The good news is, yes, I survived the trip. The bad news is, besides the weather, nothing else was really good about the trip.

My mom, my friend, and I were all surprised that Apple Vacations would represent this hotel. From what I heard about resorts, this was nothing like it. As far as our room went - the bathroom fan didn't work; our view was of some sort of giant dump next door; the room and hotel smelled of mildew; and the ceiling was black from filth.

In addition, the shower had mildew; the sheets were stained; the refrigerator didn't work; and there were cracks in the window.

When we asked for a room change, initially we were told we were already upgraded and had to speak with an Apple representative. We called home immediately and told my dad about this. He said that he would call the travel agent first thing in the morning.

At 9:00 a.m. the following morning I received a text from my dad asking what room number we were in and that an Apple representative would be in touch shortly - shortly being 11:00 a.m. When the Apple representative called, they had no answers for us about hotel/resort openings or about room changes in our own hotel. We were then told that she would call us back after she checked availability, and in the meantime for us to see about a room change again.

This time we were granted a chance to switch rooms. However, when we went to check out the other room, the only difference was that the view was better. By 11:30 a.m. we were tired of wasting our time in the Bahamas, and wanted to go see the area.

We went downstairs and spoke with a Majestic Tours representative who got us in touch with Apple only to find out that nothing was available.

As far as restaurants went, there was one "fine dining restaurant" if you would call it that. The food was mediocre at best, and the stained seats just topped it off.

The other choices for food were the pool bar with an extremely limited menu, and a buffet (which was really a cafeteria) with, yet again, mediocre food and limited selections.

Oh, and the nightly entertainment was one night with crotches, chests, and bottoms hanging out. The male dancer had a giant hole in his crotch while doing Michael Jackson movements. The female dancers had spandex outfits on where their bras and underpants were hanging out.

The private lagoon was really nice... not! It was a tiny, dirty-looking area where numerous boats drove by daily.

It's pretty bad when almost every other party we ran into here was unsatisfied. One poor girl was even in tears. Better yet, an employee of Majestic Tours asked us how we got stuck here (we were stuck here because of swine flu - we were supposed to be in Mexico). She told us how she wouldn't want to be stuck here either.

I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Apple shouldn't recommend it to their customers, either. If they do, one of them should have to go and stay at this paradise "dump" (this term was passed down by another unhappy vacationer). We spent together a combination of $2,400 - and for what I don't know.

The resort is nice if you get a deal. I would never pay full price to stay here.

I went down with a friend for my birthday, and when I told them that at check in, they gave us an upgraded room! This was very nice of them. However, the room had a leaky A/C, so we had to move before we killed ourselves on the slippery floor.

The next room was bigger, but the view was not nearly as nice. Also, the people below us let their dog do it's duty on there terrace (at least we hoped it was a dog!). That's not something you want to wake up to!

The bathtub faucet felt like it would come out of the wall when we went to take a shower. Also, the toilet was loose so it moved when we sat on it. Finally, the hot tub and the little beach were kind of nasty. However, the pool was okay.

The good things: The staff was nice; the drinks were great; and the food was decent. We were able to have a relaxing time and meet some great people.

I didn't see Action Jackson this trip. However, I did in January at Club Land'or. He was awesome. If you go, try to watch his show!

Overall, the good outweighed the bad. I would stay here again if I got a deal like this time. Also, I love Paradise Island it is a beautiful place.

Wow! We loved it here! Paradise Island is the place to stay in Nassau! You can walk to really nice shops at the Marina Village, and Atlantis is also close by. Paradise Island was beautiful, and much nicer than the rest of the island. There was so much to do.

The food at the hotel was very good, and there was a lot of variety. The staff was also very friendly.

We booked a harbour front room. It was worth the upgrade! There was a nice balcony and a fabulous view.

The hotel also had bicycles guests could use for free to explore, and the pool was nice.

Outdoor massages poolside were also great!

I really was scared, because I read the reviews after I had already booked. I was more than pleased, though.

It was close to the beach, and the bay was nice. Action was awesome. We hung out with him for three nights. Food wasn't the best, but there were pleanty of nice island drinks. The room was like any room I've been in near a beach.

Oh, and here's a hint: don't be an idiot and book your wedding here. It's not that kind of place. You may see drunk teens acting stupid. However, it was cheap, and it was an amazing experience for my girlfriend and me.

I also suggest you visit the Atlantis before 8:00 am or after 11:00 pm, there are no guards near the pools and fish tanks at those times.

While the resort was somewhat attractive due to being an "all inclusive" resort, I was very disappointed in the overall quality of it.

The food was less than desirable to the point of sometimes being unpalatable. The pool area was not kept as clean as should have been. As our seven-day stay (April 22 thru April 29) wore on, the pool got dirtier to the point of where the water was cloudy and murky.

Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. However, there were some individuals who seemed like they were consistently having a bad day.

One upside was definitely Action, the Limbo King. His fire dancing and limbo show were phenomenal.

If some improvements were made, this could be an above-average place.

I found this hotel to be lacking a lot of amenitiies. The rooms were run down and dirty. There was not a lot to do here, but the staff was nice.

I would not return to this hotel.

The Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort was fun for my kids and me.

There was a dining room, and a room where you could take your food to your room and eat it. The pool was great for the kids, and the spa was good for the older ones!

And you certainly can't forget "Action the Limbo King".

1.0 stars Firsst time to the Bahamas, last time at Holiday Inn! Visited: March 2005

Several of us stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree resort. To start the pictures have to be taken elsewhere because the resort I stayed at looked nothing like the website. The view is of a dirty harbor, and the swimming lagoon was full of trash. Do not let their beach influence your idea of the Bahamas because there are beautiful beaches to be found. The food was terrible, it was always cold and tasted like it was sitting out for hours. Even the "fine dinning" was terrbile. The staff might be a bit shorthanded, but they are not happy to serve you either. My experience with the staff was irratating. I think the rooms were the worst part of it all. The bathroom was filthy, the shower barely worked, and the floors were even worse. Our air conditioning never got cold even after a call to the desk. My overall impression with the Holiday Inn Sunspree was poor, I would not stay there again, and I suggest you do not either!

2.0 stars It was not good! Visited: August 2004

My husband and I stayed at the hotel last week (7/30-8/4). The hotel had some problems and we were disappointed with our stay.

We found the dining area floor to be greasy to the point of being a safety hazard. We could not walk across the floor without sliding our feet or we would slip and fall. I saw many people/children slip on the floor.

The bar and restaurant area seemed to be understaffed, therefore we waited in line for everything. The self-serve drink machines ran out often and were not refilled until the next day. The food was the same way. Often times we could not get many things in the buffet line due to food running out and no one around to refill.

The lobby restrooms were dirty, and many times they did not work or did not have toilet paper. The staff was friendly, but there just was not enough on duty to handle the crowd.

The snorkel trip that we booked in the hotel gift shop was also a disappointment. It was a snorkel / dive trip combined, so therefore the first snorkel site was for divers and all we saw was the diver bubbles.

Also, the pool was never cleaned during our stay, so we did not swim. You could not see the bottom. I was disappointed with our stay in this hotel.

2.0 stars Beware of Room Rate Switch. Visited: July 2004

This place was not all that.

Their brochure shows the hotel on a sandy beach...NOT. There is a tiny kiddy beach.

Their brochure shows the a huge lagoon
type pool...NOT. I've seen bigger pools at a rental community.

All inclusive...NOT. Well depends what you consider all inclusive.

Here is my lists of what to expect:

No Premium Liquor. Cheap hangover drinks.
Only two beers available. Miller Lite and Kalik
The ice cream machine did not work.
THe food was average at best.
The restrooms on the first floor where dirty.
YOu can only order food from the food bar during certain times. By this I mean I should be able to order food at 5:30pm.
THere is a vacant lot next to the hotel with trash and shacks.
The phones in the room did not work.
The dining room staff was mostly friendly.

And on top of all that. The quoted me a room for $285 for 4 people for one night. At checkout they tell me they made a mistake. There is $95 dollar charge for each person over two. Total $475.

$475 for one night at this place, I would have stayed at Atlantis.

Sabrina, the manager was not accomadating. I told her from the beginning, When I reserved the room for 4 was $285. I checked in and I asked the lady at the front desk, she told me $285. Now the manager at checkout tells me, no its $475 and there is nothing I can do about it, because I signed the guest card and it states they can charge me any charges that they say I'm resposible for. Was this a bait and switch? Quote you a price to come and then they tell you, no it was a mistake.

Needless to say I will never stay here again. Go to Atlantis, it's a beautiful hotel. That's the only positve thing about this place. It's close to Atlantis.

2.0 stars Some parting advice Visited: February 2004

If your want to lounge on a beach looking out into the distant ocean and hear the lapping of waves, you are out of luck. A "Boardwalk" encloses the water, and past this enclosure is the harbor. Expect to see small boats and seaplanes pass your eyes every now and then. All this doesn't really create a nice tranquil setting. But I guess its perfect to keep kids corralled in. Expect a 10 minute walk to the public walkway to a proper beach. Once on the beach you can walk down to the beaches in front of Sheraton or Atlantis, we didn't have any problems in using their beaches or chairs.

One of the first things you should do is to book dinner reservation at the restaurant for every night, all though their menu is the same every evening. The food at the buffet was unimpressive. The lunch buffet was pitiful, it was either spaghetti and meatballs, or pasta, or omelettes depending on the day, along with the salad bar. We got food from the grill most of the time. In the morning the food was the simple continental breakfast buffet.

We downgraded from a room with a balcony, after seeing the view of only the harbor and the pool below. Instead stayed in a nice corner room with a view of the opening of the harbor.

The hotel has everything you will need for a holiday to the Bahamas, The day trip which the hotel offers is a great way to some of the smaller islands. The hotel pool and small beach area is ideal for relaxing. Very helpful staff and good service.

4.0 stars We really enjoyed the amenities and all-inclusive arrangement. Visited: December 2003

We noticed that the hotel was well maintained and amenties like the pool, tennis courts, basketball, gym, etc. were in excellent shape. The private beach and volleyball were also quite nice.

We calculated substantial savings given the all-inclusive arrangement. And of course, the more you frequent their indoor and poolside bars, the more favorable that equation. But the savings in food alone more than made up for the moderate price increase and we enjoyed it as well!

Also, because the property was situated on the harbor and the hotel invested a substantial sum in building a breaker, the beach was much safer for our children than if we had been on the ocean side. Management seemed to be paying close attention to details and interested in our good time - as evidenced by the great limbo show with "Action Jackson" in the hotel lobby.

I'd highly recommend this property, even over the Atlantis, due to cost and because you don't have to pack a lunch just to make your way from your room to the pool.

The Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort is located in an excellent location on Paradise Island. It is within a few blocks of the beach on one side and a few blocks from the Atlantis Casino on the other.

The hotel itself is a self contained vacation with just about anything you can ask for; food, drink, pool, spa, gym and lots of fun. The staff is courteous, full of laughs and just plain nice people. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to vacation in the Bahamas.
