I thought that this was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It is marketed as a 4+ star hotel and I would give it no more then a 2 Star rating. There are so many complaints that it is not worth setting them out - we moved to the Atlantis resort after 48 hours of it. Main points of note will be the serious humidity/damp problem which the hotel has. They only part of the hotel which does not smell damp and musty is the beach. We moved rooms twice and the smell was constantly present. If you're fat and want to get fatter regardless of the quality of the food and service then this is the place for you. Surrounded by big americans eating. Plates, dirty glasses and empty beer cans are strewn all around the pool and beach area. I think they only clean up once and at the end of the day. Any suggestion that this is a quality hotel is fanciful.
Stay away unless you want cheap, and actually their prices are not cheap. All in all a very bad experience.

5.0 stars It is a great vacation spot! Visited: August 2002

My husband and I just returned from a five-night, six-day vacation at the Radisson at Cable Beach. We chose the all-inclusive way. That was the best way to go.

Once you get to the resort and get your room number, I would suggest you go and make all your dinner reservations first, since they fill up fast. If you have kids, you would like to eat early. Dinner times are 6:00-9:30. Breakfast and lunch were great at the Bimini, with no wait.

We never had a problem with slow service, at the bar or at meals. And the rooms were very nice and clean, with no smells as someone had written.

This year we chose a standard room for the two of us, and it had a different view (other side of the resort; we could still could see the beach). Last year when we took our children, ages 10 and 12 years, we had a nice view (overlooking the pools and ocean) with the same type room. By the way, it is a great great place for children.

There were three pools, and the ocean was beautiful. There were live rocks where you could snorkle (bring your own gear). There is no need to pay to go anywhere else.

When you go to town, it is best to ride the bus. It was only one dollar, and everyone was so friendly, so you don't have to worry about the people.

The night life was nice. It didn't really start until 10:00 pm. So, if you have children you probably won't stay up that late. The casino, which was next door, was open 24 hours.

We really enjoyed this vacation. It was our second time, and we hope to return again.

We just returned from a six day, five night stay at the Radisson Cable Beach Resort.

Our parents had their 50th wedding anniversary at the Radisson. They brought the entire family - seven kids, with spouses and 15 grandkids - 31 total.

After the day one "rearranging of rooms" by the girls, and the guys taste testing the rum drink selection - we didn't miss a beat. We dined at every restaurant, and the hands down winner was all of them. The service was great.

Tuesday, Dad and the boys hit the links. Half the course was closed, but we didn't mind. We just played the open nine twice.

Wednesday and Thursday was snorkeling day - three hours a day, right in front of the hotel - then the jet skis were descended upon. With 16 of us wanting to ride - we made the jet ski man, a deal he couldn't refuse.

A private room party was the highlight of the week - it brought family stories, tears, and laughs.

The pool bar was the daily meeting place. The service was not as slow as other reviews claimed, but we are Jersey Shores Veterans, so getting drinks quickly, is our strong suit.

We did have a couple of "slight" problems with a water leak. But the hotel moved two families, quick and easy. In fact, one family was upgraded to a suite.

In short - the Radisson is a "must-return".

We had a great time. We had a lovely room on the fifth floor, facing the ocean. There was plenty space for a adults and two 11- year-old girls!

The food was lovely, although the Avocados restaurant was closed for a re-furbishing. They served the menu in Amicis' if required. We all loved cooking our steaks in The Forge, and would have loved to have stayed longer than 10 nights even though our tums were swelling with all the good food!

I would give the Dolphin poolside restaurant a miss for lunch, Bimini served a much better selection and was air conditioned. I agree that it was unusual to have to sign for everything, even though we were all-inclusive. But we thought it was much better than having to wear a bracelet.

I could not understand the moans about the health club being over the road, it was just across the street, and walking over was exercise, too! I had no trouble with the treadmills, and the squash courts were fine. We played most days.

We received great service, and we hope it's the same this year!
We can't wait!

5.0 stars An excellent all-inclusive package for whole family. Visited: July 2002

We had some apprehension having read some of the less praise-worthy reviews on this web site. But we were really impressed.

Yes, there was the occasional wait at reception - but only rarely. Yes, you had to make meal reservations - but that only took 10 minutes to book five days' meals in advance. The food was all good - not absolutely stunning - but certainly of four-star standard.

The interior of our bedroom had a slightly tatty look in places - but then you only spend a very little time in the room anyway. The pools, the beach and the sea were all fantastic. The gym/squash facilities were excellent, too. The lounge bar service was excellent, and the waitresses were very happy to indulge my requests for cocktails.

Some British visitors may find the cultural differences take a little adjusting to - but just sit back, relax on the beach, sip your drinks, and listen to the music of Bob Marley playing in the bar. It was bliss.

And the kids (ours were 11 and 9) looked after themselves, got their own drinks and snacks, etc. Ours enjoyed a couple of sessions at the Camp Junkanoo. If I could afford it, I'd go again.

My family of four just returned from a 7-day, 6-night stay at the Radisson at Cable Beach. We chose the all-inclusive so we wouldn't be worried with having to carry money all the time. This to me was the only way to go!

First and foremost, the people working here were the friendliest I've ever met. A lady at customer service named Naomi Bastian was the most helpful. You should see her for any information you might want or need during your stay.

The facility was huge. The rooms were very clean. The place was brimming with excitement, to say the least, with plenty to occupy your time, as there was something going on all day. And if just relaxing was your forte, I strongly suggest one of the hammocks hanging between two palm trees, beside a pool with a wonderful breeze to keep you cool!

The pools were also wonderful and never crowded. The waterfall in one pool made for a great massage on your neck and back.

The restaurants served wonderful food with the exception of Amici's. Both the food and service there were terrible. Breakfast at Bimini's is a must. They had anything and everything you could want for breakfast. On one particular night, we ate outside.

Avocados was undergoing some type of renovation, so they served their meals at the Dolphin Grill location outside. This was one of the best meals we had while we were here. The meal was superb, as was the service. The waiters were always eager to serve you and were also a pleasure to talk to. They all seemed to enjoy their job.

Like I noted earlier, there was something occuring on a regular basis, and nighttime was no different. Entertainment ranged from different games (Newlywed Game, Name That Tune, etc.) to DJs and piano players. Even outside by the Edgewater Bar, they had karaoke at night. Some of the guests could really sing well.

We did take off on one of the excursions at an extra charge away from the hotel (The Robinson Crusoe Tour). This was the biggest disappointment of the whole trip. The snorkeling at the hotel was better as far as seeing fish, plus the boat ride to Rose Island was boring (1 hour). Everything the tour offered, we could have enjoyed at the hotel for free!

Again, all-inclusive is the only way to go here and upon returning to Nassau, I will definitely stay at the Radisson.

It was a great place to stay. We stayed for four days and had a great time (four days is the absolute minimum to stay).

If you are going to Nassau, you should go all-inclusive, make dinner reservations before you leave for your destination, try the conch, and bring a snorkel with goggles. If you wait too long to make dinner reservations, you may not get to eat until 9:30 p.m. If you choose the all-inclusive, once you arrive on the property you won’t have to carry any money and it can get expensive.

There was a casino in the next hotel with a walkway and stores in-between, you will find everything you need there. If you want to see what the straw market is like, you can go across the street, but if you have to go to the “Straw Market” or anywhere on the island, take the bus, it is only one dollar.

The bar outside service can be slow, but remember you are on vacation, relax. The room was great! Most of the staff was very nice. Some guests acted rudely and got treated the same way.

We went into Nassau one day. It was a tourist trap. Restaurants could go from excellent to bad - depending on what you ordered. The hotel had everything we needed there or next door, so we didn’t see the need to take a boat trip anywhere.

5.0 stars It was perfect - the best vacation and anniversary trip! Visited: July 2002

Everything was fabulous!

I first went online and heard the great, okay and a few not-so-great comments and contacted the General Manager about the concerns with the drinks taking too long, the attitude of staff and not enough entertainment (those were the main concerns I saw).

He was very friendly and informed to me that there were changes and they took the comments very seriously. They must have, because from the first until the last day, the staff was excellent, the food was great, and the drinks.....whew! All-inclusive was the only way to go.

The Forge was my favorite restaurant, so make those reservations first when you go. Amici's was okay (I would personally like to have made reservations for Forge at least twice!).

Everyone was friendly and I only had one not-so-great experience from the bell boy who took our luggage downstairs. After we gave a big tip at first, we later remembered that tips were included also. But they seem to had forgotten that, so when he noticed my husband wasn't tipping him, he left our luggage right there for us to put on the bus!

But that won't change our view on the hotel, I would definitely be a repeat customer!

After staying at numerous four and five star hotels in the Caribbean, we were expecting the Radisson to be exceptional. The holiday was great, but the hotel could do with updating.

The rooms were of good size. However, the bathrooms could do with an upgrade and could be bigger. Facilities for eating were good. However, it was difficult to decide what you wanted to eat for the next few days in order to book your table. Despite being told by the travel agent there was a dress requirement, the hotel informed us there was no dress requirement, and people turned up to dinner in shorts and t shirts.

Also, you had to sign for everything you had, even though we were all-inclusive. This became tiring, as you had to carry a piece of card with you at all times. So, if you fancied a drink whilst in the pool, you had to go back to your bed first. When I have stayed at other all-inclusive resorts, a band was worn which gave guests more flexiblity.

Overall, the holiday was great and I would recommend it. However, be aware that the staff was very laid back. But, you are on holiday - so chill and enjoy. A good time was had by all.

4.0 stars We enjoyed our honeymoon at the Radisson. Visited: June 2002
Posted by jany1025
We went to the Radisson for our honeymoon from 6/2-6/9.

The first and basically only major problem we had, occured when we first arrived. We had an early flight and arrived at the hotel at 11:30 a.m., so our room was not ready. The rooms weren't ready until 3:00 p.m., and our agent never asked (nor did we) for an early check in. So, we did not get into our room until about 3:30 p.m. They were really slow about that. So please keep this in mind.

After that, it was it close to perfect for us. The overall condition of the hotel was okay. It was not superb - but suitable. The room was nice, but the bathroom was tiny.

We spent our whole vacation basically at the main pool with the swim-up bar. My husband took advantage of the open bar, and they were very generous with their alcohol.

Breakfast at Bimini was awesome. My husband is not a great fan of buffet,
but their selection was great. For lunch, Dolphin is a no - go to Bimini , they had a much bigger selection.

For dinner at the Forge, you have to sit with other people at a very close range. This a big no-no in our book. We sat down, and were seated with three ladies who were having their own private conversation. So, once we sat down, ten seconds later, we got right up.

One thing we did like, was that the hotel was not crowded whatsoever. I dont know if it was because it was the week after Memorial Day weekend, but we felt like we had the resort to ourselves.

The daily entertainment by the bar was amusing and we won beach bingo three different times. I am looking at our Radisson cup prize right now on my desk. In any case, we did have a great time and we would go back.

I paid for an all-inclusive vacation and that is not what I got. What I got was a big headache instead. The room was okay, the air was okay as well but not great. The food was average and Avacodos, one of the great restaurants, was closed the whole time. The gym that they spoke about is across the street - you can catch a shuttle!

They had a DJ for entertainment most nights and a band on Friday but only for an hour and a half on Saturday. It sounded better in the brochure and web site. Also be prepared to write you are given an id card that you are to carry everywhere because you can not get anything without it. Also you have to sign a receipt for everything and I mean everything - it got to be very annoying. I am unclear why it can not just be swiped to prove I was all inclusive.

There was nothing to do on Sunday. I am glad I did not go down for the weekend because it would have been upsetting to have nothing to do on Sunday.

The buffet was okay but do not leave the table or doves or flies will eat your food. The lounge bar is very small so get there early or you will not get a seat! Also do not expect to get a drink or food fast; I always waited and waited and waited. They did have good points though, the beach, pools, and view and the fun squad who I missed on Sunday. To be completely honest I would not stay here again!

2.0 stars Property is deteriorating - needs repair and maintenance Visited: June 2002

The toilet in our room had disgusting stains at the base and the shower had mildew stains and broken ceiling tiles. The hallways and public areas had walls with chipped paint and surfaces with different paint colors. My daughter touched a tile beside the pool and it fell off! Door leading to pool missing handle. Escalator to casino broke, shower by beach broke.

The “fully equipped fitness center” was just as neglected. Treadmills did not work. The walls and ceilings bore huge water stains. Water actually poured in on the bench press while my husband was working out. The fences to the tennis courts were leaning down and in some areas practically lying on the ground. The fencing alone created a lovely scene that made me feel the center could have easily been located in a depressed inner-city.

During the evenings, trashcans on the beach and pool area were overflowing, consequently trash was left all over. Very disappointed with what I got for what I spent.

My family just returned from the Radisson Cable Beach. My girls are 12, 22, and 24. Their room was across from us.

The rooms were very clean with no bad smells (as some reviews mentioned). We loved the pools and beach. The food was not gourmet, but it was good and we had great service. We also had good bar service both at the swim-up bar and the others.

We did all-inclusive and that was the way to go. The staff was very nice, although some knew very little English. We had a great time and we would go back.

5.0 stars My wedding was in paradise! Visited: May 2002
Posted by Coatesangel
My new husband, me, and our 13-year-old son stayed here for 14 nights. The staff was very friendly, and the pools, the beach, and the sea were all fabulous!

Our wedding was absolutely fabulous. The hotel's wedding departmet sorted everything out for us. All we had to do was go and get our wedding license. The hotel beauty salon did my hair, and it was beautiful.

We were married in the West gazebo. The gazebo was beautifully decorated with flowers and ribbons, and my bridal bouquet was beautiful. The service was very romantic, and afterwards, we had champagne and our wedding cake (which was gorgeous). We had our wedding video taped, and a photographer attended. It was all arranged by the hotel.

We coudn't have found a more beautiful place to marry! We all had a fantastic time and can't wait to return!

5.0 stars We enjoyed a heavenly honeymoon at the Radisson. Visited: May 2002

My husband and I cannot say enough about this resort! It was absolutely gorgeous! Everything from the staff to the food was wonderful.

Making reservations for dinner was not difficult in the least, as some other reviews have stated. Our favorite restaurant was Amici's......the food was unbelievable and the service was a little slow, but we go on vacation to relax...not rush through our dinner. It was by no means poor service, though.

The beach and pools were amazing! They had a gorgeous sandy beach and beautiful pools. There were plenty of beach chairs for all.

Our room was perfect! We were first placed in a ground level room that did not appeal to my husband and I, as we wanted a private balcony with a better view of the ocean. We inquired about having our room changed, and it was switched immediately.

The staff was super friendly and always willing to please the guests. We were witnesses to many guests mistreating the staff. This was where many of the negative reviews came from I am sure. It is quite simple...treat people as you want to be treated!

This was a honeymoon from heaven for sure! We hope to go back soon!

5.0 stars I walked out from my balcony and began to cry! Visited: April 2002
Posted by bceagles499
My husband, my four boys and our babysitter just returned from the Radisson Cable Beach Resort. As soon as I walked off my balcony, I began to cry. I couldn't believe how beautiful the view was. The water was so torquoise blue and the beautiful grounds of this facility were just breathtaking.

We had gone to stay over at the Atlantis for two nights and stayed at the Radisson for four nights. We enjoyed this hotel much more. The all -nclusive plan was the only way to go with the children. They never asked for money the whole trip.

This hotel was more relaxing than The Atlantis. The beach was simplly beautiful and there were no waves, so you could hop on a floaty and relax with a pina colada. There were also five or six pools which were not that crowded, so they were very relaxing.

The best restaurant we all enjoyed was The Forge. You could cook your own steaks (they were so delicious and juicy). The only thing was, as soon as you arrive, you must make reservations for every night for dinner in advance. Plan for the whole time you are there, so you don't miss a restaurant one night.

We all decided to come back again next year, only this time we will bring lots of friends with us!

5.0 stars We had an amazing time at the Radisson Cable Beach. Visited: April 2002

We just came back from our honeymoon at the Radisson. We had a great - no excellent - time.

The beach was lovely, snorkeling was a must. We saw more in the waters at the hotel than anywhere else. Bring your own gear - its easier.

The food was great, but Amici's was overrated in our opinion. Service was slower there than anywhere else. Also, a tip - eat a 6:00 p.m. The staff had a meeting every night before they opened at 6:00 p.m. By 9:00 p.m., the staff was to tired, the service was slower. All inclusive was the only way to go.

The rooms were clean. My husband thought the housekeeping staff was wonderful because they would line up his shoes for him every day.

The staff was very friendly and polite. Very rarely was the service slow. But, we were very disgusted by the way the guests treated the staff. We actually got pushed out of the way by other guests when going into restaurants and the bars at the Radisson.

The casino was close and the bus service is amazing - just right out the hotel for $1. They came every 15 minutes. I wish our bus system was as good here!

The only negative thing was that we did not receive our complimentary bottle of champagne for being on our honeymoon. And my husband lost his wedding ring in the ocean at the hotel which we can't blame on the hotel. Their security staff did try to help us find it.

We can't wait to go back.

4.0 stars We had a very enjoyable time at the Radisson Cable Beach. Visited: March 2002

We just returned from a four-night stay at the Radisson. The hotel was very good and we were impressed by the layout, number of pools and the beach.

We walked to a couple of the other hotels, and the Radisson's beach was among the better ones.

Also, the food was absolutely great. Breakfast and lunch were at the buffet. It was a bit repetitious, but good tasting. Our dinners and the service at the Forge and Avocados were excellent. The Islands restaurant was okay. We had reservations at Amici's, but were told by fellow guests that they'd tried it and the food and service were bad, so we cancelled our reservation.

We had requested a room with two double beds and ended up with a king-sized bed the first night. It took until 3:00 p.m. the following day for another room to be readied for us. Considering the hotel was not full, the staff could have hurried things up a bit. Our new room was a standard room, which was in very good condition. It was on the fourth floor with a wonderful view of the ocean.

Two areas where the hotel could improve would be entertainment and the staff. There were no shows at the Radisson and entertainment consisted of a piano player/singer and a disco at 10:00 p.m.

The staff basically just did their job. With the exception of a handful of employees, no one was too friendly and some wouldn't even make eye contact when you asked something or placed an order.

However, all in all, it was a very good hotel with a great beach and great food.

4.0 stars We have found paradise at the Radisson Cable Beach Resort. Visited: March 2002
Posted by lmrosenk
My stay at the Radisson was one of the best vacations I've ever had. The hotel was beautiful and the grounds and pool area were stunning.

The beach was one of the prettiest I've seen in the Caribbean, and the number of people selling trinkets was kept to a minimum.

The restaurants were about what I would expect from a resort. Our stay was fairly brief, so having four to choose from was sufficient. There was a bit of overlap in the menu selections, but we could always find something to peak our curiousity.

The only complaint we and our fellow travelers had was the sluggishness of the bar staff. Why offer the convenience of a swim up bar if you're going to take 20 minutes to fill a drink order? Aside from our frustration with the bartenders, the staff was most always friendly and accommodating.

I would definitely recommend this resort.
