Since 1973 we have used the beauty of the environment of the Bahamas for inspiration in our print designs and brilliant colours. Androsia has a complete line of women's, men's, and children's batik clothing as well as accessories, home goods, and fabric sold by the yard.rnrnIn 1973, at the same time the Bahamas became an independent country, a small cottage industry was formed by Dick and Rosi Birch of Small Hope Bay Lodge. The idea started when they watched a guest occupy children on a rainy day with a batik craft project. This was a product that they reasoned could be unique, colourful, and 100% Bahamian done. Once the fabric was made, it could be sewn into easy care island garments. This would help employ single women with families, an objective that was especially important to the Birches.rnrnThey developed the concept that each yard would be hand done. Every print would symbolize a natural element found in the Bahamas, and all the colours would be colours pulled right from the islands.rnrnAndrosia is sold throughout the inhabited islands of the Bahamas as well as at the factory outlet store in Fresh Creek, Andros and online at www.androsia.com. Comprising 20,500 acres in Southern Abaco near Hole In The Wall, this National Park has been designated as a preservation area by the Bahamas Government and is managed by The Bahamas National Trust. Nesting within this 5,000 acres of pine forest are about 1,000 endangered Bahama or "Abaco" Parrots. In addition to the parrot, a large variety of birdlife are protected in this area. Take a half-hour boat ride, dive and descend 20-30 feet, grab a comfy spot on the sandy bottom, and watch the sharks with your own eyes. A bit of a journey, but a great spot for anyone looking for a secluded powder sand beach. Added bonus - sweeping views from the cliff that separates the blue hole and protected beach from the Atlantic Ocean. Snorkeling over the blue hole is a unique experience.

Visit one of the most beautiful beaches in Exuma, named because of its geographical location. The Tropic of Cancer runs directly through it, located on the outskirts of Williams Town in Little Exuma. Great snorkeling!

Take a stroll through George Town, connected to Elizabeth Harbour, and visit St. Andrew's Anglican Church, the Straw Market, local craft and clothing stores and the unique neoclassical Government Administration Building.
