Description
This property is no longer open.
Keep your eyes open for The Half Moon Bay Resort's reopening. Aggressive
refurbishment and expansion plans are in the works for this one-time highly
rated four star resort. Every room enjoys a breathtaking ocean view
overlooking Antigua's most beautiful & tranquil powdery beach, not
surprisingly named Half Moon Bay. A reef protects the waters which are
usually calm and crystaline. Because all beaches in Antigua are public you
will almost always discover a handful of Antiguan residents picnicing here
during weekends.
This sophisticated sprawling two-story contemporary resort was closed by
damage sustained from Hurricane Luis in September 1995, has not yet reopened.
Its reputation for excellence is widely known, and was previously rated as an
Editor's Choice Hotel by Fodor's Guide to the Caribbean for Antigua. Half Moon
had been a haven for sports enthusiasts, with a championship tennis complex
that has hosted professional tournaments. Facilities include an open-air bar,
restaurant, water sports, a nine-hole golf course, boutique and a beauty
salon.
The delightful Querard family has owned and operated Half Moon for many years
and are proud to report that more than 70% of their guests are repeat visitors
to the resort. Today the family and skeleton staff maintain the property and
reside on site. When in Antigua, stop in and say hello. You will have to
announce yourself at the gate before driving the winding driveway to the
entrance.
