We stayed at this hotel for four night and never again. The lamps were broken and the sliding glass doors would not lock. The beds were thin and probaly had not been replaced since the hotel opened. The restaurants were outrageously expensive and the food was mediocre. The drinks were overpticed and they made you buy a cheap plastic souvineer glass with the first drink and would charge you again if you did not bring it with you after that. Stay away. |

We had booked a deluxe oceanview room and were given a room in the J Tower, which is oceanview via the side. We were surrounded by a basketball team on all four sides. Needless to say, we did not get any sleep the first part of the week.
The bathroom lights did not work; they were dark, dreary and in need of repair. You had to be a weightlifter to open the slider door. The restaurants were overpriced, there was no beach per say, but you could use the beaches on either side of the hotel, which were nice.
The pool was beautiful. They will not give you a room before check in time of 4pm, so plan accordingly. We took the #10 bus and went to town to kill a few hours.
When we were checking out, we mentioned our disappointment with the room. They will go out of their way to please you, which we appreciated. When you book, you want to make it clear that you want to face the ocean, which would be oceanfront. (Although they don't list any of their rooms as oceanfront, they are all oceanview.) If it's spring break, you want to be in the tower with no kids, we found this out the hard way. While in Nassau, make sure you check Senor Froggs, it's a fun place to have a drink or dinner. |

Crystal Palace has become a "home away from home". Visited: October 2002 |

I have been visiting Cable Beach two to three times a year for the last 10 years and spend the majority of my time in the Crystal Palace.
I have stayed as a guest in the hotel on at least three occasions. I will be visiting again in May 2003, and am looking forward to my trip!
The staff at these resorts has been more than friendly and accommodating to all reasonable needs. Obviously, in slowed economies, when tourism is down, even the finest establishments cannot employ as many people to cater to all our needs. I do, however, see many familiar faces each time, and though they may not always recall my name, I am certain I am recognized.
The employees of both these establishments understand that their livelihood depends on the comfort of their guests. I highly recommend these attentive, professional businesses. |

Thoroughly disappointed in Marriott Visited: July 2002 |

My family (of 5) stayed here instead of the Atlantis due to price. I wish I would have spent the extra money and/or stayed a shorter period and gone to the Atlantis! The first night I had to request a roll away bed 3 times (once an hour for 3 hours) before I got it. Mind you, this request was made at the time of reservation. In addition, all 3 times I requested bedding for the roll away and bedding for the sofabed. I did finally get the roll away but no bedding for either!
The outlet in the bathroom never worked, the glass sliding door to our balcony didn't work, and there was a dirty washcloth hung over the shower when we arrived that was still there when we left 6 days later!
I had the impression that the hotel had PLENTY of places to eat. The hotel was not booked up so the buffet was not open any night of our stay, the oriental restaurant was closed for remodeling, and the Gombay Mama restaurant was closed two days that week. That left the Black Angus Steakhouse ($250 for 5 for dinner) or the Sole Mare Italian restaurant ($237 for dinner). I will not stay here again. |

The Casino was the only highlight. Visited: May 2002 |

My husband and I stayed at this resort with another couple when it was owned by Marriott. The location and the casino were the only highlights.
We participated in the all-inclusive option and found that a lot of the restaurants at the resort were extra money and the in-room safe rentals were not included as well. Also, if you arrive at the hotel before 3pm and go with the all-inclusive plan, they will not give you the all-inclusive bracelets to wear before check-in time. They expect you to pay for your food and drinks before that time. However, if you ask to speak with a manager, you can get that rule waived in a hurry.
The rooms could have been cleaner and the pool always had trash floating in it. We also noticed that the hotel is in need of updating and the paint was starting to peel off of the buildings.
The positive things were the location of the resort and that there is a large casino on the premises. Most attractions are within walking distance (good thing because cab fare is outrageous in the Bahamas). The beach is beautiful, but there are always locals stopping by your beach chair to sell their goods.
It’s possible that the hotel has improved since Wyndham took it over. I couldn't say because we have decided not to return to that property. |

I'm 18 and I've been to this hotel ever since I was born. It's a great place to stay. The people are always nice and there are lots of things to do for parents or kids. It is the best place ever! |

My husband and I were married at the Nassau Marriott on October 20th. The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist us. They made our stay, and our guests' stay absolutely wonderful.
The staff was attentive and very friendly. I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Nassau. we plan on returning for our anniversary.
Also, if you're looking to get married in Nassau, call the Nassau Marriott and speak with Patronia Johnson. |

We received charming hospitality in a magical hotel. Visited: September 2001 |

My husband proposed to me on Cable Beach in September 2000. It was the perfect spot. We went back in August for our honeymoon, and I also went in September with my mom.
We were treated so well during each of our trips here, but during the September 11th tragedy, the locals' compassion was so sincere. We have heard that other hotels increased their prices. Well not Nassau Marriott Resort and Crystal Palace Casino! They either reduced their rates or refunded guests a portion of their stay or food - and not just for the guests who gambled! (As most of us had to extend our stay until the FAA opened the airport - many did not budget for this extra time spent in Nassau.)
I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Not just beacuse the hotel is wonderful and the staff is so great, but because their hearts are in the right place. Thank you to the entire staff at Nassau Marriott. We can't wait to come back! |

Clean rooms, inconsiderate staff Visited: August 2001 |

I travel for a living and swear by Marriott hotels, but not this one. You get the feeling that you are in the way of the staff when they are doing their jobs. The room was clean, but a little tired and paint was peeling. My wife was not strong enough to open the sliding glass door without help.
The pool was great, and the beaches were clean. But there was no fish life, and they had to rope off the water 30 yards out, otherwise you’ll get run over by lots of personal watercraft. Snorkel somewhere else.
The Rain Forest Theater show was a joke and not worth the money. The Radisson, which was connected via the Casino, had much better food. All of the restaurants in the area charge the gratuity automatically. So watch out and don't end up tipping twice.
Although, after visiting another popular (and overpriced) resort we felt a little better about our stay.

This was my second trip to the Bahamas (first to Nassau) and I could not have had a better experience. The staff at the Marriott were the best. They were so nice, the place was clean, but the heater in the pool was on the blink. We have only been back for three weeks and I am already planning go again this fall. I highly recommend the Marriott for your stay. |

Nice place overall Visited: October 2000 |

The hotel has a very nice appearance. Our room was clean and nice looking. The hotel is very large and it can take 5-10 minutes to get from the casino to the rooms. The pool is spectacular; lean with a neat slide and they have great games and activities all day long.
There really isn’t a beach so you have to go next door. Water activities are all around and they pick you up right there at the resort. There was an islander with a boat who sat right at the resort to take guests fishing. Try to bargain your price though because he didn’t take anyone out for three days in a row.
The casino is nice and they have a racehorse game that got my wife addicted for hours. Nice sports book room to bet on any and all the games.
The food was very good, but beware of the prices. We ate pizza almost every night at about 25.00. They had a nice buffet, but priced in low thirty-dollar range per person. Drinks from five dollars and up. Soda was $2 dollars in the machines and the water didn’t taste so great. I took a bus to shop in the town and spent $50 on chips, cookies, soda and bottled water.
The market downtown is a must see but bargain your prices down. We took a bus everywhere for about $1 and got to most places quickly. I wouldn’t recommend driving a car here; it is worst than rush hour in Chicago. Check with the bag guys out front to get you around to places. They were very nice.
The highlight of the trip was a powerboat trip to a private island. Priced about $150 per person, but food and drink came along with this full day trip. It was the best day of my life, spent feeding animals, potbelly pigs, and sharks. The hotel had a brochure for this trip ran by a fellow from Australia, but I can’t remember the name of the company.

My fiance and I stayed here on vacation. We loved the olympic size pool right next to the beach. We were upgraded without having to request it.
The rooms were very clean. They even had a super size king bed. The staff were very nice. It is easy to get downtown without renting a car. A public bus "jitney" stops right in front of the hotel. |

Dated and not what we were looking for Visited: July 2000 |
| Posted by elkinsl |
 |
For an oceanview corner suite, we were paying the rack rate. The room we were given was in a very sorry state. I could write paragraphs concerning the problems with the room. And, we were facing another tower, not the ocean as promised. The staff agreed to move us into the main tower the next day.
We visited another hotel the next morning and were offered an incredible price on a large suite on one of the executive level floors. When we returned to the Marriott that afternoon to check into our new room, the manager went with us. The room was much better than the original room, but did not compare to the other hotel we had visited. After hearing about our other option and knowing we were very serious about leaving, they offered us a penthouse suite at a substantially reduced rate from what we were originally paying for a corner suite. The decor was very dated, but it was spacious and had 1 1/2 bathrooms. So, we give them credit for trying to satisfy the customer.
The service was typically slow. Some staff members were wonderful, some were surly, and some did not care to be bothered.
The hotel interior and exterior was very dated and in need of repairs. This place was screaming for a renovation.
They no longer have a beach, and the lagoon was very smelly. Families will probably like the pool, the water slide, and the activities, but it was not what we were looking for.
Maybe I should give them a higher rating since we ended up with a very good deal, a penthouse suite at a fantastic rate, but, to think they even considered charging us the rate they did for the original dump of a room they gave us is unbelievable.
Would we stay there again? No. Do we appreciate the manager's efforts to rectify the situation? Absolutely! She was wonderful, extremely nice, and went the extra yard to make things more than right.

Just Alright Visited: May 2000 |

A group of 4 of us stayed at the Marriott and the hotel was just okay. We found it to be outdated in style and appearance, needing new paint. There was no beach; we had to go to the neighboring resort next door.
We found the service at the indoor restaurant to be terrible for breakfast; we waited for 40 minutes for the food to be delivered and another 30 minutes for our check.
Also, a word of caution, if you have never been to the bahamas: the activities vendors employ locals (dozens of them) to roam the beaches and solicit tourists for their booze cruises, hair braiding, jet skiing, etc. It became incredibly annoying, especially when we were looking for calmness and relaxation! |

Very nice resort Visited: April 2000 |
| Posted by ATraveler |
 |
We stayed for 3 nights in April. The hotel was very large and spectacular inside. The rooms were clean and the staff very attentive to our needs. The restaurants in the hotel were very good, but a little pricey as were the drinks (over $5 for a can of Bud, speciality drinks were as much as $6).
The pools were great and the view was extraordinary. The beach wasn't the greatest, but the Marriott, Radisson and Nassau Beach Resort were all pretty much connected with their beaches literally 50 yards on either side of the Marriott.
Some outside areas of the hotel were in need of paint and in fact were getting touched up while we where here, but it had no impact on our stay. I would recommend the Marriott for sure.

Good family resort Visited: February 2000 |
| Posted by ATraveler |
 |
Our family stayed for five days with our four children, it was a very easy trip from New York to Nassau. The food was well above average for a large resort. I would recommend taking the more expensive meal plan (the gourmet) which allows you to eat whatever you want at any of the restaurants.
The maids were not attentive to cleaning the rooms, but did come after being called daily. One note of caution for families: there are very few connecting rooms in the resort! When they tell you they can't guarantee one, believe them. They tried to give us rooms on different floors, then at different ends of the corridor, and we finally settled for rooms next door to each other but not connecting. If your children are young and this isn't an option, be forewarned.
It was, however, a very relaxing time and we would go back.

I have been to the Bahamas three times and every time I always stay at the Crystal Palace. It's like a dream come true. Everyone is so nice and there is so much to do. It's clean and has great service as well.
We will be back in the Bahamas soon and we know which hotel to stay at.

Not worth the money Visited: July 1999 |
| Posted by ATraveler |
 |
My husband and I and two children (ages 8 and 14) stayed here for 5 days. We were very, very disappointed with the room. There were water marks coming down the walls from the air-conditioning vent, the patio door to the balcony wouldn't open, and the toilet leaked. After numerous attempts to have the maintenance department check out the leaking toilet, we threatened to check-out of the hotel. We were given an oceanview room in another tower.
Disappointed again, the room was not very clean, we had ant problems, marks on the walls, and peeling plaster. But the view of the Atlantic was beautiful, so we stayed in that room.
The hotel as a whole was generally dirty. It reminded me of a hotel on the ocean in New Jersey....film on windows, grime on walls. The desk staff, restaurant staff, and most employees were not pleasant. They were not very attentive to the tourist's needs. Also, the food prices were outrageous in the hotel and nearby restaurants.
I was actually looking forward to going home to get away from this place. I will never go back again and will not recommend it.

Great place to stay. Visited: April 1999 |

I have been to Nassau several times, and never lodged at the Nassau Marriott until April of this year. I didn't realize how much I had missed out until then. My boyfriend and I stayed four nights and had a wonderful time (one of our best vacations together).
The staff were pleasant, our room had a lovely view and the food was superb (better than some of the restaurants in our hometown).
I encourage anyone traveling to Nassau to stay here. We are even considering the Nassau Marriott for accommodating our wedding party and guests.
