Even before you arrive at Tiamo, you begin to experience the pristine nature of South Andros. The driveway is the calm, beautiful ocean waterway called the South Bight. A pleasant, picturesque, fifteen-minute boat ride takes you to the front sidewalk - a private, white sand beach. You will soon come to realize why they call Tiamo "a nature lovers paradise."

Checking in is a laid back affair in the "Heart of Tiamo", the main lodge. There are no computers involved, no televisions around and the business of checking in usually involves a cold drink at the well stocked bar - it doubles as the check-in counter!

After a short orientation you will want to take your shoes off for a barefoot stroll amidst the coconut palms lining the beach to your private beachfront bungalow.

During a day of rest and relaxation, you may want to do a little snorkeling right off the beach of Tiamo. The calm waters of the South Bight make a good place for beginners who might want to practice before heading out to the Andros Barrier Reef. ere you may find lobsters in a limestone crevice, conch, rays, starfish, jacks and bonefish amidst the sea grass beds. Snorkeling equipment is available.

Kayaks are available for guests at any time. A relaxing paddle in the near shore waters of the South Bight can be an exciting self-guided adventure. You'll have many chances to encounter varieties of fish, sharks, rays, conch, starfish, porpoises and sea birds. You'll appreciate an entirely different ecosystem paddling into the mangrove estuaries near Tiamo.

There are several guided kayaking trips that leave from Tiamo and venture into the South Bight. Half-day trips leaving directly from Tiamo and full day trips can be arranged. Both trips offer guests a unique perspective on the ecosystem within the mangrove estuaries and its relationship to the Andros Barrier Reef.

The calm protected waters of the South Bight and the simple-to-use trim ran sail boats offer even the most diligent of "land lubbers" the freedom of the "wind in your sails". With just a quick lesson from one of the Tiamo team, in a few short minutes you (singly or with a partner) will be plying the gin clear waters of the South Bight.
