5.0 stars We had a fabulous wedding weekend! Visited: June 2004

I don't even know where to start! My family and I discovered Romora Bay almost a year ago, and from day one, they have been nothing but helpful!

We were planning a wedding and weren't sure exactly what hotel to have it at. We took a few trips during the year to Harbour Island and the service and hospitality we received at Romora Bay surpassed all of our other options! We knew immediately, this was the place!

Christine, the manager at Romora Bay, was such a delight to work with! She always kept in touch with us and updated us frequently on the wedding plans. She helped us and our guests with organizing events, dinners, and golf cart rentals. We never had a single worry with her running everything. She was excellent at her job and seemed to expect the same from her staff.

My dad just couldn't believe how amazing the staff was throughout the weekend-long event. He was so pleased by their efforts, that he gave every single staff member a bonus the day we left. We truly felt that every single staff member at Romora Bay bent over backwards to make that entire weekend such a special event. I could go on and on about the staff, but I must move on to the cuisine.

Fabrice Gomet is the most amazing chef! Every meal we had at Romora Bay was out of this world. Our wedding was two months ago and our guests still talk about the dinner! You must try his chocolate mousse! Every trip we've taken to Romora Bay, we've begged Fabrice to make the chocolate mousse. He laughs, but of course, whips up a batch that is even more fabulous than the time before!

When you leave Romora Bay, you feel like you are leaving family. We still keep in touch with Christine, Fabrice, their adorable little girl, and the wonderful staff at Romora Bay and we will continue to visit year after year. We cannot thank them enough for everything they have done! We will always have the fondest memories of Romora Bay!

We had a great time at the Romara Bay Club. We loved the atmosphere of the bar and lobby. The room was very nice with stereo and a good bed. The food and wine were always top quality. Also, the manager added Parisian charm.

For 20 years we have been returning to Harbour Island and the Romora Bay Club.

Lionel Rotcage and his staff offer delicious food, a casual and relaxing atmosphere and courteous service

One of our party of 8-10 people (who have been returning with us for over 20 years) fell and had to be taken to Nassau and back to North Carolina The efficient help and supervision of the Romora Bay staff enabled our friend to feel cared for and safe. We are all eternally grateful for their help

This is a treasured secret in the Bahamas. It has a personality all its own!

I don't understand how someone can dislike this resort. The friendly staff; the surprisingly excellent food and service; the beauty of the the property, grounds and rooms; and the attention provided to guests by wonderful hostess Christine are unique in the Bahamas! And the prices are more than fair. It is truly the best hotel on Harbour Island!

1.0 stars Not worth the money. Visited: June 2003

Friendly staff and nicely decorated rooms. However, for the price, you can do much better on the island. Also, the owner of this hotel is rude and many times condescending toward his guests and his employees. It wasn’t worth the frustration. There are other places to stay on this beautiful island that would welcome your business. Have fun!

1.0 stars Horrible rude owner, many much better options on H.I. Visited: June 2003

We reciently had a large party at Romora Bay Club. All guest where treated rudely by the owner, resevation where not honored, additional charges where on the bills and attempts to deal with the owner were impossible. There are many much better options on Harbour Island, for considerably less money! Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

1.0 stars Romora Bay - Beware! Visited: June 2003

This was our first trip to Harbour Island and we stayed at the Romora Bay for a wedding. The rooms are pretty cozy. Each is uniquely decorated. The sunset views are great from the pool or the outside bar. Even though all this was great, we will not go back again.

The French owner is rude and inconsiderate. We will never return to this hotel while it is owned by this man.

The rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful people that are just happy to have jobs. Enjoy Harbour Island! By the way, make sure you go to Gusty’s to have a beer! It’s a great place and the floor of the bar is sand!

How can I describe in words how wonderful The Romora Bay Club made my daughter Caroline's wedding weekend? I will try, because I have never in my whole life ever seen such a wonderful staff at a hotel. They did so much for the guests.

Everyone bent over backwards to help with everything - it was amazing! They were friendly and smiling no matter what was asked of them. I give a special award to the chef and his lovely wife who manage the place for a job well done.

I never heard one complaint about the accommodations or the staff from 60 guests of the wedding party. Only good things were said.

I did not know what to expect as I booked online. But it has been one of the finest holidays of my life. The Romora Bay was just an exceptional resort - decor, food, staff everything and everybody were perfect.

I highly recommend it!

2.0 stars Romora Bay should be a discount resort. Visited: February 2003

I?m not sure how to describe the Romora Bay, other than to say it sure doesn?t look like a $300/night resort! The lobby and common areas are small and somewhat dingy. Additionally, the landscaping around the campus is far from manicured, for example, the steps leading around the resort are cracked, broken, and dangerous. There is no fencing around the resort, which means the island?s "colorful" roosters are a constant in the courtyard.

We were given a room overlooking the harbor, which, by the way, is quite nice. Certainly, it?s not as nice as overlooking the beach, but you are mere steps away from the ocean and it?s not like looking at a crummy marina, as there?s a large gap between you and Eleuthera. Our room, about 20 feet from the small pool and deck, seemed nice as we entered. We had air conditioning and a small TV (with a broken remote) and a phone and simple bathroom. I can?t say that the room was clean, up to US standards, as the floor seemed dirty, as were the bathroom walls and sink, which my wife really disliked. Overall, I?d give our room a B-.

Romora Bay did have a restaurant, but we counted only 1 couple who actually ate there. I?m not sure, but I think it only had one set menu for each night, usually a seafood item, which was why we chose to explore the island?s other restaurants.

The Romora Bay had some entertainment amenities, like a broken old pool table (balls kept dropping out of the pockets, etc.) some checkers and chess boards, along with some board games. My wife retrieved their copy of Trivial Pursuit one night, only to find out it was in French, as were many of the books in the ?library?. They had several dozen relatively decent movies one could watch on the TV/VCR in each room.

All in all, I?d have to give Romora Bay Beach Club a thumbs-down. If it was marketed as a discount resort, I could understand, but the $300 per night (plus $60 in tax and tip!) gives an uninformed visitor the idea that this place should be a 3-4 star hotel, when in reality, it?s more like a 2-star club.

4.0 stars Romora Bay is the most romantic place in the world! Visited: December 1969
Posted by laurahale
They have such beautiful tropical sunsets and sunrises.

I came here in 1982 with the most romantic man ever. We walked on the beach - which was really our own, as hardly anyone was on the beach.

We ate when the conch horn sounded. They had great food and drinks!
