This was a very nice and quiet hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did a great job.
Also, the suite's decor was ecletic and classy.
If you want to keep away from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts, but still want shopping and restuarants nearby, this is the place to stay. It would be very suitable for couples and business people. I would stay here again. |

We had an outstanding trip. The resort was outstanding. We paid the five bucks and used the Westin's pool nonstop. We had a suite, and loved the morning muffins and delivered newspaper. Also, having someone bring you the weather report for the next day was nice.
The Ferry House was the best place to dine on the island. The room was great, the grounds were magnificant. The quality was similar to the Reefs or Nisbet Plantation at 1/4 the cost. |

This was a super nice place, with friendly staff, clean rooms, and very comfortable beds. They also had a nice view over the quiet pool and over a waterway that had lots of interesting boat traffic. It was an easy walk to the beach, as well. |

The Pelican Bay provides access to Our Lucaya across the street and has all the benefits of the bigger Starwood resort, but none of the feeling of being exploited ($15 breakfast) in what some described as regular rooms at Our Lucaya. How much access is under negotiation right now with new owners of Our Lucaya, but you could do whatever you wanted and no one would say anything.
The rooms are big and clean and have everthing you could want. The pool is great; the Yellow Tails Bar and Grille are great; the hot tub is not very tempting and they did change the foamy water the day we left; but the weather was too hot for hot tubbing for us.
Only other negative comment would be the maids disregard the "do not disturb" sign.
In general, the Bahamas have the highest per capita income in the Caribbean and that makes it a safe, guilt-free place to visit.
All the shops and restaurants of Port Lucaya are a two-minute walk from the Pelican Bay - an added benefit. Plus the dolphin experieince/ dive shop is right next door. |

Pelican Bay was a great place to stay. We had changed hotels during our vacation because the first one was horrible.
The Pelican Bay staff was very kind and understanding. They offered us a great room for a wonderful price and pretty much turned our vacation around. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the entire staff was charming.
Every morning we had breakfast on the dock in the morning air, and it was wonderful! |

The Pelican Bay provided wonderful accommodations, with great furniture and bedding. We enjoyed nice marina views.
Stay at the suites, and you won't want to leave. It was so romantic! We got upgraded to experience this perk. The property was continuing with more expanision, so in the next year or so they should have even more rooms.
It was worth the extra expense, because other things on the island left a little to be desired. You're close enough to Our Lucaya to experience it without being bothered by the crowded feel. |

We had reserved a deluxe room, but when we arrived, they had given us a free upgrade to a suite (reason unknown).
We had a living room, a kitchenette with wet bar and a stocked espresso machine. The living room looked out onto the marina/bay. A little balcony with some rattan lounge chairs came off the living room. The entire wall that faced the marina was glass/patio doors. It was beautiful.
The couch and chairs were covered in white cotton slipcovers. There were two televisions with cable (one in the living room, one in the bedroom). The bathroom was also very nice with a bathtub/shower combo.
Every morning, they delivered croissants and muffins. Since we had a small (dorm-size) refrigerator in the room, we went to the local Winn-Dixie and bought some fruit, snacks, juices and milk. The cost of food in the Bahamas was not cheap. Plus, the service in restaurants was unbearable, especially since we had our 2 1/2 year old with us.
The pool was rather small, but there was hardly anyone in it because we had access to all the pools at Our Lucaya. We usually had the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves. The food at the pool bar was actually pretty good and better priced than food at the restaurants in the marketplace.
One thing I learned after our third day here: you can walk on the docks from the hotel to the marketplace. We had been walking across the parking lot, down the sidewalks and around. The docks made it so much quicker.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. If staying in Port Lucaya, Pelican Bay is so much more intimate than the monster Our Lucaya. We did use the pools and the beach there and the staff was rather rude at Our Lucaya. Plus, it was swarmed with people. Pelican Bay had a relaxing, stress-free attitude.
Don't bother with bringing beach towels, you can check them out at the front desk. At the pool, you have the bar/grill, and you can watch boats come and go, and your room is not a far walk compared to trekking to Our Lucaya.
I would stay here again, definitely! |

We found the Pelican Bay Hotel to be very charming and intimate. The rooms were clean. The hotel staff was nice and helpful. The hotel manager was very personable and offered helpful tips before and during our stay.
The location of the hotel was great, since it was near the Port Lucaya Marketplace, the bay and the beach. Other attractions like the Casino and International Bazaar were just a short cab ride away!

Pelican Bay was a less-than-charming little hotel next door to massive Our Lucaya Resort. From the start we were not offered terry cloth robes nor did the rooms contain ironing boards or an iron for that matter. However, an iron was furnished upon request. This was of little consequence to our stay though.
We were not aware of an activities director and did not really feel welcome. It was as though the staff had no personality and could care less if we were there or not. Perhaps it was because it was the "off-season". If you don't need to be pampered and you do not wish to pay Our Lucaya prices stay at the Pelican and walk to the other resort. We were quite welcome to their pools, bars and restaurants. |
