We went with another couple and had a fantastic time. We had some confusion with the all-inclusive package upon our arrival, but it was quickly taken care of by the front desk. The hotel was not the fanciest I've been in, and the food was not five star, but it was very nice. The breakfast buffet was great and the drinks weren't watered down. |

Allegro in Aruba - one happy resort on one happy island. Visited: July 2002 |

Our trip was wonderful! My husband and I took our long-awaited honeymoon at the Allegro in Aruba. We only stayed five days (not long enough). Most people we talked to said that 10 days was a good length of time to stay.
The beach at the Allegro was clean, white sand and the water was calm and clear. Every day was beautiful in Aruba.
The pool was nice and had a swim-up bar. It also had a waterfall and two hot tubs.
There were four different places to eat. Papayas by the pool, was nice for dinner or a light lunch. Topaz was a buffet for breakfast and lunch. If you like buffet style, you'll like Topaz. The Ballroom had shows and a dinner buffet. The shows were lip synched and the buffet was mediocre. We did miss the seafood buffet night, which I heard was good. Caruso's, the Italian restaurant, offered good service. We were told to avoid the sauce, so we had filet mignon and it was great.
The best part of the Allegro was the people! Everyone was so nice - especially Gino, Johnny, and Enrico. The people were of five-star quality.
We plan to go back to the Allegro next year! |

This was our second visit. I knew the rooms were dated, so because it was a surprise for my husband's 50th b-day, I called a day before and asked for a pool and Caribbean view. They gave us a beautiful updated room on the top floor.
For the price, we thought the food was great. We ate at Papaya's twice and had filet mignon that was very delicious. Caruso's was very good too, although the waterfall was quite noisy for that type of restaurant atmosphere.
After staying at the Atlantis in the Bahamas and paying a fortune and getting nothing (nothing to do after dinner), we felt that the Allegro's food, dinner show, sports bar/pool side entertainment was adequate. Also, our very clean room was very worth the money and you make your own fun!
Thanks Allegro - we'll see you next year! |

My husband, my six-year-old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the Allegro Resort.
My daughter loved the Kids Club program - Ruby was great. We enjoyed some alone time, soaking up the sun at the pool and the beach, and shopping on the island. The food was very good, with a good variety. The drinks were plentiful. All-inclusive was a great way to go.
The staff was very accommodating, and our room was nice and clean. Evening shows were also very well done. My only small complaint would be some language-barrier problems, but we worked around them. Overall, we had a wonderful time and plan to return sometime. |

We stayed at the Allegro for our honeymoon and we just loved it. It had a relaxed, casual atmosphere and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We are beach bums, and took full advantage of the gorgeous ocean. We are planning a return trip this year. |

The Allegro was a good value for the money.
The pool and beach were nice, and the food was good, but I probably would not do the all-inclusive again. There were so many other restaurant choices outside the resort.
The nightly shows weren't that good, but it was a nice resort overall. If money is no object, I would recommend the Hyatt next door, but the Allegro was not a disappointment. |

One of the better all inclusive resorts we have stayed at. Visited: April 2002 |

We just returned from a great week at the Allegro (a group of ten). We have tried all-inclusives in Nassau, Jamaica and in the Poconos (in the US) and this resort was a step above all of the others. But remember, you get what you pay for.
The rooms were clean, but aged. We were put on a smoking floor, but quickly relocated to a non-smoking room upon persistent request. The rooms were basic 1960s that could use some upgrading. Having said that, they were still more than adequate.
The beach and pool were great. There was always something going on at the pool and if you wanted peace and quiet, the beach was there for you.
The staff was always helpful, but not overbearing. They went out of their way to get something for us if we asked.
The food was better than any of the other all-inclusives. The breakfast and lunch buffets were very good, and the dinner buffet was okay. We had dinner at Papayas one night with everyone (all ten of us) having great meals. We had no complaints. Also, the shows were entertaining.
The saddest part of the resort was Carusos. The premier restaurant of the resort could have been upgraded by changing it to a fast food burger restaurant. One night my dinner tasted so bad that I asked someone else in my group to taste it. We agreed that the meal had to be a cruel trick by the chef. If you must eat at Carusos, order pasta. That was the only thing that could be considered edible. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the other places to eat. You will be better off.
The bars and drinks were standard bar brand drinks, with some exceptions. The bartenders were always there to accomodate you if they could with special requests.
If you want to go to an all -nclusive resort, very few are going to provide you with five star food, liquor and service. Allegro came closer than any other we have stayed in. We all agreed that we would consider returning in the future. |

A nice place to visit . . . Visited: March 2002 |

We recently returned from Aruba and our stay at the Allegro Resort. There were six of us(3 couples) and we went with an open mind. The resort was very clean and the service very good. The rooms were nice but showed their age. We had a great view with a comfortable king size bed. The balcony was small but was enjoyable.
The food was fair. We weren't expecting 5-Star, exquisite dining, but we did have slightly higher expectations. Most food was exceptionally bland, we kept looking for some type of local flavor, and there was very little seafood. We were least happy with our dinners. Breakfast was a nice buffet each morning with plenty of choices. Lunch was also fairly nice. We ate at both Papaya's where they have nice sandwiches(avoid the hamburgers and cobb salad). We also tried the lunch buffet a couple of times. A nice variety of food but not quite what we expected for the price.
Dinners were BAD! Your choices are the buffet, Papaya's, or Caruso's. The latter two require reservations. Papayas was sad. At first glance the menu looks great. A nice variety, but again where were the seafood offerings? After all, it is an island. The steaks were edible but not cooked as ordered, the shrimp bisque was like weak tomato soup with tiny, tiny shrimp, and the vegetables were cold. The deserts were bad too.
Caruso's, their premier restaurant, was fair. I'll spare the details and just say "don't set your expectations too high". Service was very good and helped make up for food that was lacking and overcooked. Lastly was the pizza. Unfortunately it doesn't open until six o'clock. It was the best food in the resort but they don't alow carry outs.
Drinks are plentiful and of fair quality. Your choice of beer at the Allegro is either draft Amstel when they have it, or the native Balashi. It would also have been nice if the bars served appetizers or had some type of snacks i.e. pretzels or peanuts, etc. We tended to eat late and like to have a few drinks before we went for dinner.
Over all, we enjoyed the trip a lot. Aruba is clean and safe with a lot to do. If you're an avid scuba diver, this is not your island. We only did one dive because there isn't much to see.
They do offer a dine-out exchange program. Be sure and ask about it as they don't explain it well when you arrive, and for 6 nights stay you get six $25 certificates per person. Use them! Try the Waterfront Seafood Grill. Off the list, definitely go to El Gaucho (Argentinian). Best restaurant in Aruba! |

The staff was great, the food and drinks were good, but the rooms were old. Visited: March 2002 |

My wife and I just got back from a one-week, all-inclusive stay at the Allegro. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.
Elmo and Nancy, from the on-site Papaya and Topaz restaurants, were great! They were friendly and very attentive. John Kelly, from the Vacation Club in the lobby, was also very nice.
The food was pretty good. Caruso's (Italian) Restaurant was also excellent. The pool area was beautiful, the casino was very nice, and the shows at the hotel were hokey, but fun.
Although the drinks were good, they were watered down. Scooby, on the beach, was extremely obnoxious. He should have been helping people with the various watersports available on the beach, but spent most of his time hitting on every woman within eyesight.
The rooms and furnishings in the Allegro were old and needed to be updated. The balconies were way too small to spend any time on.
We would stay at the Allegro again, but would not go all-inclusive. There were many other nice restaurants on the island to go to. |

An Allegro All-Inclusive Summary Visited: March 2002 |
| Posted by pdinella |
 |
Here are what I consider the positives about my recent stay at the Allegro (all inclusive):
The rooms were basic and good, the food was good with very few exceptions and the service was very good. Also, the hotel was clean and in good repair.
The beach was large and well-kept. I also thought the vouchers for eating outside Allegro was a very good idea. (You must go to Amazonia - a five minutes walk from the hotel.)
By going all-inclusive, you save money - especially if you like beer.
The areas in which I thought were average or poor were: the hotel Italian restaurant, Caruso (it was below average unless you think canned ravioli is good Italian food).
While the beach was excellent, some of the social aspects were annoying to me because the beach was so well attended. I prefer quiet beaches like the ones in St. Martin.
While the hotel provides wonderfully for beach habitation, a large percentage of the "beach dwellers" can take the edge off the experience. If you don't mind "Bingo screams" from the winners at poolside; locals with exaggerated island personalities geared toward making visitors ooh! and aah! over their happy, unrestrained gesticulations, loud voices and repetitive island music...then the beach is the place for you. So that's just me, and if these things don't bother you in the least or you like this kind of environment, disregard everything I've just said.
While beer was good the other drinks were poor. That will not matter if you like island drinks that mask good quality liquor or wine. |

Do not do the Vacation Club! Visited: January 2002 |

We have had a nightmare for 3 years with the Vacation Club. The resort is okay, but once you buy into this you have one headache after another. Nobody can help you. They have overcharged me, said that I didn't pay, wouldn't give me reservations for the next year because something isn't paid even though they have automatic withdrawal! |

Absolutely fabulous Visited: January 2002 |

I took my daughter to the Allegro for a winter getaway. It was one of the best resorts I've been to. Every single employee was friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. They went out of their way to help us from the moment we checked in until we checked out.
The food was also very good. We had rack of lamb and filet mignon for dinner, and the Allegro gave us each $100 credit to use at off-site restaurants. I thought that was a nice touch. The buffets at the Topaz were very good with many great selections. My daughter loved getting a different omlet every morning. We also loved lunch and dinner at the Papaya.
I loved swimming up to the pool bar to grab a quick drink. There was also a nice bar on the beach. The bars were stocked with brand-name liquors. We saw two dinner shows. Those buffets were wonderful with very good selections and we really enjoyed the shows. The Caruso was also a fabulous Italian restaurant.
We had a deluxe room on the eigth floor with an absolutely beautiful view of the tranquil Caribbean and the lush pool grounds. I took a picture of this amazing view every morning when I woke up.
We had a nice relaxing massage at the spa. There were also some nice stores in the lobby.
It was a very relaxing vacation and the employees made our stay fabulous. I will definetly return to the Allegro. |

A great spot for family. All-inclusive for teenagers and handicapped! Visited: January 2002 |
| Posted by buckeyek |

Our family (which includes two 14-year old daughters) enjoyed a wonderfully restful, extremely active and no-hassle week at this bustling resort.
I was nervous. It was our first big vacation traveling with my wheelchair and we knew nothing about the island. Relatives had stayed at the Allegro Turks & Caicos and highly recommended the facility.
The staff and amenities quickly calmed me down. Everything was accessible - the pool, the restaurants -even the beach! The staff seemed genuinely happy with each other and the quests. They were helpful and very friendly. There were a lot of activities that were included at the resort...hobie cats, pool activities and dinner shows (quite good). We went diving and rented a car for a day at our cost.
The rooms needed some updating and the balconies were useless...what a waste! But the ocean view was spectacular!
The quality and variety of the food was great - even a pizza place was open till 1 a.m. The breakfast and lunch buffets were perfect. That's the only way to go with different tastes.
We met many people who come here all the time. There were even people who were staying for a couple months! The pool was the best! We walked the boardwalk along the beach in front of all the hotels and the Allegro pool was, by far, the most popular.
We had a wonderful trip. We loved the all-inclusive concept and we will stay here again. |

My husband and I spent two weeks at the Allegro Resort for our honeymoon. What an amazing place to be!
We had the best time of our lives. Not only were the food and staff great, but the island was breathtaking. We highly recommend it to everyone who wants to escape reality for just a couple of weeks. We will be back soon. Thank you for a great stay. |

The best vacation ever. Visited: October 2001 |

First of all, before I say anything about our stay at Allegro I want to thank the Lord for getting us there safely. Having said that, this was our honeymoon and it was the most romantic and exciting time of my life.
My new husband and I couldn't be happier with the staff, and the food, and all that went with this wonderful "island style" hotel. The room was not a penthouse suite, but it was very special to us, and it had a certain charm to it.
The dancers and actors that performed the shows nightly were so sweet and friendly. They weren't "stuck up" like some performers are; they played volleyball on the beach everyday, and were geared towards the younger crowd, which was awesome.
The beach was beautiful and watching the sun set at 6:30 every night was pure heaven. The drinks at the swim-up bar were great, and I suggest no more that 2 "blue lagoons" (they will knock you on your butt)!
The local men and women there are so sweet, they couldn't be more helpful. Everyday we were greeted with a hello and a smile from housekeeping in the hallway.
The breakfast buffet was by far the best one I have ever seen. All of the food was great, we went all-inclusive and that was the best way—the al a carte prices we out of this world.
We loved this hotel and can't wait to come back! It was a great honeymoon, and we will always remember our stay in Aruba at Allegro Resort!

Relaxing and so much fun! Visited: September 2001 |

My husband and I loved Allegro Resort. This was our second time there. We went for our one-year wedding anniversary. The staff is so much fun. Joe and I got involved with everything. Some of the staff remembered us from last year, which was nice. We had a lot of fun with Mammo and Bosco. They brought my husband into one of the acts, the Transvestite Night. We went with another couple that we made friends with last year.
If you go to Allegro you have to make sure that you see Scubby on the beach. Tell him his friends from New York that were there the week of the September 11th tragedy, say hello. He will remember us. It was a week nobody will forget. The staff could not have been better.

My two cents. Visited: September 2001 |

Overall, We had a very nice experience at Allegro.
Employees: The employee's were wonderful and very friendly. We just got back, so our vacation took place during the awful tragedy on September 11th in the US. All of the employees were so helpful and concerned about us. They tried their hardest to help out in any way and were extremely respectful of what was happening.
Food: The food was okay. They had great bread and great ice cream.
Rooms: They were terrible. They are the quality of a Motel 8 or dated Holiday Inn. We did ask for a new room, and they were very accommodating. It did turn out to be a little better, but nothing great. We too were promised a king, but ended up spending our honeymoon in two separate full beds! Ha! The rooms were very clean, though!
Pool and Beach: Fantastic and beautiful! Everything was extremely clean. I have no complaints about either! The pool activities, in my opinion, were a little too "cheesy" for me, but it seemed like most people enjoyed them.
Overall, Aruba was a great place. The whole Island was filled with great, friendly people. I was very impressed. Everyone there spoke English, too. So you’ll have no problem communicating.
A few other things:
We ate at El Goucho (downtown) - it was great!
We snuba-ed - fantastic!
We did the submarine trip - not fun at all!
We did a safari jeep tour - really cool!
We went horseback riding. - I am an experienced rider and it still scared me, but it was fun!

Disappointed in room and staff attitude. Visited: August 2001 |
| Posted by photobow |
 |
Our room was in need of repair. The closet doors were broke. There was a bathroom leak that made carpet wet. A light fixture in bathroom was hanging down and the light switch had to be turned on and off to make it work. Staff courtesy seemed forced, and only a few were genuinely helpful.
The drinks were very watered down and the food was okay, except for the Caruso, which was A-1. The Topaz did not serve a dinner buffet, only breakfast and lunch, but the breakfast was great. Also there was no ironing board in the room and to get one seemed an inconvenience to the staff.
Aruba is a beautiful island and we are returning next year, but for sure not to Allegro. I will say that the pool area is beautiful and all of the rooms have a view of the Caribbean. The beach is gorgeous, but I can’t give the hotel credit for that.
Our stay in Aruba was a lot of fun but that is due to the charm of the island itself. This is an honest report of our experience, but I think there are other hotels that will make our next trip more pleasurable. |

Kris and I went to Aruba for our honeymoon and it was great. The hotel is targeted to a younger crowd that are ready to have fun. There are activities throughout the day with fun and enthusiastic people! The food was good, but the waiters and waitresses do have trouble smiling.
Our room was the only flaw. Our honeymoon was spent in a full-sized bed rather than the king that was promised, and when we walked in a few things were missing—a clock, remote, towels, and closet doors. A telephone quickly fixed most of the problem, yet the front desk manager could not change our room to fix the bed situation. We made the best of it and enjoyed our time!

The resort is great, but the people working here are not. Visited: August 2001 |

The resort itself is beautiful. The rooms are very nice and much like a typical hotel room. My only complaint with this place is the people working there.
Mainly the food service staff is the source of my complaints. The waiters, waitress and cooks were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. We did the all-inclusive, which I highly recommend because the price for food and drinks are outrageous!
The only place we encountered above average service was the Italian restaurant at the resort. (They don't tell you, but you can eat there every night.) The food and people there were excellent.
I guess because they don't work off of tips, they don't feel it is necessary to be polite or smile. I will be back to Aruba and probably even this place. I just know what to expect from the staff next time.
