It is an amazing place - especially for honeymoons.
The service is fantastic, and the people who work here are so charming.
We will definitely come here again for another honeymoon. |

My husband and I have been to Barbados many times. This was our first time at the Royal Pavilion and our best experience ever in Barbados.
The hotel and room were lovely, and the staff was gracious and attentive. I wish particularly to compliment the hotel manager.
My only reservation (and this may apply elsewhere in Barbados) was the lack of security on the beach. On two occasions we left the beach because we felt insecure about some people loitering. They were not hotel guests and took over some of the lounge chairs, even though some hotel guests did not have any. More attention should be paid to this.
However, our overall experience was exceptional. |

We just returned from a week at the Royal Pavilion in Barbados and can't say enough about the hotel. The rooms were gorgeous with beautiful oceanfront verandas, complete with Adirondak chairs, table and chairs for outside dining and a cushioned bench, that were only steps from the beach. Even with the door closed, you could still hear the sounds of the ocean at night.
The staff at the hotel was extremely accommodating and friendly. We truly felt like valued guests. The concierge manager, Chris, was right on the money with his suggestions for dinner including The Tides, La Terra, and Carambola. Golf at the Royal Westmoreland was the best course on the island, with picturesque holes and convenient shuttle from the hotel which was only 2-3 miles away.
The beach was gorgeous with plenty of room for all guests, and cushioned chairs and umbrellas were provided daily.
Afternoon tea was a treat after a day in the sun, complete with sandwiches, tarts and cream puffs!
The grounds were well kept, although as hard as we tried, we never found the elusive green monkeys that were rumored to reside on the island.
It was the nicest resort we've seen in the Carribean so far. . . you won't go wrong with a visit at the Royal Pavilion. |

Royal Pavilion was a completely lovely experience. Visited: August 2002 |

We've just returned from a delightful stay at the Royal Pavilion. The staff was friendly and helpful, learning our names and using them frequently. The lobby and gardens were absolutely lovely, with lush vegetation and flowers to surround you as you come and go.
The oceanview rooms were fully as nice as the rooms we've had on previous visits to Barbados when we stayed at Sandy Lane. The presence of a small couch and cocktail table made the room a comfortable place to be, and the decor was very upscale tropical (unlike another reviewer, I didn't think the walls seemed like cinder block -- they seemed like coral with a stucco coating). The balcony overlooking the water was wonderfully large, making it a pleasant place to sit or eat.
Breakfast in the cafe was so pleasant that we never opted for room service in the morning, as we often do. We didn't eat in the main restaurant other than to have tea, but the dining room was beautiful and tea was a nice experience.
We chatted with another guest who appeared to have limitless resources and he said that he prefers Royal Pavilion to any other hotel on the island and has been going there for 15 years. I'd go back in a heartbeat. |

The Fairmont is an elegant resort. Visited: June 2002 |

This hotel was very elegant with its pristine, new appearance. The common areas were beautifully tiled with lilly ponds and fountains.
The restaurants overlooking the water were exquisitely lavish yet comfortable, offering a full range menu at a high price. The grounds were lush and pretty and the pool area, though small, was nice. It offered wooden chaise lounges, umbrellas and bar service. The pool was basic and small and that was one thing I didn't like.
The rooms were comfortable with spectacular beach view decks, complete with table and chairs for morning or evening in-room dining to watch the sunset (or sunrise). The rooms had what looked like unattractive brown, indoor-outdoor carpet. This, and the cream-colored, seemingly cinder block walls, weren't appealing to me. The furnishings and bath were all perfectly fine.
The service was excellent with an impressive attention to detail, including bringing cool towels onto the beach so you could freshen up. Ice cold water stands and fresh towels were a bonus when sitting under umbrellas on the beach. The beach was expansive and beautiful with calm, clear, amazing water. Complimentary snorkeling and turtle viewing and boat rides were offered.
I believe they could add to their watersports to enhance the experience with floats, canoes etc. They had a floating dock to swim to and bar service. In the evening, monkeys ran through the gardens looking for fruit. They fogged the grounds for mosquitoes.
With the exception of nearly stepping right on a land crab, the experience was an excellent one and I'd highly recommend this hotel for the client who seeks a bit of comfortable luxury. In addition, you could use the facilities of the Glitter Bay which catered a bit more to families - but with elegance.
Lastly, its location was in walking distance to a grocery store, a marine park and a few restaurants. Otherwise, the bus was convenient and taxis were plentiful to the many fine restaurants in the area. |

Jewel of the Caribbean, I think not! Visited: June 2002 |

While the review we read before we booked our vacation would have you believe this was one of the top resorts in the Caribbean, we think not! We stayed in the Villa which was separate from and set back from the main oceanfront rooms, which was nice. However, with the prices being charged we would have expected much nicer amenities, even by Caribbean standards (small t.v.'s, broken AC, sparce and unimpressive furnishings, etc.).
To be fair, the management was quite responsive to our little problems, but compared to some of the other properties we have stayed at in the Caribbean, the Royal Pavillion was only above average by upscale resort standards. Restaurant was good, but somewhat expensive. Beach was quite nice as was pool, but expect to be hit up by locals selling one thing or another. |

The Royal Pavilion is of fantastic quality, with superb staff, and it is in a perfect location. What more could you ask for?
This was the latest of several visits, and we can't wait to go back. |

This is a resort with a small, quaint hotel feel. However, the hotel may get overcrowded in high season.
The grounds are very well kept. They offer very nice rooms with fantastic ocean views (all rooms face the very beautiful beach). Afternoon tea was fun.
The staff is very friendly, especially at the reception and watersports areas. I did not try the food at the hotel restaurant(s) given the numerous options available in Holetown or on other beaches (ask Ricky to drop you off at Mullin's Bay -- great beach restaurant for lunch).
Overall, it is a great place to stay, relax and visit the rest of Barbados. |

My new husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at the Royal Pavilion.
When we first arrived, we were a little disappointed. We were expecting something a little bit more glamorous. The pictures and descriptions led us to believe the resort was more upscale.
We both agreed that a landscaping overhaul would make a world of difference. But after a couple of days, it grew on us and we had a good time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a minor snafu when we arrived and they took care of it right away (we had requested the "honeymoon package" but they had no record of it when we checked in).
The view from the room was absolutely gorgeous. I spent most of my time either out on the veranda or in a hammock over at Glitter Bay.
The food at the resort (and at the restaurants along the West Coast) was very good but also very expensive.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves but I don't know if we'll be going back any time in the future. |

We've been to some fabulous five-star resorts throughout the Caribbean, but this was the best—elegant, but homey at the same time. The views and water were so gorgeous, we were there during a full moon and it was hard to come off of the balcony. It was very quiet, serene.
It’s close enough to small town and great restaurants throughout island. Green monkeys were a treat around happy hour time. They were around pool and courtyard. We had a great Siamese cat with the bluest eyes ever (the house cat), we named him Sinatra and he sat with me by the pool in the evenings. My pictures of the sunset turned out so beautifully that my friends are still bothering me for copies!
You can't go wrong with this place. We liked the upstairs rooms because they had the high ceilings and were all white distressed wood furnishings. I wish I could find someplace that was like this on another island - just to see something different. |

We stayed at Royal Pavilion for our honeymoon. We couldn't have chosen a better hotel.
The food was lovely, the staff was excellent and the amenities were more than adequate.
Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained. The bathroom was clean and fresh towels provided daily. The view is beyond compare and the balcony had very comfortable seats and a table and chairs where room service could be eaten whilst overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
The only drawback for us was that a popular family resort was closed for refurbishment and a lot of people decided to bring their children to the Royal Pavilion instead. The beach was clean and the waiters were ever present to fetch drinks from the bar! Heaven!
All in all, a very enjoyable stay and we hope to return.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and we couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time. It was a little piece of paradise. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the food was fantastic. The hotel rooms were spacious, clean and had the most wonderful views in the world. I even managed to turn my hand to water skiing, which was great fun! The onsite facilities had everything that we needed. If you are looking for luxury, look no further. |

Should you want comfort, style and guaranteed sunshine... should you require luxury, a magnificant beach, and hospitality second to none in the Caribbean, then look no further than the Royal Pavilion.
We have had the privilege of vacationing at this fabulous resort on more then one occasion. We were so impressed with both the property and staff that we decided to have our nuptials on site. They even promised and delivered the fairytale sunset by which we were married. |

The best hotel in the Caribbean so far! Visited: September 2000 |

We stayed at the Royal Pavilion for our anniversary and we must say it was a wonderful experience. The staff attended to our every need and were more courteous than any other hotel we have stayed in the Caribbean (and we have visited quite a few places).
The bellman and concierge were especially wonderful and went, what we felt, was above and beyond the expected customer service level.
The hotel was very clean and the view from the room was beautiful (all the rooms back to the beach). The food at the hotel restaurant was great, although a little pricey.
There was a rum shop/bar within walking distance from the hotel called Victor's, and we went there every night for a drink because the owner, Victor, was so kind. If you go, make sure you stop in to see him.
We must say on a whole, our vacation was fabulous. All due to the nice accommodations and warm and hospitable people of Barbados! We intend to go back soon and we will definitely stay at Royal Pavilion and visit Victor's when we do!

One of the best resorts in the Caribbean Visited: July 2000 |

I have been a guest at many, many resorts in the Caribbean and can say that of them all, The Royal Pavilion is the only one I've returned to four times!
The hotel itself is wonderful. The rooms and restaurants are notch, with The Palm featuring a wonderfully imaginative chef. The breakfast buffet is a feast. The wait staff is pleasant and well informed and very eager to make you comfortable.
Location is excellent and lends itself well to sampling many of the fine restaurants along the coast. Le Cliff and Carambola are both excellent choices. Rent a jeep and explore some deserted beaches. I'll be returning for a 5th visit very soon.

Simply the best hotel in the Caribbean by far! Visited: May 1999 |

I have stayed in many hotels throughout the Caribbean & world. This hotel ranks as the best by far.
All the rooms overlook the ocean (right on the beach 5 meters away). The rooms are fitted out to the highest standards, you name it, they have it from marble bathrooms, carpeted bedroom, and a large balcony with soft furnishings. Breakfast on your balcony every morning. Turn-in service every night.
The beach is excellent (private to only Glitter Bay & RP as rocks at either end prevent walking in from other hotels). The water is crystal clear & there are even tame turtles to swim with just 100 yards up the beach. Every evening we also saw Green monkeys in the garden.
The 2 restaurants offer an excellent choice of the finest dining. I recommend the stir-fry on Sunday night.
The hotel is also now being refurbished so it will be even better! A must for any Caribbean lover!
P.S. We actually got married at the hotel in 1998 and returned again in May of 1999. Our wedding was the only one they had that month, which they said was busy for them! Not like your production line service at other hotels!

Everything that is stated about this hotel is 100% true. The only thing that was left out is that the Royal Pavillion is the only hotel in Barbados where all the rooms overlook the ocean. So any room that you get, you are guaranteed a beach front view.
