5.0 stars More than I hoped for in a honeymoon. Visited: July 2002
Posted by alw1977
We just got back from our 8-day, 7-night honeymoon in Aruba, and I can safely say it was the best vacation I have ever had.

The only hitch we had was when we first checked in (get the bad stuff out of the way first). The woman helping us at the counter was less than friendly (very rare for Aruba) and gave us a ground floor room, claiming there were no rooms above the ground floor with a king size bed.

We went to look at the room, didn't like the lack of privacy, so went back to the check-in desk and had another attendant help us. Low and behold, all of the sudden a third floor room with a king size bed became available. Really, this was a small inconvenience at worst, and virtually everything else was perfect.

The grounds of the hotel were incredible, as were the rooms. We had a pretty basic gardenview room, and found it more than adequate for our needs. The pools were incredible at this hotel - very private with lots of chairs to go around. If you walked over to the Allegro or Wyndham, you could see that people were packed around the pool like a bunch of spring-breakers in Daytona - complete with blaring music. The Radisson was quiet, and very relaxing.

As for the restaurants, the breakfast buffet at Laguna was good. The Sunset Grille was fabulous, but very expensive. We spent $100 for two, and that only included one alcoholic drink. Gilligan's, the beach bar, was okay. The frozen drinks were expensive ($8.00), as was beer. Tip: if you drink beer, buy it from the hotel gift shop. Beer there was $2 each, versus $4-6 from Gilligans. Oh, and for happy hour, hit De Palm Pier (on the beach right beside Radisson) from 3-5. The had cheap drinks and a better atmosphere than Gilligan's. The food was bad at De Palm Pier, though.

The concierge services were great. Carmela really helped us find some good activities and booked all of our restaurant reservations. I highly recommend the horseback riding at Rancho Notorious. It was the best thing we did in Aruba.

The only other hotel on Aruba that held a candle to the Radisson was the Hyatt. The Hyatt was gorgeous too, but had a completely different feel. Where the Radisson was, it was quiet, the Hyatt was very active. The Radisson was very nature-centered, where the Hyatt was more sophisticated, with chandeliers in the lobby and the casino right in the middle of the hotel.

The Hyatt was not nearly as spread out as the Radisson - it had a high-rise feel, where the Radisson felt like villas. We stayed in the Bonaire tower of the Radisson (the middle one that you can barely see in photos - it only had four floors) - this may have helped it feel more like a villa. I'm not sure I would have felt this way had I stayed in the Aruba tower.

5.0 stars Talk about being blessed by a hotel! Visited: July 2002
Posted by sgttim04
My wife and I just got back from spending six days in Aruba. This was where we chose to spend the beginning days of our lives together (we just got married) and our choice was 100% on target.

The Radisson was everything we could have hoped for in a hotel and extended family. The room was keep perfect every day by the maid, and the hotel staff was almost not real. It was a blessing to be offered help from everyone we passed and to be congratulated on our marriage even after we had settled in.

The property and the pools were wonderful, but I especially need to mention the Laguna Restaurant, the staff felt like family. We are already planning our next trip here. Once will never be enough for anyone. Thank God for the treasure in Aruba.

4.0 stars It met our expectations, with a few caveats. Visited: April 2002
Posted by jbrigantino
Certainly fulfilled all our expectations from the size of the beach and the quality of restaurant (Sunset Grill) to the friendliness of the employees.

However, do not eat or drink anything from the the room refrigerator. Actually, do not even move anything in the refrigerator. Simply moving anything electonically charges your room. You can buy the same items in the hotel's store or shops for much less money.

Second, when leaving the hotel on day excursions, take a bus for a dollar instead of $8 for a cab.

Lastly, do not use the room telephone for outgoing calls. The service charge alone was $5. Guests can buy a six-minute calling card for $4.50 at any hotel shop which can be used at the hotel's pay phone. Avoid the room phone at all costs.

5.0 stars A wonderful property - highly recommended. Visited: March 2002
Posted by csachar
My husband and I stayed at the Radisson for seven nights this past March. Part of my decision for choosing this property was based on the reviews on this board (so thanks to everyone who posted their reviews).

We absolutely loved this place - the room, people, food (for the most part), pool, beach...everything.

The room was beautifully decorated. The pictures posted on their website were true to life. The rooms included very nice West Indian furnishings in dark wood , a four poster bed, wooden louvered shades for the balcony and very nice linens on the bed (including about eight pillows to sleep with). The bathrooms were large and luxurious. They came with robes to use while staying here.

The poolside/beachfront restaurant was our favorite of the hotel restaurants. We ended up eating lunch here nearly everyday. The food was pretty reasonable and actually very good. Of the two dinners I had, the steak was excellent (the chicken was so-so).

The Laguna Fish Market was where we ate breakfast (on the mornings we didn't grab something from Dunkin Donuts. It was good, but nothing spectacular. The one dinner we had there was actually less than good - average at best. We did the Sunday Brunch at the Sunset Grille. It was excellent for seafood lovers. If you're not, try to drink more than your share of the Mimosas.

The great thing about the property, was how much space they had compared to the other hotels on Palm Beach. You can sit at the pool and not be sandwiched next to people because they have such a large amount of beachfront property. The beach "huts" were also great - they had a lot of them (over 50?), but you had to get up early to get one. Also the grounds were beautiful, lush and well cared for.

My only complaint was check in. It took forever, seemed very unorganized and our room wasn't ready, so we had to wait for about 45 minutes in the lobby (although it was 5:00 p.m. in the evening).

5.0 stars This was our best Caribbean trip. Visited: March 2002
Posted by jimlewis
My wife and I just returned from a five-night stay at the Radisson Aruba Resort and Casino. Unlike our prior Caribbean trip (for which we did not consult this site) this one was excellent overall!

The resort was beautiful - well kept, nicely designed, attractive and comfortable. The beach and pool areas were beautiful and there were lots of sunny and shaded areas.

The staff was consistently pleasant and helpful. They went so far as to make fresh applesauce for my wife when she did not feel well. The food was also very good. We had the excellent breakfast buffet every day.

The off-site activities were fun (via DePalm Tours). We did two snorkel trips and saw the dinner show "Lets Go Latin" (it was superb - see it).

There were lots of fun water sports to watch or do right on the water at the beach - sailing, water skiing, tube towing, banana boat towing, parasailing, kite surfing and mini cruises, etc.

There were some minor negatives - but nothing is perfect. A 15% "service charge" was automatically added to every meal, drink, etc. It was essentially a mandatory tip. But what was the point of a tip if it was mandatory? On top of that, the bill showed that an additional tip was optional. So figure a 25% tip total or 15% plus feeling guilty.

Although one of the staff said the water on the island was excellent, we both got diarrhea. But this was probably an issue with international travel in general - not the fault of the resort. Next time, we will try to stick with bottled water.

There were essentially no bugs - except for some tiny ants. And there were occasionally some cute lizards.

In summary, it was our best Caribbean trip to date we highly recommend the Radisson Aruba Resort.

5.0 stars One of the best vacations we have been on. Visited: December 2001

We stayed at the Radisson for five nights in December. We had an Ocean/Pool room in the Towers. It was worth every cent. The hotel is beautiful, the employees friendly, and the food is excellent. We are looking forward to a longer return visit next year.

5.0 stars It was the best! Visited: October 2001

We honeymooned at the Radisson last October and we were not disappointed.

First of all, the people who work there were so nice it was unbelievable! We immediately felt so comfortable and happy. Every time I see the ad for Aruba on television, I know there is truth in advertising!

The restaurants were great--the sandwiches and drinks at Gilligans (on the beach) were fantastic. The main/fancy restaurant (the name escapes me) was incredible - beautiful views, etc.

Our room was lovely with an ocean/garden view. The band played every evening (until 10:00 p.m.), so the nights we stayed in, we relaxed and listened to music on our balcony.

The resort was immaculate, the weather was perfect and the beaches were spectacular. I can't say enough about the people - from the men who set us up with huts on the beach, to the bartenders, the waiters and the bell man. We even saw the bell man at a local bar on his night off and he still treated us as though we were guests!

We spent a fortune, but it was well spent!

I discovered this site while researching our next Caribbean trip. It is hard when you've had the best to settle for anything less.

5.0 stars Perfect! Visited: August 2001

My husband and I stayed at the Radisson for our honeymoon and it was the most wonderful vacation we've ever taken. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff is incredibly helpful. The restaurants are delicious and the hotel is smack in the middle of the hotel strip, so lots of other dining options are within walking distance. The ocean view is 100% worth the price. We can't wait to go back!

5.0 stars Tropical resort amidst the desert! Visited: June 2001

This resort is beautiful! From the open-air lobby and exotic birds in the trees, to the huge zero entry pools, the Radisson is truly a gem on Palm Beach. The computers in the lobby to send/receive e-mail were an added plus, as well as the refrigerator in the room (requested upon check-in)—both provided free of charge.

Our room in the Aruba (main) tower was spacious and tastefully decorated, and the cable TV was enjoyed by the kids. Nice, friendly people topped off a wonderful vacation!

5.0 stars A beautiful resort on Palm Beach! Visited: June 2001
Posted by c_u_soon
The Radisson is spectacular! The pools and grounds are very well maintained and are definitely the largest on Palm Beach.

We had a gardenview room in the Aruba Tower (1312) that was pretty and quite spacious. Note that the band plays until 10:30 every evening is pretty loud. Not a nuisance, but if you want quiet, then another tower would be best. I requested a refrigerator upon check-in (free of charge) to keep soda, beer, juice, milk, and luncheon meats. The Internet access in the lobby (free of charge) is an added plus, and is very handy for checking and sending e-mail.

The grounds are very lush and the exotic birds in the trees add to the tropical ambiance.

The staff is very helpful and friendly with any request. This resort is beautiful, and is truly on "one happy island!"

5.0 stars A Perfect Vacation! Visited: June 2001

The Radisson in Aruba was awesome. The property is very well maintained and beautiful. The staff was extremely eager to please all the guests. The restaurants were also great. We stayed in a room with only a partial view of the ocean. It was still beautiful. The room was very big and the balcony was great! I highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely go back and stay there.

This was a wonderful honeymoon. The staff was super friendly and the beach was beautiful. They have lots of parrots and birds that they take out everyday, and the grounds are immaculate. The island is safe and locals for the most part are cool.

4.0 stars As true as the advertisements. Visited: September 2000

My girlfriend and I visited Aruba after visiting St. Thomas, St. John and other tropical destinations within a 24-month period. Radisson was not my first choice, however, this facility transcends the Radisson name.

It was beautiful and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was top priority for us and we were not disappointed. The beaches were really nice compared to St. Thomas' Magan's Bay (Among Top 10 in the world). I would recommend this particular Radisson resort to the pickiest traveler.

5.0 stars Absolutely Awesome! Visited: July 2000

I stayed at the Radisson Aruba in July of 2000. It was the feeling of complete and total comfort. From the beautiful white sand beach on the property, to the rooms, and the hospitality, this was the place to stay.

The gardens were simply beautiful. There were Parrots, and wonderful flowers.

I can't say enough about the Radisson Aruba.

I will be staying at this location often.

After recent renovations, this is definitely a five-star resort. Our deluxe oceanfront room was large with a nice balcony. Service is first rate and the pool area is awesome. You couldn't ask for more.

My husband and I stayed at the Radisson in July, 2002 as honeymooners, and I am still dreaming about it today! What an enchanting place - and what excellent service.

We actually just booked our second trip to Aruba (six years later) with our two-year-old daughter. Although we're not staying at the Radisson, I wish we were! The accommodations were amazing, and I didn't want to leave!
