Do not unprade! There was very little difference (apart from the cost).
The mosquitoes were a big problem with very little done by the hotel to control them.
The food was okay, but was the same every day - especially at breakfast and lunch. Dinners were very good and varied, but you have to book a table or eat in your room. You are advised to book a table a week at a time.
The staff was polite, but it was a struggle to get a conversation out of them, and there was not much in the way of cooperation. Also, there were only two speeds with the staff, 'slow and stop'.
Weather was fantastic, and when and if it rains, it is normally very hard but brief and dries very quickly.
We had a good time - apart from the tummy bugs. However, I would not return. |

Turtle Beach Resort was wonderful. Visited: February 2007 |

This was our first time in Barbados, but it certainly won't be our last. Overall, the Turtle Beach Resort was everything we wanted it to be. The garden setting was idylic with a beautiful outlook on to the sea. The beach was clean and not overcrowded.
The staff, from the manager to the maintenance staff, was polite and attentive. They were clearly proud of their resort and their island. There was always a friendly face whenever you wanted anything.
The restaurants were of a very good quality. The Chelonia was a fantastic setting by day or night. Evening entertainemnt in the Chelonia was always of a high quality, and with Valentines night being truly memorable because of the traditional local entertainment.
If there was a downside, it was the quality of the room (ocean view junior suite). The balcony view was wonderful, but the room a 'little tired' and could do with upgrading.
A must, must must, is the catamaran trip to swim with turtles.
All in all, we had a fantasic time and would recommend the Turtle Beach Resort to anyone. In our opinion, it was excellent value for our money, and provided a superb holiday. |

We have just returned from our holiday to Barbados staying at the Turtle Beach Hotel. My husband, daughter and I stayed for 2 weeks and we enjoyed every day. The hotel staff are very nice and helpful and the food is excellent. We made many friends during our stay and will be returning again next year. The location is ideal if you want to have a look round Lawrence Gap, with many bars and restaurants to choose from. Pisces restaurant is very good. A fantastic holiday :-) |

Generally, it was very good, but the pools were crowded with children. Visited: February 2006 |

With two granddaughters in tow, we still found it impossible to get an early booking for the two restaurants. The queuing
arrangements would need a Dan Brown to unravel.
The pool areas were unsupervised, which meant high activity in all pools, including the Jacuzzi. It was not an area for little old folk to enter.
Breakfast was top notch with a wide choice easily available.
The bar areas tended to be crowded, as guests jostled to get the attention of the hard-pressed barman.
The evening entertainment was good, but the area where they performed was set well back from the viewing area in the Chelonia Restaurant, so performers could be heard but not easily seen. A pity for them, and a pity for us.
The sandy beach was marvelous, and consequently the recliners heavily were occupied. Meridona, who served drinks on the beach, was a star – and Tyson (at the bar) also shone bright. |

My husband and I took our three-year-old daughter on honeymoon with us. It was our best holiday to date!
The food, service, and staff were all outstanding. The staff could not do enough for us.
Our only problem - as such was when we were here - there was a large company that arrived for a work conference. As a result, we felt ever so slightly "put out" as one of the three restaurants was unavailable to us because of this large booking. Also, there were a couple of meetings in the breakfast area in the morning which I personally didn't want to hear whilst I was on holiday.
Apart from this I would strongly recomment this hotel. |

In our two previous years in Barbados, we had stayed at the Almond Beach Village. This year, we fancied a change of both scenery and hotel, and therefore opted for the Turtle Beach.
The location was stunning, with glorious white sand and warm seas. Although it was a bit choppy, it was perfectly safe to swim in the good waves.
We found many people staying at the Turtle Beach were repeat guests (with one person we met in his seventh year!). That is a good recommendation if ever we had heard one.
The service was typically Caribbean - slow at best, but attentive. And if you were polite to the staff they were invariably friendly to you.
We ate most nights in the main restaurant, the Chelonia. We ate all our lunches in the Waterfront, which was buffet with invariably the same most days (but with enough choice for us and our ten-year- old son.
Our room was a Junior suite overlooking the pool. We also had a view of the beach. It was comfortable, but lacked a couple of pictures to make it a bit warmer/homey. Also, the bathroom could have done with some updating (cracked tiles and some dirt around the bath). But it was spacious, and for once there were plenty of hangers in the wardrobes, we could get large bath towels, and there was plenty of hot water!
The grounds of the hotel were kept tidy, and the hotel was very clean (certainly in comparison to the Almond Beach).
The nightly entertainment didn't quite work, and we did take the opportunity to discuss this with the manager, Mr. Grant. He was most attentive, and was very much a manager who was hands-on and willing to be seen.
The problem appeared to be that the entertainment took place in an area somewhat isolated, and with no seating around where the entertainment took place. It was often very quiet with guests either congregating around a small bar well away from the entertainment, or going out of the hotel. This needs to be improved, as the standard of the singers and bands was good, but the lack of atmosphere somewhat spoiled it.
The beach staff was excellent - Maradona, in particular. He brought us drinks, fruit and even cold refreshing towels to our chairs on a regular basis.
If you want a lot of watersports, you will probably be disappointed. We certainly did more when we stayed on the west coast. It's a shame things such as fishing trips (even if it's for just an hour or so) could not be organized.
I would recommend the hotel to families, and we will certainly be happy to return. |

We arrived on Saturday, and shortly after, we lost all running water! So there were no toilets, showers, washing or mixer drinks.
In most hotels this would have ruined the holiday, but it would be very hard to stay unhappy at Turtle Beach. After two days, our water was restored and we settled down to enjoy the hotel.
We were pleasantly surprised with the food. It was much better than we had expected in an all-inclusive resort. Our room was cleaned properly every day, all the staff (bars, restaurant, etc.) were very good (Sandra in the restaurant was a treasure).
In short, the last 12 days of our holiday were great and we will be back next year. |

My family and I visited this hotel on holiday a few years ago and we thought the service and food were amazing! Everyone was so friendly, and we had a great time all-around.
There were 13 of us on the trip (from ages 4 to 55), and everyone had the most enjoyable time. Also, the activities for the children (and the adults) were great!
We decided to trek back there this year as it was so good and fun!
All around, it was an excellent trip! |

Just returned from a one week holiday at Turtle Beach , Check in was good , no problems , drinks arrived soon after we arrived in the lobby as we where hot as we had just got off the plane & most of us had long pants on being from Canada temps can still be a little cold here in may ,Anyways i will make this short & to the point , beach was great ,clean blue water beach & always able to find a decent chair , no reserving chairs needed for the beach
If you are planning on taking small kids this beach is not for you , waves were large with a fairly decent undertow
They had the red flag up everyday we where there & i talked to people that had been there for almost 16days & they said yellow was the lowest they had seen it rated (RED NO SWIMMING)(YELLOW USE EXTREME CARE)(NO LIFEGAURD)
There is one basic bar on the beach the serves Beer only & be prepared to get up off yer chair to get it (no pampering here),3-pools all where clean and not crowded , Rooms-most ocean view
as long as your on the second floor or greater ,clean, our room had some minor plumbing issues leaky tap, mucky silicone around tub (not pretty).
Restaruants- (IF YOU WISH TO EAT DINNER AT ALL YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT)Asiagos Italain eatery , also open to the general public had good food & clean to eat at,
Cheliona - good food (all foods in general)terrible service , i saw some poor guy standing waiting to be seated for almost 20 mins with lots of empty tables to be found , just being ignored so he got mad & walked away
Beach front restaruant -The best i found of all food & service
Bars- 3 in total (ok this is where i freak out !!) Where are all the staff that walk around & serve drinks & pick up garbage ??? OMG people when people pay large $$$ for a all inclusive holiday they want to be pampered & waited on , no once was anyone around the pool asked if they would like a cold drink OMG i just payed large $$$
& gota get off my chair everytime to get a drink ,I did see a guy at the beach bar serving beer (Only if you where seated very close to that bar)
One word that sux ,nuf said , moving rite along now.......
Highs , great beach for adults who like to play in the big waves, pools are good , hotel rooms most ocean view & fairly clean, food was good.Close to local grocery store & local gift shops
Nice place to go but dont expect anything more than 2*
Lows , NO drinks served , no swim up bars , no air cond restaruants ,kids play area infested with fire ants ,
There is a mini bar in the rooms , big disappointment nothing in them zzzz,
drug harrasment on the beach , saw to ladies being harressed bad , security not strong enough to fend the pushers away on the beach

We've just arrived back from Turtle Beach Resort and found the hotel a pleasant place to stay. We stayed for two weeks with a party of eight.
Our first impressions of the place were good. There was a lovely welcome for us from the porters, who we found to be extremely freindly and, over the length of our stay, very helpful.
We chose to have our first meal in the Chelonia restaurant which was the main place to eat in the evenings and breakfast time. Again, the staff was very well mannered. The meal was fine except for a mix up on my patrner's order. By the time she got hers, we had finished ours!
We came down for breakfast the next day where it is a buffet with all your favorites - sausage, egg, bacon etc. Again, no complaints on the food. But as Chelonia was all open air, it did attract the birds from the large tree in the centre of the hotel. All I will say on that is - do not leave your plate unattended!
The next few days were spent on the beach. We personally found the pool areas too hot to sunbathe. Evening meals were had in the Waterfront bar which I would say were nice - nothing special. We also dined in the Italian restaurant called Asiago's. The meals there were superb with the veal as my personal choice.
The rooms were spacious, though the bathroom could do with a lick of paint! The maid service was excellent, though the room service menu could have been a little better than just pizzas and burgers, etc.
The activities desk was situated near reception and had a whole host of things to do, such as a free shuttle into Bridgetown, catamaran cruises and nights out. We chose a cruise on "Cool Runnings". It was superb. "Harbour Lights" nightclub also organized at the desk and offered on Wednesdays a live entertainment show which was fantastic - a must see!
The beach was great with a lovely breeze. Watersports organized with the guys in the beach hut ranged from kayaking to windsurfing and jetski-ing.
One thing on the beach though, was the daily visit from the vendors selling everything from aloe vera to jewelery. The majority were fine. If you were not interested, they went away. A few were more persistent and after two weeks there, I was getting slightly annoyed.
As we are in our twenties, cannabis was offered to us on a regular basis. Even more worrisome though, was that we were also offered cocaine. All this happened in broad daylight in front of young kids playing on the beach. Apparently, there is nothing the resort can do as it is a public beach. But surely, it must be eradicated.
Overall, we thought it was a lovely resort with great staff, nice food and we left with some good memories. |

We have been back in the UK for five days and I wish I was still in Barbados. We were on honeymoon and had six family members in tow.
We last visited Barbados seven years ago, and found that things have gotten a little quicker. But that's not a bad thing.
We found the Turtle Beach Resort to be very good, and was an excellent value for our money. Premium brand drinks were available and the food was very well presented. Also, hotel staff was very helpful, and our rooms were kept clean and tidy.
The evening entertainment was okay. Several bands played during our 14-day visit, but they all played the same set - Bob Marley, Sting, Tina Turner, etc.
The only real criticism I had was that the two pool areas were too small for the hotel's size, and children were in both pools. I would suggest that there should be one pool for children and one for adults, and that it should be properly monitored. There was a small pool for adults, but there were still children in it. How about an adults-only one? |

My family and I recently returned from the Turtle Beach Hotel and we were very disappointed. The room was sub-standard (i.e. rusty bathtub), the service was quite poor and the food, for the most part, was terrible. It was not geared towards children other than the small room in the back where they were looked after. There was no room service for lunch with very restricted menus.
There were also cigarette butts on the beach and around the pool area, and bird droppings throughout the main dining facility. |

My wife and I just returned from a week stay at Turtle Beach and we were very impressed during our stay here. We were very skeptical due to all of the negative reviews, but I'm glad we decided to stay at Turtle Beach.
There were some things that needed to be addressed. First, the water didn't get all that hot all the time. In fact, it only got hot one day while we were here. It was warm enough to take showers, though.
Second, the a la carte menu was very limited and the food from the a la carte wasn't anything to write home about. Finally, the birds at times were very annoying.
Besides that, I would definitely return to Turtle Beach. The accommodations were excellent. We had a one-bedroom suite and the view was breathtaking.
The beach was wonderful and we didn't have to get up at 7:00 in the morning to get lounge chairs like some reviewers suggested. In fact, we went to the beach about 2:00 every afternoon and never had a problem finding lounge chairs.
The service was above average. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The buffet food was superb. The drinks were plentiful and satisfying. We got all this for a very reasonable price. We'll definitely return to Turtle Beach because Barbados was a beautiful island - and we would suggest that you do the same! |
