This is a slice of Paradise on Dickenson Bay. Visited: July 2008
Posted by islandtimema
We just returned from two weeks at Siboney Beach Club. We would definitely stay again, and recommend it to our best friends.

If you enjoy a vacation that gets you away from the zaniness of a typical fast-paced lifestyle, away from the herd-mentality of the large resorts, and offers you the feeling of being like a visiting relative, the Siboney Beach Club is for you.

You'll find the other guests, the staff, and the bar-flys at Coconut Grove to be extremely friendly and interesting. The people you meet will stay at Siboney for the same reason, to simply get away from the rat-race and find beauty and solitude.

The area offers convenience to St. John's and shopping. All the watersports are a short walk away, as is a small market for your needs, great restaurants and bars. But then you can put it all away and sit beneath the palms and sea-grape trees - and be swept away.

This was a wonderful beach hideaway. Visited: May 2006

My husband and I just returned from a four-night stay at Siboney Beach Club, and we would definitely return.

It was a modest beach club right on the most beautiful bay in Antigua. With its charm and simplicity, it was a true island experience. We didn't think it felt commercialized like it can feel at Sandals-type resorts.

The rooms at Siboney had modest furnishings, but they were just right. The rooms were quite large and felt more like apartments than hotel rooms (we had the Deluxe Oceanview Room).

The property was beautiful with lush foliage and tropical flowers. Dickenson Bay was the place to stay in Antigua, and Siboney was the best choice there. On the same bay, you will find Antigua Village (which I do not recommend), Sandals (which was too pricy for what you get), and Rex Halcyon Cove (it looked okay, but not as good as Siboney).

There was plenty of beach space near Siboney, and you can rent a jet ski, catamaran, etc. just a short walk away. We loved the location and the options on the nearby beach. I would not have enjoyed staying at any other location than Dickenson Bay.

We also highly recommend the restaurant on site (Coconut Grove) and The Beach which was just a minute's walk down the shore. There was superb food at both locations with a friendly bar staff.

You will not be disappointed at Siboney! In addition, we highly recommend the Antigua Paddles excursion during one day of your stay. You will enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, and hiking with the two charming owners, Conrad and Jenny. This is a "must do" on your trip!

Siboney is a great place. Visited: June 2005
Posted by milsum
We stayed at the Siboney in July 2005. Our choice was between Siboney and an all-inclusive property. We chose Siboney due to the size. We were interested in a short relaxing vacation, and didn't want loud music by the pool, and other things - a quality I associate with most all-inclusive resorts.

We had a great time. The property was not very fancy, the rooms based on furnishings would be more like a two-star by US standards. If you expect or desire four- or five-star quality, this is not the place for you. If you desire great people, a nice secluded beach, and peace and quiet - this is it for you. What differentiated Siboney from other places were the following

1. There were only 12 suites, which led to a great environment. There were hardly any folks on the beach.

2. The beach right in front of Siboney was small, but ample beach could be found on both sides. On one side was the Sandals, but the great part was the beach on the other side. It was about a mile long with no properties providing great privacy and seclusion.

3. The staff at the front desk at Siboney was amazing. They were very friendly and extremely helpful. Most of the restaurant staff were also very friendly, and we got a chance to talk to a few of them at length.

In addition, there was a grocery store right next door to the property.

The rooms were more like suites, with a small living area and a full kitchen with pots/pans which can keep costs down if you are there for a long time. We had a great time and would stay again.

Siboney Beach Club exceeded my expectations. Visited: December 2002
Posted by marvinbe
My husband and I stayed here for one week this past December and absolutely loved it.

Mrs. Johnson, the owner, took us under her wing and made sure we saw all aspects of the island. She even took us to a fish back one night. We loved the experience. We had no problems with bugs, and we would go back in a heartbeat.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a piece of tropical paradise and a quaint little inn.

This is a rare find. Visited: November 2002

In an age of over commercialism within the Caribbean, Siboney is a delightful find. The apartments are well equipped, clean with sea/beach, lush tropical garden views or both!

Owner Tony Johnson and his team have harmoniously blended the finer points of Caribbean living, and, they've pulled it off with style!

We Loved It Visited: June 2001
Posted by luke_24_6
Siboney Beach Club was a gem. We spent several days here at the end of our honeymoon after staying at another property earlier in the week. We greatly enjoyed Siboney. It has the most beautiful gardens we saw on the island and a great location. This resort is at the end of a stretch of resorts including Sandals and Rex Halcyon Cove.

We loved the Coconut Grove restaurant and several of the other beachfront restaurants on Dickenson Bay. There is also a grocery store at the neighboring Condo resort, which we gathered a lunch one day.

We stayed in a beachview suite and it was wonderful. Our bedroom had 2 windows on 2 different walls each looking out at different ocean views. (Siboney is on a small peninsula.) Our balcony overlooked the pool and hammock and we could sit and listen to the live music at the coconut Grove in the evening. The room was pleasantly decorated with cut local flowers in water vases. However, I would recommend discarding the flowers and the water because I believe this to be a source of a few mosquitoes. After getting rid of the plants our mosquito problem was solved.

The front desk was very helpful at scheduling activities for us around the island. Ask for Joyce the taxi driver. We took a 5-hour island tour and loved Joyce. She then became our personal driver for the week. We became friends and she stopped charging us for rides (although we were glad to pay her anyway).

Overall, Siboney was a delight and we often walked by Sandals and commented on how glad we had the freedom and class of Siboney. It's a great place to stay while exploring the island. We loved it.

Beautiful and peaceful Visited: October 2000
Posted by temp
We spent our 9-day honeymoon here and The Siboney Beach Club was exactly what we were looking for to spend a quiet romantic week together.

Our room was a corner unit on the top level with a splendid view of the ocean, gardens, pool and beach. The room was clean, and although the living area was a bit muggy at times, the bedroom was very comfortable since it was air conditioned. The little kitchenette was quite adequate and we cooked several meals in our room. The small pool area was just beautiful with the surrounding tropical gardens. The whole complex was so pretty!

We ate several meals at the Coconut Grove (located right there on the beach), and found it to be reasonably priced and very good food.

The beach area was perfect for us; smooth white sandy beach with crystal-clear water. There were usually only a few people on the beach near the hotel. Down the beach, further along Dickenson Bay, there were a lot more people (from Sandals), but still not that crowded. There were plenty of water sports to try if you want to spend a few bucks.

We rented a car but would not recommend that for everyone. The roads were in bad shape and were rarely marked. It was quite difficult at times to find your way around the island. However, we did enjoy seeing the many sights throughout the island. There were lots of places to hike if you're into that. You will need a car or taxi if you want to stock up on food. Although there's a small grocery store within walking distance of the Siboney, there's not much of a selection.

Overall, we absolutely loved staying at the Siboney. We'd love to go back someday!

Married in the garden here Visited: September 2000
Posted by colleen_pitts
My (now) husband and I spent four days at this charming hotel, and absolutely loved it. We got married in the morning in the hotel's garden, which is lush and beautiful. The staff is wonderful; Tony was one of our witnesses, and one of the sweet ladies that work in the office made my bouquet from flowers from the garden!! The beach is small, but perfect. Our room and deck were simple but gorgeous.

Disappointed, Bring OFF Spray! Visited: March 2000
Posted by paul_tom
My wife, daughter and I stayed here expecting a one-bedroom condo-type unit.
While the bedroom had A/C, the living room did not, and only wood shutter doors separated our daughter from the outside (no windows/screens). On a nightly basis, she was eaten alive by insects flying in the gaps in the shutters. Only a can of $10 OFF spray helped, but not much.

The beach was small, best part was walking past Sandals on the way to the Rex Halcyon's Warri Pier, best place for lunch. The restaurant at the Siboney was OK, but high priced for average food, for example, $12 for a breakfast fruit plate.

We rented a car, and with the unsigned, pothole ridden roads, not a lot of fun, but the view at Engligh Harbor was beautiful, and worth the ride.

This comfy twelve-unit hotel sits right on the beach so you fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the surf. The staff is extremely accommodating and owner tells wonderful stories intriguing as the lovely scenery.

Cozy cove area and wonderfully self-sufficient rooms Visited: January 2000
Posted by malibufem
Siboney Beach Club was a really cozy place to stay. I prefer the smaller hotel style and easy access to beaches. The rooms have kitchens, separate bedrooms, air conditioning and tropical views. I could do anything from walk out of the room and into the warm ocean in less than a minute or hang out in the chairs they supply for guests to taking a jump in the pool. I could eat at the restaurant that looks out on the water or I could walk down the beach to other restaurants. It is a good walk all around the cove for those who like exercise. Taxi guys are around to take you into the middle of town within 15 minutes. I chose Antigua because it has a real people feel.

Peaceful, friendly - a little paradise in paradise Visited: January 2000
Posted by david
I've been going to Antigua every year for the last 15 years and now I always stay at the Siboney Beach Club. The accommodations are suites - well, small apartments really, so it works whether I am on my own or with the family. The bathroom is accessible from either the bedroom or lounge which is great when my kids are sleeping on the two sofas. There's a galley kitchen behind closed doors. The tropical garden is exceptional with a private pool which is always peaceful.

The staff is great and so is their Coconut Grove restaurant, and the mile long beach fronting Dickinson Bay with Sandals and the Rex Halcyon up at one end.

Some days I like to see the island, sail on Captain Nash's 26-foot racing yacht, eat in different restaurants, drive to English Harbour and 'come back home' to Siboney. Other days I rotate between the poolside, bar and beach.

If it's an all-inclusive hotel you want, try Sandals, but if you prefer something a little more personal giving you the freedom to relax and stay in for the night or go out on the town, I recommend the Siboney Beach Club.

When you arrive, you will probably be met by the owner who knows a thing or two about the Island - he'll tell you more about it than any book! Someone asked me why I don’t have an apartment in Antigua as I go back so often. Fact is, I already do - at the Siboney, room 2.

Best kept secret of the Caribbean. Visited: January 2000
Posted by pm309
Prned from staying at Siboney Beach Club. When I did the research on the place I was kind of skeptical about a place with only 12 rooms. I was at first drawn to a much larger place that seemed to have much more to offer.

We have traveled a lot in the islands and we can honestly say that we have never stayed at any place that we have enjoyed so much. The staff were the most friendly we have ever encountered on any trip. Tony, who owns the place, was so helpful with directions and other information about the island.

The location of the hotel was about 5 feet from the edge of the ocean, on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Our room was so nice and roomy, and very clean. It had everything we could have wanted. The view from our balcony was breathtaking.

We ate at Coconut Grove, the restaurant on the property and the food was the best. The servers were so much fun to talk to that we felt like we had known them forever.

I can honestly recommend this place to anyone as one in a million. If you are looking for a truly enchanting place to stay on Antigua, don't pass this place up. We will go back many times.

Great place - exceeded our expectations in every way Visited: January 2000
Posted by jt1
We thoroughly enjoyed our three day stay here. The hotel was right on the beach (which was in great shape when we were here), the room was beautifully furnished, clean and very comfortable. The kitchenette came in handy with a small grocery store just a short walk away.

The grounds and the pool were landscaped to look like a mini tropical paradise and the staff and owner couldn't have been friendlier.

All in all, we were glad that we chose the Siboney over some of the other similar hotels on the island.
