The Radisson was excellent. Visited: July 2007

I stopped by every hotel here, and our grounds were the widest, and we had the nicest pool area and biggest beach.

We enjoyed the happy hour bar, and the Casino right in the lobby. The staff was friendly.

There were parrots that were around the lobby and paths to the pool. They were so funny. They would say hello and whistle at guests walking by.

We had dinner 'on the beach' on our last night there surrounded by tiki torches. It was $69 a person, and it was well worth it.

While you are in Aruba, please carry dog food with you to feed the strays. I spent half my week doing this. People dump them when they can't care for them any more, and it was just heart wrenching to see.

What a great honeymoon! Visited: September 2006
Posted by michelle58
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the beautiful Radisson Aruba. The staff (from hotel check-in to the wait staff) was extremely nice. There was no one who didn't have a smile to offer.

The pools were great, and the beach was clean and beautiful. Our room and bathroom were clean and well kept up. We always had clean towels and hot water.

On the grounds, there were beautiful parrots and iguanas. Both were friendly and didn't mind coming up to you (both were harmless).

Aruba, itself, was gorgeous. There was always a breeze blowing, and even with a temperature of 90, the weather was great and very tolerable.

We will definitely go back - especially with a free night on our next stay!

This is the best hotel on Palm Beach. Visited: May 2005
Posted by jalcan0719
Our vacation in Aruba was May 23 through June 1, 2005.

There were three buildings. We stayed in the Aruba tower, which was the big eight-story building. We had room 1618 on the sixth floor. The rooms with the best views on this floor were the even numbered rooms in the high teens (1614, 1616, 1618). They had a lot of rooms with double beds, so if a king is a must, you may have to compromise. We were fine with double beds in 1618 to have the best view of pool/beach.

The food was good here. A 15% "gratuity" was automatically added to all purchases, so make sure you understand what you are really tipping. Laguna's for breakfast was pricy, so try to get a package that includes breakfast buffet or it can be $45/day for two people! Alternatively, there were a couple of Dunkin Donuts on the two piers on either side of the property.

Lunch at Gilligan's (the beach bar/restaurant) was great. They would bring the food to us on the beach if we wanted. They offered typical stuff like hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and quesadillas...perfect for us Americans.

There were many great places for dinner on the island, but one of the best was Sunset Grille right in the Radisson. It was five-star all the way (expect $125 for two people). There were also good places to eat across the street from the hotel (a five-minute walk), and at the Wyndham and Hyatt (also only a five-minute walk from the Radisson). Definitely try some restaurants outside the hotel for dinner. Spray some deet prior to leaving, or you will get bitten by mosquitoes while walking/eating outside.

If you want to go downtown to shop/eat (about five miles), take the bus instead of a cab. The bus stop was right in front of the Radisson, and the ten-minute trip was fun and only $1 each way per person (instead of $10 for a cab).

The Radisson had the best beach in the hotel zone, with plenty of palapas, palm trees, lounge chairs, beach food service and clear/calm/warm water. All other resorts seemed to have only 50% as much beach frontage as Radisson.

The zero entry pools were great, but there ws no swim-up pool bar. The propery was lush, well groomed and beautiful.

I gave it four stars because of the beach atmosphere. Frankly, I prefer this level while on a tropical vacation. It was too hot for five stars! Make sure to try to catch the sunsets...they can be spectacular on some days.

Rent a four-wheel Jeep and see the east side of the island - including the natural bridge. Stop at Baby Beach and downtown along the way. The streets were fairly easy to navigate, and there were only two major roads, so it would be tough to get lost.

It would be difficult to have any regrets at the Radisson Aruba. It was a perfect hotel as long as you are informed, polite and determined to make it perfect.

It was wonderful - we would go again. Visited: February 2005
Posted by lp630
My husband and I just returned from a four-night/five-day stay at the Radisson in Aruba.

This was our first visit to Aruba and it will not be our last. We loved the island and it was one of our favorites in the Caribbean. We were also very pleased with our choice of the Radisson.

Remember that you're on vacation. This hotel was sold out every night last year except for two weeks in December, and they were sold out the entire time we were here. So - you may not always get the exact bed combination or view you requested.

However, the staff was very nice and accommodating and if you're polite, they will help you. We had a few issues at first, but they upgraded our room for a night and gave us $200 off our bill. If you aren't happy, just ask nicely and they'll give you something. We were very pleased with the room and the $200 was an added bonus.

I'd recommend renting a fridge for your room. It was only $10 a day (like a small, dorm fridge) and we kept our wine and snacks in there. It helped save a lot on extra money spent on alcohol and also snacks and breakfasts.

The beach was beautiful. You can go down early and reserve a tiki hut if you want. We like the sun, but did get a hut one day and were glad.

Go to the local pier bar right by the hotel. It was so much fun and the locals were really nice. We never ate on property - there were too many other good restaurants to explore. But, we hear great things about the food.

Overall - we thought the grounds were beautiful, the rooms were nice and clean, and the staff was very nice. We would highly recommend this place to others.

Oh - keep an eye out for a sale - we got our room 30% off!!

This was a great family vacation. Visited: February 2004

We had a wonderful stay at The Radisson. The hotel had undergone an extensive renovation and it showed. With beautiful tropical foliage everywhere, waterfalls, two lovely zero entry pools and a white sand beach...what more could you ask for?

Our family found lots to do...parasailing, jet skiing, snorkeling, shopping, swimming and, of course, relaxing!

The rooms were nicely decorated and spacious. Our only complaint was that they charged $20 a night for the roll-away bed. Even so, I would highly recommnend this resort for a great vacation.

This is a gorgeous resort on a beautiful beach! Visited: August 2003
Posted by dccampbell
My husband and I stayed at the Radisson Aruba for eight nights in August 2003. Since it was our honeymoon, we wanted a location that could provide an intimate atmosphere with first-class amenities.

Aruba definitely met the above qualifications, and after seeing many of the other hotels, I believe the Radisson was the best resort on Palm Beach.

The rooms were large and very comfortable, although the showers in the bathroom could be a bit more spacious. That was a minor complaint, though, compared to the beautiful water and sand waiting for us when we left the hotel! The exotic birds shown every morning in the lobby were a treat; be sure to have your picture taken with them.

Other recommendations: try the Aruba Dine-Around Program; the restaurants included were quite good, and the program pushed us to travel beyond the resort strip. Also, the Latin show at the Sonesta was a lot of fun. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation!

The best for relaxation and a great beach. Visited: August 2003
Posted by mgeday
We are almost 29 years married and had the best time at the Radisson!

They provided great service, the best beach, towels and chairs, gardens of the island, wonderful rooms, marble bathroom, and the patform beds were incredibly comfortable! Also, the food was super.

There were three lower buildings, not one tall character-less highrise. Get a room on the third floor or higher for a great view. It was a real tropical paradise!

Things were not cheap (food and other things), and we had to tip everywhere, but it was worth the money. The resort was better than the others - even the Hyatt and Mariott. It would be great for a first, second, fifth, etc. honeymoon!

Rent a car for a few days and explore a few local restaurants and other sites. You can rent a fridge for some drinks and snacks if you wish.

The only hassle was at checking time, it was a bit chaotic. Also, the wine was mediocre on the entire island - because they did not protect it from the heat in shipment. Take or buy some of your own. Hopefully, that will one day change.

Absolutely our best vacation ever at the Radisson Aruba! Visited: May 2003
Posted by pkozak
My husband and I just returned from our ten-day stay at the Radisson Aruba where we had a fabulous time celebrating our 25th anniversary. We were in Aruba 25 years ago for our honeymoon, and we're sorry it took us this long to return.

Though we were concerned about warmth at a big high rise hotel, we were happily surprised at the personal attention and the level of service at the Radisson.

The grounds were lush and tropical, and every turn in the walkway brought us to another picturesque location. Breakfast at the Laguna was always a treat - topped off by feeding the fish in the lovely lagoon dockside. We spent lots of time eating and enjoying Pina Coladas from Gilligan's Beach Bar & Grill. Eddie, the head bartender, was a super guy.

The Radisson talks about guaranteeing 100% customer satisfaction, and they exceeded that. We didn't see one unhappy face - everyone was so pleasant and helpful.

The zero entry pools were great. We never had a problem finding free lounge chairs - usually with an umbrella. The beach was also superb - they told us not to worry about getting a palapa (straw hut/umbrella) - because it was off-season and you'll always find one available - that was true. Sunsets on the beach were spectacular.

This was the most relaxing vacation we've ever had. The rooms were wonderful and the West Indies decor was top-notch. On check-in, we were given a fourth floor room in the Curacao building and asked to change to a room with a king size bed. They offered an immediate move to an upgraded room with a king for $50/night extra, or we could wait until the following day and move to a king room comparable to our own (same building, same floor) - we waited the one day.

We had a nice garden view on quiet side of building #3 with partial ocean view. The balcony was a great place to spend a quiet hour early morning before my husband woke up, and a wonderful place to sit late in the evening with a glass of wine, talking over the day we spent.

We ordered room service dinner one night for a quiet celebration of our 25th anniversary (we'd brought champagne with us) and when we mentioned it to the room service crew, they graciously provided us two free glasses of their champagne, too.

We had a wonderful visit - we are definitely returning to the Radisson on our next visit to Aruba. We can't wait.

What a tropical paradise this place is! Visited: April 2003
Posted by misscroatia007
The Radisson is a true paradise on Earth. It has a very lush, tropical atmosphere. There are talking parrots, waterfalls, flowers, and not to mention iguanas all around the premise. Arubians don't even acknowledge iguanas - I think they see them as often as some of us see pigeons.

We had a balcony with a partial ocean view on the third floor of the Bonaire tower. It was a lovely view. Next time we will try to get a room in the main tower, higher up. The rooms were immaculately kept by housekeeping.

The staff was so friendly. The day guests leave, they will allow a courtesy baggage hold, so that way you can clear your room and enjoy your last few hours at the beach and wash up in the meantime. We were lucky. No one reserved our room that day, so we were able to actually stay in our room after morning check-out (9:00 am or 10:00 am) until we left at 2:00 pm. So, request that before you leave. You must request this on the exact day you leave.

One warning though. Do not touch anything in the fridge unless you intend to buy it. This includes items outside the fridge...camera, lotion, etc. There is an electronic sensor that automatically charges you if you move something.

Restaurants I recommend are Sunset Grill, at the Radisson (steak and seafood); Japengo, at the Hyatt (Japanese); Laguna, at the Radisson (breakfast buffet - try their blueberry waffles!); Tuscany, at the Marriott (Italian, and a 15% gratuity is automatically charged on some bills as a courteousy to save you the math. If you have a problem with service speak to someone in-charge rather than sulking).

We used a cab to get around everywhere. From Highrise area to town was a set fee of $10. From Highrise to Highrise was $5 (you can't walk to the Marriott, so don't try, it was a winding dark road. From Highrise to the airport, we were charged $20. The government sets these prices.

Go to Arashi Beach for snorkeling on the beach...no need to go on an excursion. Go to Natural Bridge. Don't be depressed if you can't find the Natural Pool...many can't. There were all dirt roads, and some of the signs to the sites were confusing and the map wasn't reliable all the time. Honostly, if you rent a jeep for one day...you can manage to see the whole entire island if you start early in the morning.

I have been to many Carribbean islands, but none have pleased me this much, and the Radisson played a major factor in this. I will definitely return to the Radisson and all I plan to do is lounge on the beach. The Radisson truly had the best and largest beach grounds with many beach chairs, cabannas and friendly attendants ready to find you the most perfect spot along the beach or shade. Whatever your fancy is, the Radisson will accommodate.

What a beautiful resort! Visited: March 2003

Aruba is a wonderful island and the Radisson is a great choice for a hotel.

It is close to many restuarants and its landscape is yet to be matched by any other hotel on the island. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is friendly and the ammenties are top notch.

There is no need to hesitate when looking, the Radisson is a great place to stay in Aruba.

The Radisson provides excellent rooms and an excellent beach. Visited: March 2003
Posted by russplott
My wife and I stayed at the Radisson on our honeymoon in March.

The room, the grounds and the beach were nothing short of perfection. The resort was much quieter than what we experienced in Jamaica. Prices in the hotel were high, i.e. meals and drinks, but guests can walk off property for outstanding meals at decent prices. You can also purchase your alcohol refreshments at one of the grocery stores to save money.

Tips for those who like to have a few cold ones or cocktails on the beach:
1. Bring a collapsable cooler to keep your beer cold on the beach.

2. Bring a couple of insulated 32-ounce mugs to use on the beach.

3. Take the Tattoo Boat and the Kuku-Kuknucko bus ride. Both of these attractions were well worth the $50 per person price tag. The bus picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel, and the boat dock was just down the beach within walking distance of the rooms.

4. Look for happy hour specials at the bars on the beach. Many had decent specials between 3-5pm daily.

5. Ask for the room upgrade when you check in. You might be surprised and get a better room than what you originally purchased.

6. Enjoy yourselves! This place is paradise if you love the white beach and hot sun.

We receive extraordinary service with exceptional accommodations. Visited: February 2003

From the moment we arrived, I knew my husband and I were in for a vacation we would not forget. The service and kindness of all the Radisson staff was exceptional. The hotel and rooms were gorgeous. I was very impressed with all the amenities the room had to offer.
We had a partial ocean view, which was great. During our next visit, we will request a full ocean view. I cannot say anything negative about the Radisson. We have traveled a lot, and this hotel was our favorite. Aruba was great, too!

The worst place I've stayed! Visited: January 2003
Posted by jiss
The pool was freezing! You have to get up at 6:30am every morning to stand in line to get a shaded beach chair. Then the flood of people from the ship of the day set up huge umbrellas in front of your view and you cannot see the water. The hotel nickel and dimes you for everything. If you want a beer it costs between $5-$7US. I thought that there was a poor attitude among the staff. Go to Turks & Caicos and spend your money wisely.

We were here on our honey moon. The service was outstanding, the staff was great, and the accommodations and grounds were beautiful.

We visited other hotels and were so happy we chose the Radisson. It had a very relaxed atmosphere. We did not want to go home! I am booking again this year for our anniversary! I can't wait to return!

It was amazing! Visited: October 2002
Posted by edamanakis
My boyfriend and I went to Aruba for the first time in October of 2002. We spend the best eight days of our lives here! It was our first time here, but it will not be our last.

The weather was amazing - hot and sunny every day. In most Caribbean islands it was hurricane season at that time. But in Aruba you don't have to worry, it is not in the hurricane belt. The grounds were incredible and very well maintained. The pool area was also well maintained and very beautiful.

The beach was breathtaking! The water was crystal clear and there was absolutely no garbage anywhere. I've traveled to many islands, and nothing has compared to the water in Aruba.

The staff was amazing, so friendly and helpful. To my boyfriend and I - everybody on the whole island was nice. We didn't encounter anybody with an attitude or who didn't want to help us.

About the hotel, the premises were very well maintained and beautiful, the rooms were awesome and very spacious. The food was extremely good. But I do suggest that you leave the premises to go out to dinner. The food in almost all the restaurants was great. Our favorite restaurant was Bucaneers. "Wow" is all I have to say!

During our eight-day stay, we saw a lot. We took the Sunset Cruise, which was a "must" to do. We did the snorkeling tour which included snorkeling and snuba (both the Sunset Cruise and the snorkeling tours left from the beach at the Radisson). The sea life was amazing! We also went into town and took the submarine tour. As for shopping, it was great. There was a lot of good stuff at great prices.

Also, I am very afraid of bugs. We didn't have to worry about it.

As in all, it was the best vacation of our lives!

Beautiful rooms, and a great property! Visited: October 2002
Posted by buggedout70
If you are considering Aruba, then your top two choices for hotels should be the Hyatt and the Radisson. They are neck and neck in terms of Aruba's best, and they are a few properties down from one another.

I chose to stay at the Radisson because I got a really great deal on a Concierge/Oceanview room ($259/night Fall Special), but because of my own scheduling issues, my wife and I had to stay at the Hyatt for our first night, and the following 5 nights at the Radisson.

In terms of rooms: the Radisson blew away the Hyatt. The Radisson had a major renovation a couple of years ago and the rooms are now quite beautiful and tastefully decorated. In addition, the marble bathroom was awesome -- although, a light in the shower could have helpful, and the bathroom doors give little privacy).

On the other hand, our room at the Hyatt was just mediocre. It looked somewhat outdated and the bathroom could have used a serious facelift. I wasn't impressed.

In terms of the property/hotel: both the Hyatt and Radisson had beautiful grounds, and both hotels (the buildings) were very nice (maybe the Hyatt a little nicer, if you discount their ugly rooms).

Parrots and iguanas were everywhere, and they had a great beach. We had no problem getting a cabana (hut) at the beach each morning (you pick one for the day when you get your beach towels).

There were lots of pools at each property, but the Radisson had a great zero entry pool that was nice to sit in at the end of the day.

There are only 2 restaurants (for dinner) at the Radisson, and we only tried the Sunset Grille (the more upscale of the 2). We ate there twice -- the food was excellent (on par with a nice New York City restaurant).

The other restaurant (the Laguna?) - we heard wasn't worth trying (it has a buffet). There were 3 or 4 very good restaurants at the Hyatt, so we walked over and ate there as well. And there were plenty of non-hotel restaurants in Aruba that were .

The staff at the Radisson was very nice (I think all Arubans are nice by nature). I had booked a Concierge level room (with an Oceanview), but one wasn't available when we arrived. So, they gave us a comparable room on a lower floor (partial oceanview -- who cares), they knocked the price down by $60/night, and let use the concierge suite at no charge. Matilda, in the concierge suite, was a doll, and was very helpful with reservations and things of that sort.

The Radisson was awesome, we'd definitely go back in a split second, and I can't imagine why you'd stay anywhere else!

A great one -year anniversary vacation. Visited: October 2002
Posted by hydster007
My husband and I both agree that this was our best vacation yet. Aruba was great - and so was the Radisson.

The grounds were beautiful, as was the rest of the hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. When we first arrived, we got a room with a view of a roof top. My husband immediately went to the front desk and requested a different room. A nice lady showed us a couple more rooms and we picked one that we liked.

The food and service at the Sunset Grille was spectacular. For dinner elsewhere on the island, you must try Flying Fishbone and El Gaucho.

We had no problem finding lounge chairs on the beach or by the pool area. The pools were not crowded as with some of the other hotels. The location was perfect. We had no problem getting a "tiki hut" on the beach to take advantage of the shade and nice breeze.

There was a Dunkin Donuts and a bar on a pier just a short walk away. The rooms were very nice and clean. The concierge was very helpful in making numerous dinner and tour reservations for us. We also got massages at the spa which were great. We truly felt like we were in paradise.

The only somewhat unpleasant experiences we had at the Radisson were the breakfast service at the Laguna and a parrot that woke us up each morning at 6am. Apparently, there was supposed to be a cover on this particular cage, but we later found there was not. We tried getting a different room during our stay but were told they had no rooms available with a king size bed.

Once we checked out, my husband met with the Guest Relations Manager who apologized and gave us a free night stay at any Radisson. We are ready to go back.

More than I hoped for in a honeymoon. Visited: July 2002
Posted by alw1977
We just got back from our 8-day, 7-night honeymoon in Aruba, and I can safely say it was the best vacation I have ever had.

The only hitch we had was when we first checked in (get the bad stuff out of the way first). The woman helping us at the counter was less than friendly (very rare for Aruba) and gave us a ground floor room, claiming there were no rooms above the ground floor with a king size bed.

We went to look at the room, didn't like the lack of privacy, so went back to the check-in desk and had another attendant help us. Low and behold, all of the sudden a third floor room with a king size bed became available. Really, this was a small inconvenience at worst, and virtually everything else was perfect.

The grounds of the hotel were incredible, as were the rooms. We had a pretty basic gardenview room, and found it more than adequate for our needs. The pools were incredible at this hotel - very private with lots of chairs to go around. If you walked over to the Allegro or Wyndham, you could see that people were packed around the pool like a bunch of spring-breakers in Daytona - complete with blaring music. The Radisson was quiet, and very relaxing.

As for the restaurants, the breakfast buffet at Laguna was good. The Sunset Grille was fabulous, but very expensive. We spent $100 for two, and that only included one alcoholic drink. Gilligan's, the beach bar, was okay. The frozen drinks were expensive ($8.00), as was beer. Tip: if you drink beer, buy it from the hotel gift shop. Beer there was $2 each, versus $4-6 from Gilligans. Oh, and for happy hour, hit De Palm Pier (on the beach right beside Radisson) from 3-5. The had cheap drinks and a better atmosphere than Gilligan's. The food was bad at De Palm Pier, though.

The concierge services were great. Carmela really helped us find some good activities and booked all of our restaurant reservations. I highly recommend the horseback riding at Rancho Notorious. It was the best thing we did in Aruba.

The only other hotel on Aruba that held a candle to the Radisson was the Hyatt. The Hyatt was gorgeous too, but had a completely different feel. Where the Radisson was, it was quiet, the Hyatt was very active. The Radisson was very nature-centered, where the Hyatt was more sophisticated, with chandeliers in the lobby and the casino right in the middle of the hotel.

The Hyatt was not nearly as spread out as the Radisson - it had a high-rise feel, where the Radisson felt like villas. We stayed in the Bonaire tower of the Radisson (the middle one that you can barely see in photos - it only had four floors) - this may have helped it feel more like a villa. I'm not sure I would have felt this way had I stayed in the Aruba tower.
