This hotel and the neighboring hotels which comprise the Cable Beach resort will be torn down - because they have lost so much business to Atlantis. Is it any wonder? Even if they were to rebuild this resort to a luxurious palace, I don't think it would help since the staff were so rude and unhelpful.

(1) We were annoyed by the constant solicitations for time shares.

(2) We were annoyed by the fact that we reserved a non-smoking room, and the person at the front desk indeed confirmed that we were getting a non-smoking room. We found ash trays in our assigned room.

(3) We were annoyed by the hotel tour desk that took our deposits to book us on snorkeling trips and the like but, never actually confirmed our spots and gave us wrong times as well.

(4)The obscene daily "resort fee" of $15 per person to cover maid gratuities, towels, use of the safe, and coffee machine.

I am personally so turned off by Wyndham resorts and would be loathe to stay at any of their hotels. The problem here is more attitude of staff than furnishings (although tacky, you can live with).

The Wyndham Nassau Resort is not recommended! Visited: December 2006

This is not the right place to stay if you are looking for relaxation and peace!

I spent my five- day vocation in this hotel, and the service and staffs’ attitude drove me crazy.

It was okay during the first and second days of my stay. However, things happened on the third day, all clean towels were missing after housekeeping cleaned the room. In addition, the coffee machine wasn’t cleaned.

As soon as I was aware of the missing towels, I immediately notified the room service to replace my towels (at 2 p.m.). I also personally spoke with the reception staff for my request to replace towels in my room when I walked out to have my lunch. The staff did not send in the towels until 5:00 pm - after I returned from lunch.

Right at this time, I was about to make myself a cup of coffee, and I found out that the housekeeping did not clean the coffee machine! I was so upset with the situation because I still had few more days to stay in this hotel.

I contacted the front desk to tell them about my situation, and that I would like to change to a cleaner room. However, the reception refused me by saying that there wasn’t room available. She also promised that the hotel’s manager would call me back to give me a proper response.

However, until I went out for dinner and returned to the hotel and was getting ready for bed at 10 PM at night, my room wasn’t changed. Also, the manager didn’t attempt to approach me to resolve my problem.

The front desk reception threatened me not to work out the issue which made me more upset. I felt like my vacation was ruined.

Overall, the service was bad, the staff attitude was rude, and the cleanliness was worse.

I believe there is a work ethic issue here - from the staff up to the management.

My experience with this "resort" was horrible from the get go.

First off, the staff was rude to me, and seemed very put off by having to do something for a customer.

Our bathroom flooded from the floor above us, and the front desk attendant initally said there were no other rooms to put us in. Did she think we were going to just stay in that room?!

When we finally got a new room, it was dirty, and not somewhere I would want my family to have to sleep in.

There was little selection in restaurants, and I cannot stress enough how un-helpful the staff was.

We finally, we had enough after about eight hours, and booked over to the Atlantis. It was more expensive, but we were treated like royalty, and my family had the time of their lives.

We found broken tiles, dirty carpet, water spots on wall, ceiling water damage, and torn sheets.

In addition, the mini bar was not stocked, and the furniture was sticky. Overall, it was just horrible.

We found this resort to be overrated. Visited: November 2005

We thought "resort" was a misnomer. Here, we found a tired looking hotel with indifferent staffing.

I had to prove to the front desk that I had booked an oceanview room (good thing I had my printout), as I was assigned room after room before I received a room with the oceanfront view.

The front desk staff seemed passive aggressive by refusing to show me a resort map, but instead sent me running around from assigned room to room to get the oceanfront room. The fourth room was acceptable.

The maintenance was poor resulting in a room where the shower diverter was inoperable, the lanai door required super human strength to open, paint spatters (from previous painting) were everywhere, and furnishings were badly beatup. Our requests to fix/repair the shower and lanai door problems were ignored.

We found room service to be horribly slow, and the quality was awful. The resort itself was also lacking in activities. After dark, the only entertainment was the casino which had limited table games except on the weekends. Scheduled shows were intermittent and not available during my seven-night stay.

The pool and beach area were nice (with limited beverage service), but not utilized after dark for resort activities forcing guests to go elsewhere.

As I dislike buffets, the only times I ate in the hotel were morning room service and the Black Angus Grill. The first visit to the Black Angus was superb, the second (and last) was horrific.

The overall staff indifference became obvious anytime I had a problem. I believe that the automatically included 15% service gratuity fostered this attitude. The couple of exceptions to this were the bellhop who assisted us the first night of check-in and the daily maid service in our final room for which we tipped well.

All in all, the property would rate a one-and-a-half to two-star rating at best. I would not recommend this hotel as a resort, but only as a place to sleep. It was a long, disappointing, seven-night stay for us.

If you do go anyway, my tip would be to insist on a room in the "F" tower, from the fourth floor up, sequence would be F*08-11 (we stayed on the fourth floor in F411) for the view.

This hotel was run down, the bathroom did not work in our room. Visited: July 2005

I have been coming to Crystal Palace since the 1980s. During my most recent stay the floor staff seem to be very unhappy.

The hotel rooms were also in badly need of maintenance. The bathroom in our room didn not flush. We called maintenance three times, and they still did not fix it properly.

I tried to speak (in person) to the vice president, Don Grissom, and was given a phone to speak with him. I guess he didn't want to face one of his best customers.

We felt we should have been treated better. Please check your records again, Don. And I hope Room 711 Casino Wing is now fixed!

My husband and I went to the Bahamas from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, which was only about a 50-minute flight. Of course we are scuba divers, and decided to dive with Stuart Cove's Dive Resort. We had the best dive trip ever and would highly recommend this facility.

As for the Wyndham, we stayed in a corner suite overlooking the beautiful blue water. The food at the Seaside Buffet was very good, and there was a lot to choose from. Also, there were fun drinks if you decided to "party" around the pool.

I would recommend staying at the Wyndham, and personally, we enjoyed our stay.

At least we were in the Bahamas! Visited: January 2005

We read the negative reviews, but went to the Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace anyway, expecting a "no frills" establishment. It was quite worse than no frills.

First, don't believe any official description you read on the Internet. There were no meal plans available, and there were no shared facilities with the neighboring hotels (except that their guests could use the casino at the hotel!). Also, we were charged for anything we wanted to do at this hotel -- nothing was included.

On top of the room rate, the hotel imposed an additional $15 per person, per day "resort fee" to use the amenities: the pool, the beach, the Kids Klub (a cheap piece of plastic you'd expect to find at a low-budget daycare center), the fitness center (only open during daylight hours, you know, when you're at the pool or the beach), and undefined gratuities.

To add insult, we arrived at the hotel after midnight due to our flight being rerouted - we were still charged the $30 resort fee for that day nonetheless. I questioned the charge at checkout and was told that the resort fee for the day will be charged unless you arrive after 2 a.m. the next day!

As others have no doubt mentioned, the hotel was not exceptionally well-maintained. The bathroom light flickered and sputtered to life. Also, we went one day without ready access to hot water (about 20 minutes to warm), and the showerhead only worked on "pulse" (no spray or anything in between).

In addition, many of the mouldings in our hallway had been replaced with unpainted plywood, perhaps as a result of hurricane damage 3-4 months ago.

To their credit, "guest services" called midway through the weekend to ask if everything was alright. The rep seemed shocked that anyone would have a complaint about the hotel. I mentioned the showerhead problem, and a repairman came up that evening to replace it.

Overall, the staff was polite, but never enthusiastic. If they were, they'd probably do something about the odd odor (like you find at Subway) that permeated the place.

Finally, due to how the hotel was situated on the beach, the hotel blocked out the sun. Even though sunset was officially at 5:45, the pool area was entirely in shadow by 2:30. And half the hotel's beach was dark by 3:30, and the entire beach was dark by 4:00.

The Cable Beach area was nice. The Radisson next door seemed a bit nicer, though. The big attraction for most Wyndham Nassau guests would apparently just be the casino. The hotel may seem like a bargain at first, but your money could be better spent.

The service is horrible, the rooms are dirty. The property is very nice, but that's all! Spend a little more and stay at the Radisson Hotel! The service is better, property is much more beautiful, and the BEACH IS WAY BETTER!!! Oh and the one time I stayed there.. They rented out a room to some LOUD, Noisy, local teenagers!! Now if that doesn't say something. then I dont know what else to tell you to stay away from there!!! It's just a horrible place.. OH! and the light in the bathroom wasn't working... we called and they never came to fix it!

Granted, my boyfriend and I were only going to the Bahamas for a quick weekend getaway, but I never realized what a dump we would be staying in. The Wyndham was dreary (exterior, interior and room) and the only saving grace was the pool (which was also in need of a little repair).

All in all, we had a good weekend (after realizing that all our problems with the room, food and service were laughable). However, if we were to ever go to the Bahamas again, we would spend the few extra bucks and stay on Paradise Island (the Holiday Inn Express looked better and more fun than our mega-hotel with casino).

Wyndham was a good place with just a tiny bit to improve. Visited: April 2004
Posted by dfullerton93
Don't let my three stars throw you, this is a good place to stay for a lot of reasons.

The Good things:
The staff - all were very friendly and helpful.
The looks - no more colored lights, the exterior is now nicely painted in coral to purple shades.
The pool - large, a nice bar and grill next to it. Its own water slide and a separate hot tub.
The beach - smaller size than expected, but still lots of beach area available. There are also no vendors on the beach! Just one permanent vendor under some palms.
The restaurants - The casino buffet is best, and do not miss the Friday night seafood feast. You will never get seafood this good again! Black Angus grill is good, but very expensive.
The Shops - lots on sight, several duty-free liquor shops, some clothing and jewelery shops as well. Some are off the far side of the casino, so don't miss them.
The Casino - large, well lit, relatively friendly dealer staff, very friendly wait staff. 2/3rds slots and 1/3 tables, plus a tv room with game and race feeds. Baccarat room is separate. All blackjack tables are $10 minimum bet. Free drinks and cocktails in the casino.
The rooms - well lit, comfortable, each with double sinks and seprarate tub shower. Hot water always available even up high, tubs very deep for soaks. Small patio for each room. The J, H and Casino towers have best ocean views.

The Bad Things:
Food and booze here are very spendy!
Some parts of rooms look like they were missed in remodeling (new counter but old cupboards below it).
Bathroom shower light is fluro and takes a while to light up and is not bright.
The beds are large, but a bit firm for my tastes.
There is some sort of time share/VIP buy in kiosk right between the lobby and all the shops, food and casino and they harp on everyone to come see them.
The pool is freezing cold and the hot tub could be hotter.
To swim on the beach, you need to go next door to the sister hotel.

Conclusion - This is a good hotel. If the room renovations were complete and the light was a little better in the shower it would have gotten four stars from me. It is reasonable, the food is good, if expensive. Having the casino right there is nice if you like to gamble, even a bit. The staff is very helpful (use the concierge, it saves a lot of time).

It is not five-star with all the hand holding and amenities, and it is not low grade Bahamas Motel 6, either. You pay reasonably for a good room and the things there.

If I go back to the Bahamas I would either stay here again or try Atlantis.

PS - Do not let anyone tell you that you only need an hour or so to get through the airport security. You need two to three hours at least!

Wyndham Nassau Resort is in my top two places to stay. Visited: June 2003

The one thing everyone must understand when visiting Nassau/Cable Beach, don't eat too much restaurant food. It's entirely too expensive. Find out where the natives eat and that's your best bet for taste and price. I always go to the place where the sell the conch (in any way you want it, i.e., salad (the best), fried (crack), fritters, grilled, steamed, etc.). I go to the local grocery store and buy water by the gallon and all my snacks . . . that's much cheaper. The #10 bus will take you and return you.

Also, always pick out one person (usually a specific bellman) to go to for all your needs. Don't select one this time and the next time someone else. Find out their name and always call for that particular one . . . and leave him a nice tip at the end of your stay. He'll remember you the next time you come.

If you use Royal Holiday Club, then always use the same rep in the same way I advised you to use the bellman . . . and make your request known at the desk and tell them you want your request fulfilled asap and stay on them.

I've been here between 20 and 25 times and I enjoy it each time. However, I had to learn the hard way. Hopefully, with the advice I have given you, you'll learn the easy way.

By the way, no matter how the facilities or the preparers look, the native food is good and clean. You have to have the conch salad at the "horseshoe."

Each time I have either stayed at the Crystal Palace or the Radisson and each time I have chosen to go back for my vacation.

Everything was great, except for two complaints. Visited: June 2003
Posted by moonflower0703
This was my second time at the hotel. I thought it was beautiful and I enjoyed staying there.

This year, I took my boyfriend to show him just how amazing Nassau was. We had a room in the J tower, which suited our needs perfectly.

The only problem was that our maid failied to come two times, which we had to request for her to come up. Then, two other times we had no clean washclothes, towels or soaps (we also has to ask for those).

After requesting, it did not take long for mistakes to be corrected. Even the hotel manager called the room to verify that we were satisfied.

My second complaint was that durring the time I was here this year and last, there were tons of teenagers on a senior trip or something. They were loud, rude, drunk, and obnoxious and totally unsupervised. They even puked in the pool...gross!

Other than that, I enjoyed my visit, and I loved Nassau. The food and music were great, and I loved the duty free shopping! I would stay at Wyndham again. It was definitely one of the nicer places on the island, and the beaches surrounding it were gorgeous.

Everything was average, but be careful! Visited: April 2003
Posted by vernh5
My father and I went to the Bahamas to golf and celebrate his 65th birthday. The hotel “is” what you pay for. We arrived on a Sunday and our room was average. Before dinner, we went to the sportsbook, inside casino, to look around. A well dressed Bahamian man asked my father to place a bet for him because his wife was in the casino and would get mad if he continued to gamble. If this ever happens to you, please say no! My dad placed the bet. A security guard approached my father and told him that he broke the law and asked him if he wanted to spend the night in jail.

We later learned, the Bahamian people are not allowed to gamble in the casinos. My issue with the hotel is that man should not have been allowed in the hotel to scam us in the first place. We went to another hotel and had no more issues the entire trip. Moral: If locals in the Bahamas need you to help them, Be Alert! Be diligent! Be careful!

We stayed at this hotel for four night and never again. The lamps were broken and the sliding glass doors would not lock. The beds were thin and probaly had not been replaced since the hotel opened. The restaurants were outrageously expensive and the food was mediocre. The drinks were overpticed and they made you buy a cheap plastic souvineer glass with the first drink and would charge you again if you did not bring it with you after that. Stay away.
