Granted, it is the Bahamas and moreover, the back end. However, Treasure Cay, of all the places I have been in the Bahamas, is (by far) the worst of them all.
The rooms are less than clean - and defintely old. Overall cleanliness is below average, there are even roaches in the room - not nice!
The bar service is the slowiest I have encountered in the islands. Also, the food at Spinnaker's is awful. If you are on your boat, be prepared to cook every night.
They list the shopping center witnin walking distance. It is the biggest joke. Theirs is a moderately stocked grocery store, a liquor store, and a few stalls with vendors.
The highlight is the cinnamon buns at Florence's bakery. But, I will state, the beach is amazing. It is totally pristine, and the beach bar is a highlight through-out the day. They serve great frozen drinks!
If you really want to go to Treasure Cay, I suggest you rent across the street at The Beach Club. You'll be much happier. |

This is it - Paradise in a tangible form. No, it's not the Ritz (thank God), but it's just beautiful.
The staff ais friendly but not over the top. Everybody just has a calm attitude.
You can spend little or lots of money - it's up to you. Whichever you choose, they make no changes in how they look after you here. |

We spent three days here after leaving a nearby resort (that will remain nameless).
The staff was great! The food was first class. The manager, Zack, was more than accommodating.
This place went the extra mile, and we are coming back! |

It was terrible.
The staff did not seem into it at all. The food was disappointing, and there were bugs everywhere. I went three days with dirty towels! |

I stayed at the resort for five days, and we had a great time.
They had a beautiful beach, pool and swim-up bar. The grounds needed some cleaning and landscaping, but the rooms were very comfortable and nice decoration. The restaurant had excellent food, and the view was awesome. |

Abaco Inn, Abaco Island traveler review
Spectacular view ...... and that's all Visited: August 2005 |

Two inch roaches in the room (many). Staff was either rude or indifferent. Food was pretty bad. Example: $28 coconut crusted grouper was still frozen in the center and outer crust was soggy - poor microwave job. $4.50 beer, $7.50 watered down highballs. Doors had locks, but hotel will not give you the key. You have to leave the room unlocked if you are not there.
Sea Spray Marina just down the road had outstanding food and friendly service as an alternative.
Not many hotel choices on Elbow Cay, but I would recommend trying someplace else than the Abaco Inn. Maybe try to rent a cottage. Lots of homes appear to be available for rent, but I did not investigate the costs.

Our family has stayed here twice, and we will be back again next summer.
The beach is beautiful and uncrowded. The staff is friendly. The rooms are comfortable. And, the beach bar is open all day.
This is not the place to go if you want night life, but if you want to relax with your family, fish, snorkel and play on the beach, this is the place to be. |

Abaco Inn, Abaco Island traveler review
It was so bad we left after only one night - even though we paid for three. Visited: August 2004 |

The locks on our villa doors were rusted off and there was no way to secure room. The grounds were in general disrepair, with stairs with broken steps.
It was some of the worst food I have had., and the resturant service was totaly unsatisfactory.
I suggest you save your money don't go to the Abaco Inn. |

Bluff House is our favorite hotel. Visited: April 2004 |

My wife and I were fortunate to have discovered Bluff House and Green Turtle Cay many years ago, and most recently spent ten days here in April 2004.
It's one of those places that keeps saying "same time next year". You also might find, like we did, that once a year isn't always enough.
The hotel is situated on the highest point of Green Turtle Cay so it has the best views on the island. From the hustle and bustle of the marina on White Sound to the sunsets over the Sea of Abaco-you see it all at The Bluff House. The stars at night are beautiful, as well.
Accommodations vary from rooms for two to villas for a family. The rooms are spread out over the property which is quite large and well landscaped. There are also two swimming pools here. Rooms and villas are well kept, very comfortable, and offer gorgeous views.
We've noticed that the staff remains the same year after year and have found them to become like family who will do anything for you. These are wonderful people who take pride in their work and are eager to make your stay very comfortable.
The restaurants at Bluff House offer all you could want. Breakfast is served in the main house. Dinner is also served here as well. The meals and service are unforgettable. There's still a bit of British formality left at Bluff House.
We eat most of our meals at The Jolly Roger which is the restaurant at the marina. They serve lunch and dinner and you don't need reservations. Green Turtle Cay's own "Gully Roosters" play at Jolly Roger once a week on Bar-B-Que night. Don't miss them.
Whatever you want to do on Green Turtle can either be done there or arranged for you. Lincoln Jones' fish/snorkel picnic is fantastic, but so is diving with Brendal. Both can be arranged at the hotel, along with some of the best bonefishing in the world. In-shore bottom fishermen as well as offshore blue water specialists will feel at home here also.
The best way to travel is by golf cart. You can rent one from Bay Street Rentals right at the hotel and go into town. New Plymouth is a must see with its roots in colonial New England architecture. Don't forget to stop at Miss Emily's Blue Bee Bar to try the Bahamas' original "Goombay Smash."
The beaches on the island are all beautiful and Bluff House even has a beach of its own. The island's only tennis court can also be found here. We'll be staying at Bluff House again next April - too bad we couldn't sneak out sooner. |

Okay, if you got this far, you found it, paradise on earth! I am a person who usually sees something once, gets his t-shirt, grins and goes away never returning. Green Turtle Cay and the Bluff House have changed that for me - forever. My travels will return me to the Bluff House at least annually and more frequently if fortune smiles.
The accommodations are excellent, the staff is absolutely supreme and the food served at the club house dining room is always of the highest caliber.
Management of the Bluff House has assembled a truly diverse group of employees that would almost have you believe that you are the only guest of concern at their establishment. In this group are some real personalities that will come to mind for you in your future life. You just can't forget them!
While visiting here, there is no one to push you toward or away from any activity. Actually, you may have to inquire to find your activity of interest.
Don't be fooled into thinking that there is nothing to do but rest and relax at the magnificent beaches, enjoy the beautiful blue waters reflecting tropical foliage or warming tropical climate. Fishing, snorkeling and dining are always available at the sportsman or family level of experience.
The local citizens are as colorful and friendly as any I have ever met and I relish the opportunities to learn of thier culture, their daily concerns and their future aspirations. I must say that in my opinion the average Bahamian is fiercely proud of whom he or she is.
This is the one place on earth, other than home, that I will return to again and again. |

It was one of my best vacations ever! Visited: February 2003 |

My wife and I went here for our first "island vacation" by ourselves since having our twins four years ago.
After spending eight nights at the the "Turtle" I can definitely say that we hit a "Bulls Eye" on this vacation destination choice. The weather was in the upper 70s to 80 each day, with rain late one evening.
The ambience at the "Turtle" was very romantic as we were easily seduced into the beautiful surroundings of powdered sand beaches, the bluest of waters, golf cart transit, and an abundance of the most friendly people I've ever encountered on a trip.
The service at the "Turtle" was excellent and the quality of the food was fabulous.
The third largest barrier reef in the world was just a short distance off shore and provided world class snorkling, diving and fishing. The skies at night sparkled with a million stars on this island with little or no crime.
The "Turtle" was a stress eliminating antedote to our normal responsibilities and a destination I look forward to returning to again. |

The rooms were nice and very well kept. They provided an adequate amount of space. The showers weren't that good (trickle!), but the beach was gorgeous and the people were extremely friendly. We were a short walking distance to anything! |

I spent 10 days on Green Turtle Cay at the Bluff House. The staff at BH was friendly and courteous. The food was fabulous--$30 for a three course dinner, with such choices as lobster, steak, and grouper every night. They also had a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres in the main house before dinner every night--very civilized.
It was very convenient to get to--fly to Treasure Cay, take a short taxi ride to the ferry and a short boat trup later, you are on the dock of the hotel.
We dove with Brendal's Dive Shop and he had some great sites. Everyone got around on GTC in golf carts. The east side of the island had one long reef close to shore and some excellent snorkeling.
New Plymouth was as quaint and charming as any place I have ever seen in the Bahamas, and I have stayed in Nassau, on Long Island, and on Crooked Island.
There were two swimming pools and two bars/restaurants at the resort, but it did not have a 'big resort' feel at all. I'd love to return. |

If you feel stressed and you wish to relax yourself, this is the place for you. You will find secluded cottages and nice hospitality.
These are the best beaches on the island (Gillam Bay and Long Bay) though they are a bit out of hand, so you need to rent a golf cart. Anyway, if you feel lazy, you have two beaches to choose from just a few meters from your own cottage. |

We stayed at Green Turtle Club for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! It was very quiet and relaxing. The island can only be reached by boat, so you have to fly into Treasure Cay and take a cab ($3 per person) to the ferry dock. The water ferry ($8 per person) will drop you off right at the Green Turtle Club.
Our favorite parts were the room, the food, and the landscaping. The room had a patio and looked out over the harbor. It was very spacious and had hardwood floors, mahogany furniture, colorful, soft bedspreads, and wicker chairs. There was a separate bathroom and vanity area.
The food was excellent! Each day you look over the dinner menu by 5pm--it's different each day. At 7:30 they come and get you from the bar and take you to your candlelit dinner table. You are served a salad and bread, followed by your choice of entree. The food tasted absolutely amazing--some of the best I've ever had. Order the beef tenderloin if you can! Hot breakfast is served from 7 to 10:30 and is very good! The dining area for breakfast is a screened-in porch looking out on the Club's beach. The bar staff could have been more knowledgeable and could have had more domestic beer, but try the Tipsy Turtle Rum Punch--it's great!
Something that we noticed immediately and admired the whole week was the landscaping. There are paths that lead up to the cottage-style rooms. They are lined with tropical flowers and bushes. There are lots of hydrangeas around the main house. Conch shells are a part of landscaping across the entire island. They are everywhere! We were told that we probably wouldn't find any whole conchs, but we found about 12 washed up in a deserted cove! The beaches are usually empty and beautiful. They are a short stroll from the Green Turtle Club. We rented a scooter for 24 hours (very reasonably priced, but reserve yours a day or two in advance). We had a blast riding up and down the 3.5-mile island! We explored the beaches in several quiet coves and visited the small town of New Plymouth. Food and gifts are cheaper in the town than out at Green Turtle.
When going to a place like this, you are so excited that you want to tell everyone about it—but then again, you don't want anyone to know about it! We can't wait to go back.

This is a charming island with friendly people and is private, peaceful and absolutely beautiful.
The Inn is roomy, comfortable and clean. It was so nice to be able to cook in our own kitchen or BBQ on our own veranda—and not have to eat out for every meal. It is a very easy walk to the restaurants and the market. We were able to get our rentals right there.
Ruth and Elon are wonderful hosts. We've been back several times and they are always so kind and thoughtful.
The waters surrounding this private island are the best: unspoiled, warm and clear—you can see forever. The marine life is healthy and abundant.
We will be back again!
