This was without a doubt the worst resort I have ever stayed out. For the past 5 years I have taken a beach trip every year and while not all have been great, this one really stands out. Upon our arrival we were given a room which was a king bed. We had reserved two double beds as it was a friend and i traveling. We were then told it had been given away and we would have to wait 2-3 hours before another was ready. Finally we get a room that is disgustingly dirty. Next morning we were woken up by construction on our entire floor! Finally we got a nice room, but still the inconvenience wasn't worth it. The staff is not friendly and down right rude if you have a problem. Make sure you look at the times the restaurants are open because at many times all that you can eat is the pool grill, which is never open when they say. The activity sheet is put out the day of so anything that requires sign up is already full then probably won't happen. The food was bland and the same everywhere. Make sure you book reservations the day before. The 4 pools they talk about is actually one large one divided and always dirty. The beach is small and full of seaweed. Last, everyone there is on "island time" so expect to wait...for EVERYTHING!!! My advise, spend the cash and stay at Atlantis! |

Towne Hotel, New Providence Island traveler review
This hotel was awful. Visited: November 2007 |

If it were up to me, there would be no stars at all. It was not very beautiful, and the rate was ridiculous for a hotel which was not very classy.
The island was also awful for cellular phone reception. I don't know if that is a plot to get everybody to purchase phone cards, but I could not use mine at all.
The manager of this hotel had poor customer service skills, as well. Hopefully, you won't have an issue because she will tell you in a subtle way it is your fault. I found that very upsetting and annoying. I couldn't believe the nerve of her.
Also, if you need a receipt of your bill, please ask for it when you check in. I have yet to see mine - even though I was supposed to get it long ago. I guess this was also a subtle way to show me that she could not be bothered (punishment I guess). It will prove to be less financially viable for her hotel and the island in general.
I shared my experience with all of my friends and family, and we will never visit the hotel again. They need to realize that you have the purchasing power, so they need you more than you need them.
As a result of my experience, a couple of my friends opted not to choose this island as their honeymoon destination. I don't know for others, but I will opt to go somewhere else because this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. |

It's great if you like to travel in fear. Visited: May 2008 |

I spent three days in absolute fear, and the hotel staff did nothing to take me seriously - besides move my room (only to get to the new room and have the same stuff happen again).
Someone from the hotel staff got a hold of my personal information, cell phone, etc., and continoulsy called my cell phone, my hotel room and banged on the door while I was in my room. Calling out crude remarks continued for three days. I informed the front desk to stop all calls in, and they did nothing.
I finally cut my trip short, and spent over $200 to rebook my airfare to leave. The response of the hotel manager on duty that night was "Yeah, we have had this happen before." However, my favorite response was from someone working behind the desk who said "This isnt Aruba honey, you won't disappear!"
The next day, the manager on duty, Vince, told me that they would do everything possible to make up for this. However, when I tried to get refunded, they would only issue me a credit for the nights that I didn't stay.
Mind you, I am a single female traveling alone. It's been over a month, and nothing has been done. |

I had a very bad experience, and was very disappointed.
The lights went out completely the first night we were here. The hotel didn't even have generators. Also, the customer service was terrible. They were very unorganized.
I won't go back - ever. |

Romora Bay Club, Harbour Island traveler review
Romora Bay is the most romantic place in the world! Visited: November 1999 |

They have such beautiful tropical sunsets and sunrises.
I came here in 1982 with the most romantic man ever. We walked on the beach - which was really our own, as hardly anyone was on the beach.
We ate when the conch horn sounded. They had great food and drinks! |

What a disappointment!
Sure, the hotel was fancy and expensive, but the service was poor, the food was mediocre, and I might as well have stayed in the US!
This is a stupid way for anyone to visit another country. Resort vacations are not for me. I did not get to experience the culture of the Bahamas. What a bore. At least I was not the one who paid for it! |

Granted, it is the Bahamas and moreover, the back end. However, Treasure Cay, of all the places I have been in the Bahamas, is (by far) the worst of them all.
The rooms are less than clean - and defintely old. Overall cleanliness is below average, there are even roaches in the room - not nice!
The bar service is the slowiest I have encountered in the islands. Also, the food at Spinnaker's is awful. If you are on your boat, be prepared to cook every night.
They list the shopping center witnin walking distance. It is the biggest joke. Theirs is a moderately stocked grocery store, a liquor store, and a few stalls with vendors.
The highlight is the cinnamon buns at Florence's bakery. But, I will state, the beach is amazing. It is totally pristine, and the beach bar is a highlight through-out the day. They serve great frozen drinks!
If you really want to go to Treasure Cay, I suggest you rent across the street at The Beach Club. You'll be much happier. |

Researching this trip, I read that Viva Fortuna underwent serious renovations. But I had still been a little worried after reading all the bad reviews.
Fuggetaboutit! The place was beautiful. And, as of Dec 2007, they were only half finished the improvements.
They offered crazy rates. I paid $675 for four nights and five days - including air (during Christmas 2007).
Here, I ate like a pig, drank like a fish, and snorkeled in the incredible reef 30 yards off the beach. I hopped on a free bike, and zipped around the lovely suburban roads of inland Grand Bahama.
The staff was generally friendly, but there were some harmless sour pusses - as well as smiling, energetic cheerleaders (much more the latter than the former).
Now, this isn't the Four Seasons. The rooms were kind of sparse, but that's only practical in the islands. The food was basic and tasty enough, and there was always plenty. I didn't have trouble getting into the a la carte restaurants, but they were just okay.
I am going back this July. I had such a great time. I can't wait to sit on the beach, sip drinks while burgers and dogs sizzle on the grill behind me, while the beautiful, clear blue ocean gently laps the white sand at my feet.
Viva! Viva! |

Breezes Bahamas, New Providence Island traveler review
It was dirty, dirty, dirty! Visited: May 2008 |

Don't stay here. This was the filthiest hotel I've ever stepped foot in. It should be shut down - and no, I'm not exaggerating.
If you're looking to vacation in a frat house - empty beer cups everywhere, dirty beds, filthy bathrooms, poor service, and drunks at every turn - this is the place for you.
However, if you, like me, expect a hotel to change the sheets between guests, look somewhere else. Bed mites - need I say more? |

It was an average hotel for a Sheraton. Visited: January 2008 |
| Posted by cougar |
 |
We stayed at the Sheraton from 12/27/07-1/5/08, and thought this hotel was a three-star hotel at best.
The hotel was quite old. The lobby looked very tired, and has not been updated for quite some time. The lobby's color was a bright pink decor, with faded out furniture of the same color. TVs in the lobby still had antennas on them, and they only got minimal channels. For a Sheraton Hotel, I would expect more.
This hotel brought me back to the 80s. The hallways to the rooms were painted bright "yellow", and the carpets were a rainbow of colors. Also, the rooms were very old looking - basic accommodations with a very small bathroom (you could barely get two people in it to brush your teeth!).
The grounds of the Sheraton were actually very nice. It was very spacious, and the pools were huge with waterfalls and a slide for kids. The beach was nice, also.
The best part of this stay was going next door to the Westin. I would recommend hanging out at the Westin pool as it was so much nicer. They had comfortable chaise lounge chairs and music (band) entertainment in the afternoon.
The location of the Sheraton and Westin hotels can't be beat. Right across the street were restaurants, shopping, bars, and entertainment.
Since the food was quite expensive at the resorts, we would walk over to the local restaurants for all our meals. They had Subway, coffee shops, ice cream, pizza, Greek, Chinese, Italian, etc. Every night, there was entertainment, so it made our stay very fun! |

This is it - Paradise in a tangible form. No, it's not the Ritz (thank God), but it's just beautiful.
The staff ais friendly but not over the top. Everybody just has a calm attitude.
You can spend little or lots of money - it's up to you. Whichever you choose, they make no changes in how they look after you here. |

This was our ninth trip to Nassau/Paradise Island, but the first stay at Sunrise BC. It was located between the Ocean Club and Atlantis on that beautiful beach. We had a three-bedroom oceanfront unit, which was just great.
Sharon and all the staff were very nice and helpful.
We definitely will stay here again. |

We have stayed at Sammy T's three times.
Sammy is wonderful! He makes you feel welcome and at home. Andrew is a great chef, too. What is even better is that the food comes with a smile.
Sammy T's has great food, and a great beach. It's a wonderful place to stay! |

We just spent our honeymoon here, and it was perfect.
If you don't want a busy resort, with swimming pools, clubs and bars, but prefer to be remote, relaxed and hidden away - this is the perfect place for you!
Get Kirk to take you on a tour - he knows so much about the island. |

Tiamo Resorts, Andros Island traveler review
This is an escape from life as you know it! Visited: February 2008 |
| Posted by jules5853 |

We recently returned from our vacation at Tiamo, and we are already trying to figure out how soon we can return.
Not only was the location breathtaking - the accomodations, the staff, the bonefishing and the food were beyond any possible expectation that we might have had about a resort as small and remote as this one is.
We really felt like we were on vacation - the lack of contact with the outside world forced us to downshift and appreciate every second of time that we had together.
My husband bonefished his way to some of the largest fish he's ever caught (both on his own walking nearby flats and with one of the resort-recommended guides, Captain Patterson). We also saw some of the most remote areas of the Bahamas just a short kayak paddle from our bungalow.
The staff members were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and fun - Steve, Sandy, John, Eurice, Dirk, Audrey and K - we had a ball with you guys.
The food was terrific, and while we were initially unsure about the group dining aspect, it soon proved to be one of the best parts of our stay.
I also must mention that everyone at Tiamo went to great lengths in order to organize a special Valentine's Day dinner for us - it was amazing, and we loved it! I don't normally buy into that holiday, but it was hard not to given the setting and the effort that was put forth!
The beach was gorgeous, and the waters were clear, blue and warm. The snorkeling revealed unbelievable sea life, and the nature walks were informative and insprirational, as the entire resort prides itself in its conservation methods and its low impact on the fragile ecosystems of the Bahamas.
Who knew that being so responsible could come so easily over a Mount Gay and tonic at the bar or in our bungalow while playing a competitve backgammon match?
We loved it. This was an amazing place, and if you're looking to get away and reconnect with yourself or your significant other - look no further - you have found paradise. |

We had a wonderful time here.
The room was comfortable, and the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly - especially with the kids. Also, the beach was gorgeous, and the pool was great.
The restaurants were expensive, but they usually are at this class of hotel.
We visited the Atlanits, and I think I would stay at the Sheraton any day over the Atlantis. Even though the Sheraton and neighbouring Wyndham are large hotels, the pool and beach never felt crowded.
I would definitely stay here again! |

If you don't want to bothered with large crowds and hotel-like accommodations, this is the place.
It offers a nice pool, tennis courts, and is within walking distance to the International Bazaar and more. Hurricane damage in 2004 is still evident in areas around, like the golf course and casino.
They have very friendly staff, a nice BBQ area, and hot tubs. It's just a short distance from Port Lucaya (ten minutes), and transportation is provided to the grocery store and other places.
Also, the condos are well designed and comfortable. |

Here are the good reviews:
Shops were just a block away, and Atlantis was a short ten-minute walk away. The food was good, and the themed nights were nice. The only desserts I liked were the ice creams, though.
They had a decent arcade room. The drinks were average. I liked the shows. The dancers were pretty, and they danced well. The lead singer was good, too. The limbo guy was the best!
Here are the bad reviews:
The pool was not heated, and it was just too cold! The hot tub was dirty and broken. The beach was okay. They need new floating equipment. It was dirty and looked slimy.
Also, the room needed fresh paint, and toiletries were not placed in the room. The temperature gauge of the room was not working well, either.
It cost $11.00 to do a pay per view movie in the room. The decor of the room was not nice, either. I have stayed in Motel 8 rooms that looked nicer. The drapes were sheer, and we were awakened at sunrise every morning. |

Never again! Visited: November 1999 |

I don't know what the hype is all about at this resort.
It was way too huge, way overpriced, and didn't have any of the Caribbean feel that a Bahamas vacation should have. We've stayed all over the Bahamas' out islands, and a few times in Nassau, and we'd return to any of those in a heartbeat. We would never again go back to Atlantis, though.
The service received from resort staff was poor. They all seemed like we were interrupting them. The room was fine, but felt like any old Marriott in the U.S.
We had to scope out the pool and beach chairs by 6:00 am to have any chance of getting one for a few hours. We saw verbal and physical fights over pool chairs more than once. The place was huge, but it was crammed with people, which is not my idea of a relaxing time.
Yes, overall it was a beautiful place with beautiful grounds. However, we didn't really enjoy much of it.
Nobu was a disappoitment - especially for the money we spent on a meal there. I felt more like I was on the strip at the Jersey shore or in Ft. Lauderdale.
My suggestion is - if you're looking for this kind of vacation, pay a 1/4 of the price, and go to Vegas! |
