They almost killed my son. Visited: June 2008
Posted by sadmom
I just got back from the Divi All Inclusive.

When I got to my hotel room, the AC was not working. I had to make three phone calls to the front desk before it was fixed. We were here for five days, and we had a horrible experience.

My son got food poisoned at the Divi Aruba. I ended up in the emergency room and spent four of my five-day stay cooked up inside my room taking care of my sick son. He got 103 fever, and could not stop going to the bathroom.

The staff seemed more concerned about me not suing the hotel, but not concerned about my son. I will never go to the Divi Aruba All Inclusive hotel.

We enjoyed great food, fun entertainment and beautiful beaches Visited: April 2003
Posted by cyndyok
We recently returned home from a wonderful week at the Divi. My husband and I spent our honeymoon here 17 years ago, and loved it then. It was even more beautiful then we remembered.

We went back this time with a group of 24 people - including people from ages 8 to 85. We all loved it and found the food, the beaches, the friendliness of the staff, the rooms and the nightly entertainment all great.

We all agree that the Divi Aruba Beach Resort is the best, and we can't wait to go back.

An excellent value for your money. Visited: February 2003

My wife and I just returned from the Divi Mega on March 1, 2003. The beach was beautiful with white sand and turquoise water. There were no beach vendors or beggars. Our room was also very nice-tropical furnishings and large ocean view balcony.

The buffet restaurant and the Red Parrot (a la carte) were excellent. There were also excellent sandwiches and pizzas available from the bar. The breakfast buffet did not have huge variety, but everything was high quality, especially the baked goods. There was a very good selction of foods at lunch buffet.

I would recommend dinner every night at the Red Parrot. The selection included aobut 7-8 appetizers and 6-7 entrees. Argentinian beef was excellent. Wines offered by the glass-
French, Italian, Chilean and even Californian. Our waiter, David, was a real character.

It looked like they spent a lot of money on refurbishing public areas; it looked like something you would see in Bali or Thailand.
We talked to some people who had initially registered at the Tamarijn next door. We were told they had shabby, dated rooms.

Don't bother with a la carte restaurants there either-Italian and oceanfront Palm Court. They had big portions, but were lacking in taste and ambiance.

The staff was friendly and seemed to like their jobs.
We would definintely recommend Aruba. We received a much better value than in Barbados. It reminded us of Antigua.

The weather was perfect-about 85 degrees during the day and 80 at night. It rained for only 10 minutes during the entire week. Constant trade winds made it very comfortable, and there were no bugs at all. Iguanas ran freely, almost like squirrels in North America.

Guests were about 70% American, 20% Dutch and maybe 10% Canadian/other. It was an older crowd-average age must have been mid-forties.

Enjoy your stay!

A true tropical paradise. Visited: September 2002

Iit was incredible.

They had extraordinary beaches and wonderful people. The rooms were very nice with a great king sized bed. We were right on the beach. The iguanas were plentiful and fun to watch (don't feed them).

Breakfast and lunch buffets were excellent, but we were disappointed in the dinner buffet. However, the Red Parrot and Paparrazi restaurants were excellent. We also ate in town one night at El Gaucho (the best steak we've ever had).

Divi Resort was full of fun. Carnival night and limbo contests were the best. Drinks were plentiful, and the drinks of the day were great. We're definitely coming back.

The most beautiful place on earth! Visited: September 2002

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Divi and we loved it! The room was good...we opened the door and there was the most beautiful beach ever! If you love waves in the ocean, this is the place to be! We had a Vista room and the waves were unreal!

The drinks were great and the drinks of the day were cool! Try them all!
The Alhumbra was so close and, yes, people do win in Aruba...we did the first night! We just got back and are already booking to go again and stay at the Divi! Brick oven pizza..that is all I have to say!

The excellent beach made this resort. Visited: August 2002
Posted by prich
We stayed seven nights at the Divi. The rooms were nice for a 35-year-old resort.

The food made me hungry for the states. Only three dinners were good enough to fill us up, and breakfast was the best meal. Thank goodness for the pizza oven where they cooked up excellent pizzas, and ham and cheese sandwiches - it saved us.

We didn't feel the food and activities were very kid-friendly either. There were lots of places to shop in town. The beach was the best thing about this place - it was excellent.

Just footsteps from our patio, and we were on the white sands beach. The employees were polite, but not overly friendly. It felt like you were inconveniencing some of the bartenders.

All in all, we had fun, but the food and rooms could use a makeover. And, you will be hit up for a timeshare, but they were nice to us and gave us our choice of a nice gift.

I will go back to Aruba if I get the opportunity, but I'll try another place to stay. Be sure and take the DePalm Jeep Safari - it's worth the money. We were disappointed with the DePalm Snorkeling, but the wind was blowing very strong that day and there was no windblock for where you snorkel.

A laid back vacation at its best. Visited: March 2002
Posted by kldbbd
We had heard good things about the Divi Beach and I was pleased to find that most of them were true!

The location was great (the best stretch of beach), there were a wide range of ages, and the atmosphere was very low key and laid back (you could be in your bathing suit morning noon and night and no one cared!).

The bars were good, and didn't serve watered-down drinks like other all-inclusives we have been to. The rooms were clean and big enough with a great terrace leading to the beach.

However, the food was just okay. Breakfast and lunch were great, very convenient and well rounded. The dinners after the first two nights got a little old, even with the Red Parrot (the sit down restaurant). Everything started to taste and look the same. If we go again, we would probably go out at night and just "eat" the cost of dinner.

The Divi Beach was, by far, the better of the two resorts. The Tamarijn was very old. The buffet was not very well maintained and the overall atmosphere was not as nice.

Be sure to take advantage of the scheduled activities. We really liked the bike and snorkel trip.

Overall, a good place to stay with a laid back attitude.

It was the best time we ever had! We can't wait until our next visit! Visited: September 2001

My husband and I stayed at the Divi on our honeymoon September of 2001. We had the time of our lives! Everyone here was extremely friendly.

The room had a beautiful view. We had a blast at the honeymoon party, also! The casino was probably my husband's favorite thing! Having the Alhambra Casino so close, made things easier. I must say....we won!

There are no words to describe how beautiful the water was....you have to see it for yourself. There was a wide variety of food. Drinks were great too....especially the daquiris! This gave me a chance to do a lot of sampling.

All-inclusive was definitely the way to go! We are planning our next visit to Aruba in November and we are definitely staying at the Divi once again! I recommend this resort to anyone. I cannot imagine any other resort being better than this one! Go see it for yourself!

The island is the bomb! We had the best honeymoon ever. The people are friendly and attentive. The Divi has the best part of the beach. We did visit other resorts to claim our honeymoon giveaways and their beaches weren't as beautiful as at the Divi.

There was not too much to do, and I found myself bored at times. However, I still wish I were there, walking along the beach, meeting new people and lying in front of the ocean all day long. It was great!

Not having to pay for a thing was perfect and the pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches were awesome! I wish I could go back and do it all over again!

A relaxing retreat with excellent service. Visited: April 2001
Posted by Fosterchow
The best feature of Divi Aruba Beach Resort is the staff made the effort to make you welcome and gave you the impression that they wanted you to come back.

While not a 5-star resort, it was clean, the meals were excellent, the staff responsive and the price was reasonable. It was a great feeling not to need to worry about carrying cash or figuring out what was a good place to eat. The Pelican Restaurant (buffet style) had an impressive choice of meals and they did a very good job of keeping the selections hot and fresh. The service was great. The wait staff really hustled. The two ala carte restaurants were slower but gave you a chance to enjoy the food and wine. Plus the pizza bar was fun and made great pizza and sandwiches. As expected, the drinks were plentiful and varied.

A good sign was that they were working on the resort while we were there. Upgrades mean that they are not cutting back, but looking to get better.

If you are looking for a good value, good service, clean rooms and good food then this is the place. Its not a Four Seasons, but who wants it to be. You could dress for dinner if you want or go casual; either way felt comfortable and appropriate.

We would go back without question.

Simply Paradise! Visited: April 2001
Posted by sml_90
This was the first time my wife and I traveled to Aruba. The moment we stepped off of the plane, we fell in love with this "happy little island"! We had reserved a garden view, but just before we arrived, requested an ocean view. Wow! Right out our front patio was sugar-white sand, palm trees, and the most incredible blue water. Almost everyone we talked to agreed that Eagle Beach (upon which Divi is located), is by far the best beach on the island. Our room was great. It was a good size and very clean. We had a king-sized bed, which was nice. The grounds as a whole were very lush and clean and there were lots of iguanas; we loved it!

The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Especially Juancho, the bartender at Pelican Terrace Bar, who pours some mean drinks. Make sure and call him "Doc"!

The food all in all was very good! The buffet-style that you get at the Pelican Terrace (Divi Aruba) and Palm Court (Tamarijn) was good for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was a little less desirable, but it was not bad. If you want five-star gourmet dining, make reservations at either the Red Parrot (Divi) or Poparazzi (Tamarijn). Incredible eats!

We rented a Suzuki Samarai for $38/day from Touristica Rentals, which was a great deal. They drop it off at the resort for you and pick it up when you’re done. Make a trip to the California Lighthouse and baby beach. Aruba is such a neat island. The landscape is so diverse, from the white-sand beaches on the coast to a desert-like interior with cacti.

We would definitely suggest the all-inclusive package; it was so convenient. There was no need to leave the resort except for sightseeing and shopping. Not having to carry a wallet and worry about losing cash was wonderful. We definitely got our money’s worth in food and drinks, too.

We would highly recommend this resort to anyone. We have already decided that we will be back for another wonderful vacation.

I highly recommend the Divi Aruba! Visited: January 2001
Posted by kmoore
My husband and I went to Aruba for our honeymoon. I let him make all the arrangements from choosing the destination to the accomodations, so I was a bit leary.

He told me he chose a property that was all-inclusive, which I wasn't too sure about. But, I was pleasantly surprised. What a beautiful resort!

We had the best time at the Divi Resort. Of course, the weather had a little bit to do with it. But the staff was also so nice and helpful. They made excellent recommendations for activities. We did the bike tour and the snorkeling that the resort sponsored. We had a great time.

The food was great, there was a good variety. We ventured out a few nights for dinner downtown, but it wasn't necessary. I guess it was so we could get the flavor of Aruba.

The fact that we didn't need to carry a wallet with us all the time was great. We just went to the outside bar or the restaurant and everything was paid for. I loved that feature.

We enjoyed sitting at the outside/poolside bar for a late evening Pinini or open-pit pizza. It was very relaxing. Also, it was the first time I ever drank a "Bahama Mama". It turned out to be my drink of the week.

The beach was absolutely the best. We walked a few times up and down the stretch of beach and found that the Divi Eagle beach was the best.

The grounds were very well manicured and clean. I loved the fact that our room was on the ground floor and our sliding glass doors and patio led out to palm trees and the white sandy beach just beyond that.

We would definitely recommend the Divi Resort to anyone wanting to go to a relaxing, yet exciting place. We are taking a cruise and are very anxious to stop at the island of Aruba again and check out the Divi Resort.

We go back year after year! Visited: October 2000
Posted by kdhdsnyder
My boyfriend and I have visited the Divi Divi 3 times so far - October 1998, 1999, 2000; with the 4th trip planned for this October.

We love it there. We leave our work behind, for a week of good food, good times, and lots of sun.

Although the rooms leave much to be desired (definitely not a luxury hotel), we just put it into perspective. We spend such little time there, and when you compare it to all of their good qualities, it's easy to overlook. I must say, though, since our 1st trip there to the last, we have seen some serious improvements to the property. I look forward to seeing what has changed when we go there this year.

We tend to choose the Gardenview in the Veranda Building—we've found that to be the best spot. From the 2nd floor you can see clear out into the ocean. Beware: those rooms that they say are oceanview may only be when you strategically stand on the very corner of your patio. We learned that our first year. I would recommend the Veranda building (Gardenview) also because it has it's own pool. This is very nice in the late evening when the main pool is surrounded with party-goers. Last year, they were renovating the rooms in the building while we were there, so hopefully we'll see a difference this time around.

Our favorite bartender, Rolondo, is always quick to recognize us from the years prior and make us feel very welcome. His "hurricane" drink is fabulous!

The food is acceptable; however, we choose to dine out at some of the nicer restaurants for dinner. Although I must say, the seafood at the Red Parrot on site is some of the best that I've had on the island. The grill at the Divi is a good choice for a quick pizza or paninni sandwich while laying around the pool.

Enjoy!

The Divi Aruba Beach Resort was the perfect low-rise resort! The food was great, the beach was breathtaking and the service was five-star. Our honeymoon was a blast! We are already thinking about a return trip! To see my photos of the resort and the island go to: http://members.tripod.com/~kimb3rl3y/Aruba.html

A good bargain Visited: November 1999
Posted by baltazar94
We stayed here in November, 1999. It was the first time we had done an all-inclusive trip. The hotel itself is old and so are the rooms. The toilet made noises all night and the furniture was so old that it was almost unacceptable. There was no remote control for the TV.

The maid service was great. They were very prompt and always left extra towels, pillows and blankets when I requested. I had e-mailed the Reservations Manager prior to arrival to try to upgrade to an ocean front room, but when I arrived, the room was as far away from the ocean as possible.

The food was okay, but slightly repetitive. The drinks were great. The Coco bar has pretty good pizza if you don't feel like going to a sit-down dinner. The Red Parrot was good, too, but the service was very slow. The beach is pretty nice, but it's tough to get a floater if you ask past 8 am. It seems that everyone gets them to sit on at the beach, so if you want one to actually float in the water, there's none available.

All in all, I would recommend this place if you are on a limited budget and eat and drink a lot. I, however, would prefer to pay a little bit more money for a nicer room.
