This is the best place for spring break. Visited: January 2007 Posted by timliora We stayed here March 2006 for spring break, and it was incredible. I found none of the negative reviews to be true. The rooms were just as nice as any hotel, and the location was within walking distance to the clubs and nightlife. The beach was outstanding, and we were within walking distance to all the clubs, casino, and restaurants. Visited: November 2006 Posted by bigjake We stayed here March 2006, and it was wild. Every spring breaker on the island stayed at this hotel, or it seemed like it. We did bonfires on the beach some nights and walked to the clubs and bars other nights. We rented jet skis, snorkeled, and parasailed during the day. You can also rent boats and explore the island...and the best part is you can do all this at the resort. You don't have to get a cab anywhere. Everyone comes to you from other resorts at night. Visited: November 2006 Posted by kellymark If you stay here, you will know what I mean when I say it's the best of the best on the island. It's hard to get everything in one package. If the hotel is nice, it may not be in the best location to things and you take cabs. Or maybe if it's not so nice, you can walk to everything. Xanadu has it all. It's a great hotel in close proximity to everything...did I mention its beachfront, too? This is the best place on the island! Visited: November 2006 Posted by brittney The resort was beautiful. The people with the negative reviews must have stayed somewhere else. We were told the whole place just got completely remodeled. They had great rooms, with big, comfortable beds with canopies. They also had a great beach area. It was close to all the good stuff. In addition, they served great food at the hotel restaurant. The pool area was like a tropical lagoon. The rooms were tropical themed with flower paintings and flowers next to the furniture. Visited: November 2006 Posted by jessecates We stayed here November 1-7, 2006 and loved it. We really didn't experience anything talked about in other reviews of this place. The hotel and rooms looked new. There was new furniture, T.V. and everything. We could tell they spent a bunch of money remodeling and refurnishing the resort. The beach was out of this world beautiful (white-sand), and the place was in close proximity to the casino, clubs, and nightlife. Xanadu is the jewel of the Bahamas. Visited: October 2006 Posted by zachery This hotel is the best kept secret on the island. It's not highly advertised, but it's the best. They have a beautiful lobby area, and the rooms are big and nice. The people here are the friendliest people I have ever met. Visited: September 2006 Posted by gina We lucked into this place by accident, and we were so glad we did. Their sister property was sold out, and they moved us here. Did you find this helpful? Xanadu was outstanding! Visited: August 2006 Posted by craigandmolly My husband, daughter and I recently returned from Freeport, Bahamas. This was our first visit to this area. I had researched websites on where to stay, and read your reviews regarding Xanadu. Since most of the negative reviews were outdated, we decided we should stay there. We were actually fascinated by the fact that Howard Hughes owned this property at one time, and its location was much more desirable for us than being in the heart of Freeport. Our first impression of Xanadu was that the present owner has done a wonderful job of rehabilitating the resort, as any work completed during this massive venture, was tastefully done. Much hard work, thought, and money is going into the process of restoring this wonderful property. Through it all, management remains gracious and accommodating. It took us a day or so to wind down from our fast paced living to the slower paced island living. Lounging at the lovely pool and/or the short walk to the beach and marina helped us to relax. Dining was a pleasure whether we chose to eat in their beautiful restaurant or at the beach area. The large rooms were more than satisfactory, service was great, and anything we needed was pleasantly addressed. We intend to return here, as we are especially curious to see Xanadu when the restorations are completed. If you are looking to relax in a private area of Grand Bahama Island, just a taxi ride from the hustle and bustle of Freeport, Xanadu is the place to stay. We highly recommend Xanadu, and give it a five-star rating.
