We enjoyed our two-week stay at Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. Visited: October 2003 |

We have just returned from a two-week stay at Holiday Inn Sunspree, where we very much enjoyed our holiday.
The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. Shelley Smith in Wahoo's bar was always cheerful, smiling and attentive. The hotel was located close to excellent beaches, and we will definitely consider staying here again. |

I arrived at the hotel and I was checked in and in my room in 15 minutes. I did not have a balcony, but my view was of the beautiful yachts docked at Hurricane Hole.
For the mornings, the buffet was excellent. In the afternoons, the pool was great to hang out by and have a few drinks. In the evenings, it was nice to be able to walk to Hurricane Hole for drinks and then walk to Atlantis for some gambling and late night activities.
I will definitely go back to the Holiday Inn on Paradise Island. |

I had a wonderful time here with my wife and son. The all-inclusive deal is very worthwhile, and the staff is very friendly.
The best thing about the place is the entertainment. 'Action Jackson' is the highlight, but CrabMan and the 'King of the Jungle' are both good, too.
Cocktails here are five-star, and the pool is good, also. |

My husband and I just got back for our stay at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. The hotel was O.K., the rooms were tidy(the floors always seemed slippery), the food was edible, the beach was tiny and was full of small, brown jellyfish and the staff was helful, some more than others. But for the price you pay, you should not expect a five star hotel!!
My biggest complaint was the location of the hotel(which was not Sunsprees fault). In my travel book it showed Sunspree being located between Cabbage Beach and Paradise Beach, which in fact it was not, it was on the harbor side, a 10 minute walk to the beach. I must warn you, if you want to go to Cove beach or Paradise beach you must enter Cabbage beach on a public entrance and walk down the beach to get to it. The hotels, mostly Atlantis, do not want you near them unless you are going to spend your money there!
Overall, we did enjoy our first visit to Paradise Island and probably will return, but next time we will stay at a hotel on the beach. |

I had a fabulous time at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. You will want for nothing when staying here.
The food was very good and the drinks were excellent. The staff was very friendly and pleasant.
The hotel was on the harbor and provided and excellent view of all the ships. Our room had an awesome view and was very clean. A visit to Cabbage Beach is a must...the most beautiful ocean I've ever swam in and just a short seven-minute walk. The pool was also fabulous and very clean.
I would definitely stay at this property again in the future. |

I came here with some buddies for Spring Break and had a blast. The food was great and the lines were not as bad as I've read in some of the other reviews - and the place was packed to capacity.
An excellent feature of the hotel was that it was right next door to the world famous Atlantis hotel, so there was always something to do (gambling, clubbing, etc).
I don't think you can beat the value for the money. If you stay here be sure not to miss "Action" the limbo/fire guy! It was quite a show. |

I had the time of my life staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. There was always something to do if you wanted, or you could relax by the pool and have a drink from the Tiki Bar. The staff was very friendly and the room had an awesome view. I will definitely make plans to stay here again on another vacation. |

We had a nightmarish experience here. Visited: January 2003 |

After traveling many, many times to different countries, this hotel was the worst that I have ever stayed in my life.
The elevators were constantly getting jammed, there was absolutely no entertainment, and the food was down right awful. They seemed not to be able to make anything different besides the same old, same old food. We were sick of it.
The worst part was that there was no beach or ocean, but a nasty little lagoon. Also, we had problems with the rooms as well, but after three days we were changed into a room we paid for.
In addition, the children's activities were supposed to be all-inclusive with the price we paid, and then I was told I must pay additional for them.
This hotel was so bad, that we received vouchers from Apple Vacations to apply towards another trip. Bahamas is beautiful, just not the Holiday Inn Sunspree! |

holiday Inn Sunspree offered fairly good accommodations. Visited: January 2003 |

My girlfriend and I stayed here during the first week of January. The hotel was very good for the price. We were lucky because it was very quiet in January.
The staff was very nice and friendly, and the food was pretty good. The main buffet restaurant could have been better for lunch, but the bar outside had great food.
The only thing bad I could say about this place is that the beach(man made) was located on the harbour side and was a little dirty. We did most of our swimming on the other side of the island which was a five-minute walk to an amazing beach. I recommend everyone going to this beach.
For the price, the Holiday Inn was great. We had an amazing time, it was safe and the people were very friendly. Just remember that the beach was not very good and there is a better one on the other side. |

We'll bring the children next time. Visited: January 2003 |

My husbad just got back from Afghanistan and needed some time to relax and spend with me in a warmer weather than North Carolina in January.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Sunspree and would love to come back with the children. Although it didn't have a real beach, the walk to the public beach wasn't far at all, it made great exercise and a wonderful family outing.
The staff was very friendly and catered to our needs. We were surprised to find a bottle of wine from the hotel manager in our room to celebrate our second honeymoon and in appreciation for what he's done in the military. The activities girls were very friendly and Clinton assisted us in the best way when we were in a difficult situation.
Although the lunch menu could have used some improvement, we never went hungry and only spent money on food outside of the hotel once when we went to Blue Lagoon. If I have the chance I'll go back to Holiday Inn and bring the kids with us.
I would just stay far, far away from the Holiday Travel people who offer time shares and commitment to travel packages, it's a major rip off and waste of time. These people are all over the place and have a desk at the Holiday Inn offering $50 or other incentives just for "touring" their hotels. At first they were extremely friendly, but when we didn't close a deal with them they actually became rude.
I'm glad I didn't buy from such hypocrites. I can honestly say that that was our only unpleasant situation at the Holiday Inn Sunspree vacation and it wasn't even their people, but from the Sheraton hotel.
Thank you Holiday Inn for a wonderful welcome for my husband after six months in the desert! |

The all-inclusive value and Junkanoo celebration are great. Visited: December 2002 |
| Posted by bodonoemi |

My family and I travelled for the Christmas holiday to see the Junakanoo Celebration during New Year's.
The kids loved the kids club and the activities, especially feeding the tropical fish on the boardwalk. The rooms were large and newly renovated - the air conditioning was almost too cold. We enjoyed the cocktail service around the pool and found Charmaine behind the bar to be friendly - she knew us by name.
We paid almost the same for the all-inclusive per night as we would have paid staying at other resorts without the meals. It was a good deal. If you go, you have to check out the all-inclusive. |

All-inclusive was a great value. Visited: December 2002 |

This was my first trip to the Bahamas and I suggest everyone trying all-inclusive. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the locals we met, especially the Limbo Fire entertainer "Action".
The staff was friendly, though sometimes the service seemed slow, but worth the wait. Everything was very expensive if you were not on the all-inclusive plan, a hamburger anywhere was $10 and a beer was $5, so we did well to shop this.
The beach overlooked the harbor and was not too large, but the pool was the largest I've ever seen at a Holiday Inn.
Atlantis was only a five-minute walk, and the Oceanside beach the same, so for the money we saved, we were happy.
If you visit, try a local hangout called Hurricane Hole Green Parrot or something like that. It was located under the big bridge and was a lot of fun to meet the crazy locals and other tourists.
We hope to go back next summer. |

We had a wonderful experience at Holiday Inn SunSpree. Visited: July 2002 |

After reading the reviews from this hotel, my friend and I went with some trepidation. What a wonderful experience!
The hotel staff was great, very eager to please. The pool bar had some wonderful food (try the conch fritters) and the drinks were not watered down as some have said. We did the all-inclusive package and it was well worth the money.
We had no cold water in our shower and they had it fixed by the time we came back from an excursion!
The breakfast bar had many choices and even a chef to make omlettes. We did not have lunches in the restaurant - we either ate at the pool bar or had pizza, which was great. Everyone who we encountered was very friendly.
Also, the pool was very clean and refreshing. Atlantis was about a 5-minute walk and was a "must" to see. |

A blow-away experience. Visited: July 2002 |

I stayed at The Holiday Inn Sunpree on July 2. What an experience!
Our luggage got lost on the plane, so we had nothing. There was a helpful clerk at the desk who offered to take us to the mall, and let us do some shopping until the airline could find our luggage. That was so so generous of her.
The staff was very helpful and always seemed to be eager to lend a helping hand. My husband and I stayed on the 9th floor and our room was great. We did not have a balcony, but we had a partial view of the harbour and a view of the island.
The food in the buffet was awesome, there was a variety of items to choose from and the assortment of pastries was outrageous. We had cocktails by the poolbar, and the margaritas were great. They even had a drink called "the Bahama Papa", that was strong, but delicious. Our stay was a blow-away experience. |

A friend and I stayed at the hotel for 4 days in June 1994 - it was the paradise Island Fun Club at the time.
From the reveiws I see only the name has changed. The hotel was nothing to write home about, the food was ok, the room had a view of the back lot and tennis court, was small, not enough towels, bugs, etc. The "beach" was a man-made pit with rocks. Thank god we were allowed to use the beach facilities at the hotel next door - which were superior!
All in All we loved our trip - hated our hotel. I havent been back to the Bahamas yet. This hotel is good if you are 2 students on a tight budget and plan on not spending alot of time in your hotel - but best bet is save the money for a better choice! |

We brought the party to the Holiday Inn!
The food from the buffet was not that great, but the food at the pool bar was pretty good. The service at both the inside bar and outside bar was very poor, for both food and drinks. You would be waiting at least 20 minutes for a drink and even longer for food.
The staff was kind of rude at times. Also, the bars often ran out of beer and vodka. But for the all-inclusive deal, you got what you paid for, and it was a great time with 20 friends! |

A most disappointing hotel Visited: June 2002 |
| Posted by Mike_Bowler |

A most disappointing hotel, we expected very much better. JMC Holidays sold this as 4-star accommodation-they have got to be joking! We experienced poor buffet food, poor restaurant service, poor bar service, bar and restaurant staff had bad attitudes, and a very small man made beach. We were not at all impressed with either this hotel or the Bahamas! |

Holiday Inn SunSpree was an affordable, comfortable and pleasant hotel. Visited: May 2002 |

If you go for the most affordable, all-inclusive deal, you're not going to get five-star top-of-the-line accommodations. However, what you will get at this place is a nice pool, decent bar, acceptable food and a clean room.
We found the staff and guests to be very nice, they had lots of fun. (A little tip: if you can't get to the buffets near the beginning when the food is fresh, ask for the a la carte menu, or eat at the pool bar.)
The rooms had ceramic tile floors and the bathrooms were small. Some of the rooms don't have a great view, but ours was okay. We were on the 12th floor.
I'd recommend the SunSpree to anyone who wants an inexpensive place to stay and plans to spend their time out and about as we did. I would go back. |
