Great if you love to travel in fear Visited: May 2008 |

I spent 3 days in absolute fear and the hotel staff did NOTHING to take me seriously besides move my room only to get to the new room and have the same BS happen again. Someone from the hotel staff got a hold of my personal information, cell phone etc and continoulsy called my cell phone, my hotel room and banged on the door while I was in my room. Calls of "hey baby come suck my *ick" continued for 3 days. I informed the front desk to stop all calls in and they did nothing. I finally cut my trip short, spent over $200 to rebook my airfare to leave and the response of the hotel mgr on duty that night "yeah we have had this happen before" But my favorite response was from someone working behind the desk who said "this isnt Aruba honey, you wont disappear!" The next day the manager on duty "Vince" told me that they would do everything possible to make up for this, but when I tried to get refunded they would only issue me a credit for the nights that I didnt stay. Mind you, I am a single female traveling alone. Its been over a month, and nothing has been done. If you would like to contact me for more information on this, my email is niki245@hotmail.com |

Viola's offers delicious and casual outdoor dining. Visited: November 1999 |

On our recent stay, we took the opportunity to enjoy a stop at Viola's a number of times. We enjoyed the casual outdoor atmosphere whether we were eating prior to sightseeing, or just taking a break from the pool.
The food was delicious and appealing - to both kids and adults. We truly enjoyed everything we ordered from appetizers and meals to beer and fun cocktails.
Viola's was clean and inviting, and the staff was very friendly. It was a treat to have such a great place so close! |

Romora Bay Club, Harbour Island traveler review
Romora Bay is the most romantic place in the world! Visited: November 1999 |

They have such beautiful tropical sunsets and sunrises.
I came here in 1982 with the most romantic man ever. We walked on the beach - which was really our own, as hardly anyone was on the beach.
We ate when the conch horn sounded. They had great food and drinks! |

A Grand Bahama Island travel review
It was a terrible hotel. Visited: November 1999 |

I stayed here for a week in June 2008 .
The room was not ready, and was filthy (with old cotton buds on floor). Most of the staff seemed lazy and ignorant (although some were friendly).
Also, the food was of very poor quality and repetitive. The manager walked around seemingly oblivious to how poorly run the hotel is.
In addition, the bar staff was too busy either chatting amongst themselves or chatting up female guests to provide proper service.
The location was excellent. It is a pity the same cannot be said about the hotel. |

This was a boring way to visit a beautiful country. Visited: August 2007 |

What a disappointment!
Sure, the hotel was fancy and expensive, but the service was poor, the food was mediocre, and I might as well have stayed in the US!
This is a stupid way for anyone to visit another country. Resort vacations are not for me. I did not get to experience the culture of the Bahamas. What a bore. At least I was not the one who paid for it! |

Granted, it is the Bahamas and moreover, the back end. However, Treasure Cay, of all the places I have been in the Bahamas, is (by far) the worst of them all.
The rooms are less than clean - and defintely old. Overall cleanliness is below average, there are even roaches in the room - not nice!
The bar service is the slowiest I have encountered in the islands. Also, the food at Spinnaker's is awful. If you are on your boat, be prepared to cook every night.
They list the shopping center witnin walking distance. It is the biggest joke. Theirs is a moderately stocked grocery store, a liquor store, and a few stalls with vendors.
The highlight is the cinnamon buns at Florence's bakery. But, I will state, the beach is amazing. It is totally pristine, and the beach bar is a highlight through-out the day. They serve great frozen drinks!
If you really want to go to Treasure Cay, I suggest you rent across the street at The Beach Club. You'll be much happier. |

Researching this trip, I read that Viva Fortuna underwent serious renovations. But I had still been a little worried after reading all the bad reviews.
Fuggetaboutit! The place was beautiful. And, as of Dec 2007, they were only half finished the improvements.
They offered crazy rates. I paid $675 for four nights and five days - including air (during Christmas 2007).
Here, I ate like a pig, drank like a fish, and snorkeled in the incredible reef 30 yards off the beach. I hopped on a free bike, and zipped around the lovely suburban roads of inland Grand Bahama.
The staff was generally friendly, but there were some harmless sour pusses - as well as smiling, energetic cheerleaders (much more the latter than the former).
Now, this isn't the Four Seasons. The rooms were kind of sparse, but that's only practical in the islands. The food was basic and tasty enough, and there was always plenty. I didn't have trouble getting into the a la carte restaurants, but they were just okay.
I am going back this July. I had such a great time. I can't wait to sit on the beach, sip drinks while burgers and dogs sizzle on the grill behind me, while the beautiful, clear blue ocean gently laps the white sand at my feet.

Breezes Bahamas, New Providence Island traveler review
It was dirty, dirty, dirty! Visited: May 2008 |

Don't stay here. This was the filthiest hotel I've ever stepped foot in. It should be shut down - and no, I'm not exaggerating.
If you're looking to vacation in a frat house - empty beer cups everywhere, dirty beds, filthy bathrooms, poor service, and drunks at every turn - this is the place for you.
However, if you, like me, expect a hotel to change the sheets between guests, look somewhere else. Bed mites - need I say more? |

The resort was amazing. Sure, some people have said the staff was rude and concieted. However, you would be too if you had to work and couldn't have fun at one of the best places in the world.
I thought the food was spectacular. I have been here four times, and have not gotten food poisoning. I think the facilities were very nice, too!
The resort is family friendly with slides, a lazy river, and more. They have nice shopping facilities, and the casino is beautiful. |

It was an average hotel for a Sheraton. Visited: January 2008 |
| Posted by cougar |

We stayed at the Sheraton from 12/27/07-1/5/08, and thought this hotel was a three-star hotel at best.
The hotel was quite old. The lobby looked very tired, and has not been updated for quite some time. The lobby's color was a bright pink decor, with faded out furniture of the same color. TVs in the lobby still had antennas on them, and they only got minimal channels. For a Sheraton Hotel, I would expect more.
This hotel brought me back to the 80s. The hallways to the rooms were painted bright "yellow", and the carpets were a rainbow of colors. Also, the rooms were very old looking - basic accommodations with a very small bathroom (you could barely get two people in it to brush your teeth!).
The grounds of the Sheraton were actually very nice. It was very spacious, and the pools were huge with waterfalls and a slide for kids. The beach was nice, also.
The best part of this stay was going next door to the Westin. I would recommend hanging out at the Westin pool as it was so much nicer. They had comfortable chaise lounge chairs and music (band) entertainment in the afternoon.
The location of the Sheraton and Westin hotels can't be beat. Right across the street were restaurants, shopping, bars, and entertainment.
Since the food was quite expensive at the resorts, we would walk over to the local restaurants for all our meals. They had Subway, coffee shops, ice cream, pizza, Greek, Chinese, Italian, etc. Every night, there was entertainment, so it made our stay very fun! |

This is it - Paradise in a tangible form. No, it's not the Ritz (thank God), but it's just beautiful.
The staff ais friendly but not over the top. Everybody just has a calm attitude.
You can spend little or lots of money - it's up to you. Whichever you choose, they make no changes in how they look after you here. |

This was our ninth trip to Nassau/Paradise Island, but the first stay at Sunrise BC. It was located between the Ocean Club and Atlantis on that beautiful beach. We had a three-bedroom oceanfront unit, which was just great.
Sharon and all the staff were very nice and helpful.
We definitely will stay here again. |

We have stayed at Sammy T's three times.
Sammy is wonderful! He makes you feel welcome and at home. Andrew is a great chef, too. What is even better is that the food comes with a smile.
Sammy T's has great food, and a great beach. It's a wonderful place to stay! |

However, when we got take out, it was disgusting!
Also, the hotel looks better in pictures. It doesn't look that nice in person.

We just spent our honeymoon here, and it was perfect.
If you don't want a busy resort, with swimming pools, clubs and bars, but prefer to be remote, relaxed and hidden away - this is the perfect place for you!
Get Kirk to take you on a tour - he knows so much about the island. |

Tiamo Resorts, Andros Island traveler review
This is an escape from life as you know it! Visited: February 2008 |

We recently returned from our vacation at Tiamo, and we are already trying to figure out how soon we can return.
Not only was the location breathtaking - the accomodations, the staff, the bonefishing and the food were beyond any possible expectation that we might have had about a resort as small and remote as this one is.
We really felt like we were on vacation - the lack of contact with the outside world forced us to downshift and appreciate every second of time that we had together.
My husband bonefished his way to some of the largest fish he's ever caught (both on his own walking nearby flats and with one of the resort-recommended guides, Captain Patterson). We also saw some of the most remote areas of the Bahamas just a short kayak paddle from our bungalow.
The staff members were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and fun - Steve, Sandy, John, Eurice, Dirk, Audrey and K - we had a ball with you guys.
The food was terrific, and while we were initially unsure about the group dining aspect, it soon proved to be one of the best parts of our stay.
I also must mention that everyone at Tiamo went to great lengths in order to organize a special Valentine's Day dinner for us - it was amazing, and we loved it! I don't normally buy into that holiday, but it was hard not to given the setting and the effort that was put forth!
The beach was gorgeous, and the waters were clear, blue and warm. The snorkeling revealed unbelievable sea life, and the nature walks were informative and insprirational, as the entire resort prides itself in its conservation methods and its low impact on the fragile ecosystems of the Bahamas.
Who knew that being so responsible could come so easily over a Mount Gay and tonic at the bar or in our bungalow while playing a competitve backgammon match?
We loved it. This was an amazing place, and if you're looking to get away and reconnect with yourself or your significant other - look no further - you have found paradise. |

We had a wonderful time here.
The room was comfortable, and the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly - especially with the kids. Also, the beach was gorgeous, and the pool was great.
The restaurants were expensive, but they usually are at this class of hotel.
We visited the Atlanits, and I think I would stay at the Sheraton any day over the Atlantis. Even though the Sheraton and neighbouring Wyndham are large hotels, the pool and beach never felt crowded.
I would definitely stay here again! |
