Our Sunspree stay was wonderful. Visited: February 2004 |

We planned this vacation from a fax received at work. Sunspree was beautiful. We took three children - our 15-year-old daughter and eight-year-old twin sons.
There was quite a selection of restaurants on site. We never ate elsewhere. They had pool tables ($1) and ping pong tables (free!)around the pool. There was also a video game room.
The room was clean, beautiful, and spacious. Our room also had a safe and a fridge. There were pools, a swim up bar, water slide, and a child care camp. It was also an easy walk to shopping, McDonalds, bus ($1 or $2) to Port Lucaya or downtown. We shopped downtown and found a good selection of ladies' clothes, shoes and purses!
We also did the Pirates of the Caribbean through the concierge, and it was awesome. We also enjoyed the bonfire on the beach, live music, limbo, and the all you can eat buffet. Please don't hesitate at this resort. Just do it! |

The Holiday Inn Sunspree has all been redone. I just got back from a short three-day special out of Florida, and all the resort is open and renovated!
The beach pool is now open - but hang on to your Speedos, because it's a fast water slide! The rooms are also updated and are very nice!
We will be back down this spring on a fly and stay deal. This is the place to go with the kids for a good value getaway. |

We have stayed at the Royal Oasis and visited Grand Bahama Island two times last year. The island is beautiful and many say it is cleaner than Nassau.
The Royal Oasis is a very nice hotel but isn't too upscale which fits my type. If you are looking for an upscale hotel, all you will do is complain here and this is not for you. I love this hotel also because it is close and within walking distances to many attractions such as the casino and bazaar.
I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn Sunspree. I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Sunspree. Both are very nice and each has their own specialities. |

I have stayed here when it was just the Princess, and enjoyed it then as a economical way of hitting the Caribbean.
Now that I have been here after all the renovations, I definitely love its new look. The new rooms are very well done, with nice additions of fridges and size and paint.
The new pool, of course, is well needed, but is also a grand addition to tie the two hotel sides together. Also, the staff has always been good and now everything just looks and feels that much better.
All in all, if you're looking for a nice, quick and cheaper getaway, this is a wonderful choice. |

This place is worth coming back to! Visited: November 2002 |

I have been visiting the Royal Oasis (formerly the Resort at Bahamia and the Princess Resort and Casino) for seven years. I have always enjoyed my stay in the Bahamas. The resort is conveniently located near ample shopping, dining, and Casino gaming. I love the laid-back atmosphere. It is nice, clean, and appealing, without being overly rigid and fancy.
I love the dramatic improvement in facilities and amenities with the recent room renovations (additions of refrigerators in-room is a great touch), and the addition of the new fresh-water sand pool and water slides. The casino renovation is a welcome change as well. The distance from the beach is not even an issue - it takes no time to get to the beach of your choice. The resort has been greatly improved and is a wonderful place to visit.
My only dissatisfaction is that Grand Bahama vacations in no way recognizes their repeat patrons or 'frequent flyers'. I have been on this trip to Freeport six times and have another scheduled in the coming months.
I wish they would offer deals or specials to those who have given them consistent and faithful business over the years. Or at least some type of comp or upgrade from time to time. The casino rewards their 'big spenders' with perks and this is great, however, not everyone can afford to drop an arm and a leg in the casino....especially when you visit a few times a year.
But, overall, the trip is worth taking. The island is beautiful. The resort staff and local people (for the most part) are fun and pleasant. The atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable. I'd recommend it to anyone! |

The hotel was really nice. The new pool was great, I just wish it stayed open later at night.
The only thing that worried me was, at night, they didn't turn the lights on in and around the pool and there were kids running and jumping in the pool. I just didn't want to see someone get hurt.
We will be coming back in May. This was our third time, and we loved it. Everyone was very friendly. We even met a cab driver from Virginia.
Go to Paradise Cove if you get the chance. It's great, and well worth the money. Our Lucaya was really pretty - take the public bus for $1. We caught the bus over from Burger King. This beach was way better than the one the free bus took us to. Spend the $1 - you'll be happy you did.
Like they say, "it's better in the Bahamas". We loved it and so will you. |

Royal Oasis Resort is "A-OK". Visited: August 2002 |

I did the Royal Oasis Bahama Resort (Holiday Inn Sunspree) package and I was satisfied. The package was $339 for me and that included non-stop, round-trip flight from Birmingham to Freeport and 3 days/3 nights. The only thing I had to pay for was my food. I had a wonderful time.
I enjoyed coffee in my hotel room (compliments of the coffee maker that was provided). I visited the International Bazaar located across the street from the hotel, then I took the free shuttle van from the hotel lobby to Xanadu Beach. The beach was beautiful and I walked in the water.
The casino restaurant, the Oasis Cafe, was wonderful. I also enjoyed the beautiful pool and water-slide located midway between the Sunspree and the Crowne. I had a wonderful time in that big beautiful pool.
I was able to take the city bus from the hotel to Our Lucaya Beach Resort (for only $1). I enjoyed strolling on the beach at Our Lucaya and roaming their beautiful grounds. I took the $1 city bus back to my resort and did lunch at the Oasis Cafe.
The Holiday Inn also provided a free shuttle van to the Freeport airport.
I had a wonderful time and the price was right. Had I taken a friend, the price for me would have been only $199 each and had I brought a third friend, the price would have been only $179 each.
I plan to visit the Bahamas again using this same resort/package.

All I can say is "wow"! After traveling over 4,000 miles from England to get to the complex, we were not disappointed.
The complex boasted an extensive choice of food, great service, good sized rooms which were clean and comfortable, and most importantly, great people and service.
We stayed for two weeks and did not have a single complaint to make. The beach pool was great and really must be seen to be comprehended.
Anyone who has a complaint to make against this resort is obviously rather pompous and I would suggest they get out a bit more. You must visit this resort... it was ace! |

We just got back from our visit to Freeport and we stayed at the Royal Oasis. The lagoon pool was simply awesome. The other pool was also great if you wanted some peace and quiet for a while. Also, the lobby was absolutely gorgeous.
However, the hotel was downtown and the employees at the hotel were not very helpful with information when we were trying to find our way around the island.
Also, make sure that you put the privacy sign on your door at all times when you are in your room. The employees feel free to come in your room as they please (without knocking) to drop off advertisements for pool parties, etc. if you do not have the sign up.
The hotel was located right next to the international bazaar, which was very convenient. We will definitely be going back to this hotel. |

We just returned from Freeport, Grand Bahama and we stayed at the Crowne Plaza at the Royal Oasis. This hotel was not on right the beach, but their new pool area was amazing and the rooms were very nice, as eveything was recently remodeled. It was located at the International Bazaar with lots of great local shops.
If you do wish to spend time near the ocean, you can take the 10-minute shuttle ride to Xanadu Beach provided by the free hotel shuttle bus which leaves every half hour from the hotel lobby. However, this beach was not best on the island in our opinion.
I would recommend taking the local bus. It was $1 per person, ran all day until 8:00 p.m., and you could catch it on the very front street of the Bazaar. Go to Port Lucaya! There was lots more to do and see there. Don't take a taxi...it was $17 - one way. We learned this the hard way on our first day!
I would also highly recommend going over to Taino Beach. We did the Bonfire Beach Party, which was a great way to spend our last night here. It was loads of fun and absolutely beautiful.
Also, beware when you eat out that most of the meal prices already include a 15% gratuity. Read the fine print on the menus, we learned this the hard way too! The service was not always as speedy and as efficient as we are used to here in the states. So, be ready to wait a little longer for meals to be served and for beverage refills, etc.
Overall, we had a wonderful time. The ocean was beautiful and warm, the beaches were white and clean, and you could find the best deals about what to do and see by simply asking the locals, who were always friendly and willing to guide a wayward tourist!
It was a fun family vacation, and a great value if you're willing to travel a little to get to the ocean!

A great hotel for a great price! Visited: June 2002 |

I went to this hotel with two of my girl friends, and it was awesome! There was a lot of night life out there at the hotel- espically appealing to teenagers like us.
As everyoen else had mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is not on the beach. We stayed at the country club, which had a nice pool, but we often walked just across the road to the towers where the bigger pools were with the slides.
We went to the Xanadu beach, which was definitly a waste of time- we probably stayed there all of 15 minutes. There was a lot of seaweed, and it wasn't very clean. But, we went to the National Park Beach and it was awesome! |

I just returned last night and I am ready to book my next trip.
The renovations were beautiful and the new lagoon was wonderful. This was my daughter's first visit and the arcade was definitely a welcomed addition.
Hats off Royal Oasis! |

We visit Freeport very frequently and always stay at the Princess (now the Holiday Inn Sunspree).
The renovations are wonderful, but we miss the Sunglows playing at the John B. It is very disappointing. Our main reason for returing so often is to see our friends on the island. Please bring back the Sunglows. |

We have visited many resorts around the world. My husband and I stayed at the country club portion of the resort. This resort ranks far below anywhere we have ever visited. The grounds of the country club were not clean. The staff we felt were extremely unprofessional, rude and unconcerned about the guests. We also visited the towers which in no way compare to the country club. The charter company that plans the trips was very unorganized. |

This was our first trip to the Bahamas and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Though there was a lot of construction going on, it in no way interfered with our trip. Most of our activities were outside of the resort anyways because we were trying to cram so much into a few days vacation.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the fact that both the casino and the International Bazaar were in walking distance. We slso liked the fact that you could book whatever you wanted to do right in the hotel lobby!
We hope to visit again soon! |

I think the resort will be nice when finished. We stayed in the country club, we only had one restaurant open, and alot of noise and confusion. The Towers weren't much better. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean.
It was my first trip to the Bahamas. I will back, I loved the island. |

Crowne Plaza Tower - the former Princess Visited: January 2002 |

Wow! Lots of work is being done at this property and with the "towers" section completed, things are looking good for this property.
We stayed a few nights and, over the years, have been to this property countless times. The rooms were nice, the lobby was rennovated and the casino was updated to the times! Really nice.
As always, the staff was nice and we did not have to wait long to get into our room. Things were neat and clean.
They did have construction going on out front, but this in no way affected our stay. With the completion of the fresh water pool, the beach out front to be finished soon and work on the old country club section underway, this property will be a hit once again with travelers from around the world! |
