If you are looking for a great time in Barbados, don't stay at Rossomar Rental guest house. It has no great view, no radio, and no telephone in the room. It's really stuck in a little corner up an unpaved road that leads to a dead end.
If you are looking for a cozy, family oriented place, or a romantic place to stay this is not the place. If you need some place to stay in a lay over, it's the ideal place because one night is enough.
Janice Ward seems to love money, and she's not a people person. Trust me, I've stayed here, and their web site is very, very misleading. I have spoken to Janice at length about her web site, and told her it needs to be changed because it's one huge lie. |

Rossomar Rentals was located in a small quiet cul-de-sac of a residential area on the upper end of St. Stephens Hill Road. The guesthouse was only a few years old and the outside work on the property remains unfinished. From the elevated outlook, you could see the cruise ships that docked in the harbour at Bridgetown.
Our friendly and informative host, Janice Ward, collected us from the airport (USD$20 each way) and stopped off at a major supermarket along the way so that we could stock up with essentials for our week-long stay.
Our room was a reasonable size with en-suite (with excellent powerful shower). It also had cable TV, A/C, a ceiling fan and a refrigerator. We also had our own little patio / balcony outside our room. However, the room looked a little tired around the edges and could have done with a spring clean and freshening up with a lick of paint.
The communal kitchen was reasonably clean and adequate. However, more cutlery and utensils were needed, and those that were there, needed replacing.
Rossomar Rentals was a little out of the way and it was not near any other visitor accommodation / hotels. Going anywhere, in practical terms, involved either taking a bus or a taxi.
To catch a bus to Bridgetown, the bus stop was only about a seven-minute walk up St. Stephens Hill Road from the guesthouse and depending on the time of day, we waited up to 20 minutes for a bus to arrive.
To catch a bus to the fantastic beaches of the west coast, we walked about 1km down St. Stephens Hill Road until we reached the main road that straddled the west coast. Buses shuttled frequently back and forth along west coast as far as Speightstown.
However, the walk back up the hill in the dark of evening proved quite precarious with little space by the side of the road to walk safely and even less street lighting which, at times, lead to dodging cars from both directions on sharp blind bends. Taxis back to our accommodation proved a safer option. Rossomar would be more suited to those who have their own transport.
The closest beach, Brighton beach, was about a 40-minute walk away. However, our host did kindly offer to drive us to the ‘local’ beach on two occasions of our choice during our stay. |

I came home due to a death in the family. Rossomar made my stay as pleasant as it could be given the circumstances.
When my wife and I arrived, the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was very cozy, clean and secure.
What we liked most about Rossomar was the homey feel. The "common" rooms gave us the opportunity to interact with the staff and guests, while our room was quiet and a welcome retreat when we needed privacy.
If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay at a very reasonable price, you can't go wrong with Rossomar Rentals. |

I came to Barbados for business. Unfortuntely, it was bust. But the service at this guesthouse made me forget about the entire matter.
They provided pick up and drop off from and to the airport, transportation to and from town. The rooms were really large, equipped with cable televisions, two beds and - to top it all - of air conditioning.
I do believe that telling you that the staff was extremely friendly would be redundant to all that I mentioned above, but I don't think nicer people exist. I would recommend them any day.
If you enjoy receiving what you pay for, this is the place for you. It was definitely a "ten" out of "ten". |

This was the first time I heard of this guest house and decided to try it. It was a good thing, too. The service was lovely and topped with a personal touch from the owner.
We were met at the airport upon arrival, and upon departure we were taken back to the airport. They were friendly, too.
If you're looking for a nice, relaxing and quiet place stay, try them out. |

When I first arrived at Rossomar, I was greeted with a friendly smile and excellent service. The staff was very friendly and always concerned with my well being. The rooms were very beautiful and I just loved the condo look and feel they had.
When I previously visited the beautiful island of Barbados, I stayed in an expensive hotel. But now I can visit the island, stay at a beautiful guest house and still have money in my pocket.
On a scale from 1 to 10 - I give Rossomar a nine. |

Our trip to Barbados was not strictly a tourist trip. Our main purpose was family business. Rossomar suited us perfectly. We wanted somewhere which would be welcoming to children and would let us get on with what we had to do with a minimum of fuss - and that's what we got.
Our rooms were kept clean, and we could cook our own food -which was really convenient. We didn't ever feel that the children were too much trouble.
Rossomar is in a residential area with few 'tourist' facilities, so if that is most important to you, go somewhere else on the island.
There were local food shops quite close by, including a supermarket. Also, the fried fish and other food which we bought from a roadside stall one night was some of the lovliest food we had while we were here.
You will need transport if you have children, as it could become time-consuming to get around otherwise. However, there are buses that come quite regularly.
Janice is full of local knowledge, and she is a very warm hostess. I would definitely go back. |
