1.0 stars Don't stay here. Visited: June 2007

I own one of these, and I was embarassed by how dirty this place was.

The staff was rude and unfriendly; the food was awful; and the bartenders at the Bunker Bar wouldn't let us buy beverages there. We had to go to the Divi Village to get a drink.

Do not stay here!

3.0 stars After the first night, I liked to call the wood "quaint". Visited: February 2005

I own at Phoenix and Divi Village, but I had to stay at the Dutch this time.

After reading a review here that referred to it as "shoddy", I was not the best guest the first night. The next day I apologized to the lady for acting like I did. I couldn't work the terrace door at first, and the remote was strange.

Also, the jacuzzi was on my balcony which called for a bathing suit each time. But, after doing my usual Clorox, ammonia tub and jacuzzi night long soak, and getting some sleep, I decided that the Dutch was just different.

The wooden furniture and bed with the tiles probably had a story woven into them, and the leather chairs did seem to be well taken care.

Because of guest comments, they are changing these rooms, and this furniture is supposed to be like the furniture in IKEA - pretty on the outside, yet no history and not long lasting.

In short, I enjoyed my neighbors who were seniors who have used the property for twenty-seven years. Yes, the Tamarijn was too noisy with fresh kids and hormones running about. But right behind it, still on the beach was a quiet place to reflect on life.

Please don't turn Aruba into another America. We are already seeing how our ways are damaging our children, our health, etc.

1.0 stars I have had better accomadations at a Motel 6 Visited: September 2004

The Dutch Village leaves a lot to be desired. From the 1.5 hr check in time to the rooms that had bugs, no lights and a leak in the ceiling. I would guess this is one of the worst resorts on the island. However, it did appear they were remolding all the buildings so maybe next year it will be a completely different story.

1.0 stars The staff was very nice. Visited: September 2003

The staff was very nice and very accommodating. The property was just okay. It was not what the pictures looked like, however. It was on the beachside of the road, but you had to look through the Tamarjin Resort, which was a two-story resort. So, we could not see the beach from our room.

1.0 stars Much to be done to bring to par Visited: February 2002

Resort has slipped as a result of lack of maintenance funds. Basics have not been done, so it looks shoddy. Help is great but they cannot do much. Teaser apartment has been done but not rolled out.
