two large Indonesian bamboo sofas, wrought iron arm chairs, a cushioned terrace, hammocks and a glass topped dining table for 6.
The pool features a green stone island and is surrounded by a natural stone patio - areas totaling some 2000 square feet. Tucked away is an outdoor shower discreetly screened with plants. Sun lounges and a huge umbrella complete the setting with additional large cushions for the serious sun worshippers.
