5.0 stars We encountered the most friendly and well mannered people. Visited: January 2006

My daughter and I enjoyed the most wonderful eight days at the Island Inn Hotel. I have traveled the world, and have never met so many wonderful and beautiful people as we did at this inn.

All the staff were so well mannered, and incredibly friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Even the monkeys who joined us for breakfast were friendly (and they ate bananas straight from our hands!).

The food was top class, and there was plenty of it - especially the breakfasts. Afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches was very civilized, and the bar was amazing with non-stop cocktails from 8:00 am (if you wished).

New Year's Eve was celebrated with class and style - and lots of yummy champagne. It was a holiday to remember. We will certainly be back - and hopefully very soon.

It was rated three stars. However, a definite five-star plus should be given to all the staff and for the food. It was a most delightful place to relax and be pampered. We send a big "thankyou" to everyone at the Island Inn.

3.0 stars We had a perfect honeymoon. Visited: August 2005

This was a small hotel, but perfect for what we wanted. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned to a reasonable standard daily, and the food was very good.

We never really bothered with the pool as it was quite small. But two minutes over the road was a stunning beach where we spent most of our time. There was pure, clear water, and it was absolute paradise.

There was also plenty to do day and night, and it was bargain place for duty-free shopping. We will definitely return one day.

4.0 stars The Island Inn was a very friendly and relaxing accommodation. Visited: December 2003

Having read the reviews before our departure, we had high expectations. Thankfully, we weren't disappointed.

This was not the usual all-inclusive hotel -not catering for the hundreds. The service was more intimate, and the food was great. The rooms were large and furnished to a high standard.

My only slight disappointment was the pool - it was small and tucked away. But with an amazing beach only a five-minute walk away, we soon overcame this.

In short, I would definitely recommend Island Inn for those wanting a relaxing and quiet hotel- but with bars, restaurants and nightlife only a short taxi ride away if needed.

5.0 stars A warm, friendly and relaxing place to spend a holiday. Visited: June 2003

The Island Inn is a small, intimate, and welcoming hotel situated just outside Bridgetown and close to a wonderful stretch of beach of white sand, palm trees and clear blue sea.

The hotel has an excellent restaurant serving a variety of great food. The tables are set on a verandah around a small courtyard brimming with beautiful flowers. If you are lucky, you will spot a humming bird or two coming down to feed.

The staff is really friendly and helpful, and the bartender serves a mean rum punch. The whole hotel is set in beautiful gardens providing an excellent backdrop for the chalet-style guest rooms. There is a small pool and sun terrace. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom and walk-in wardrobe.

The whole hotel is decorated in a colonial style, and the atmosphere is cool, relaxing, intimate and very welcoming. It's a great place to come back to after a day out exploring this beautiful island or from a day spent on the beach or snorkeling with the fish.

To stay here means you can chill out, eat well and contemplate just how wonderful a place Barbados is.

Island Inn was a quiet "away from it all" all-inclusive hotel. It felt as if we had hired our own private villa with a swimming pool right outside our room.

The "villa" came with a dining room but a step away, with lovely staff who were friendly and helpful. The hotel was located within walking distance of Bridgetown and there was a bustle out on the street, yet there was an idyllic beach but metres away.

Once inside the courtyard of the hotel, we felt as if we were in the depths of the French countryside - such was the architecture and ambience of the hotel.

The rooms were large and comfortable with a covered verandah for the heat of the day. Air conditioning was standard in the rooms and the showers were effective.

A tiny word of warning, I am of the opinion that this hotel was not suited to children. It was very quiet. It would not suit many families with young children as there was little to do on site.

The beach was a beach - not a tourist facility as it had no sunbeds or umbrellas. It was a beautiful beach, full stop. The swimming pool was small, but great for adults. I would fear for the safety of young children as a parent would not know a moment's peace.

All in all, it was not the usual all-inclusive, but a small quiet restful "get away" with superb food and a generosity of spirit from all the staff. For those of you worried about summer weather - it was lovely, we could not have asked for better. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This was my first trip to Barbados and it was fantastic. All the staff was friendly, all the guests were friendly and the weather was great.

Well done to the chef who made the meals wonderful every day. As for the bar staff.... I've never had a rum punch before and these guys made them perfectly.

This place is amazing. You really don't need the likes of the Escape or the Hilton to enjoy Barbados' true worth.

The Island Inn is superbly quiet, personally warm and welcoming. You don't just feel like a number - you're a guest.

The beaches are amazing - the best I've ever seen.

When we have gone all-inclusive, we have usually been let down by the quality of food whilst all-in, but this food was gorgeous.

The location is prime, with clubs and bars just up the road (about a 15 minute walk).

I highly recommend it. I love it here. It is a beautiful place.

be there in April..

Stayed at the Island Inn - it was a holiday of a lifetime! The chef was a wizard in the kitchen making each meal delighful and taking the time to talk to the guests after the meals.

The added attraction with this hotel was the fact that everyone was so friendly, but unobtrusive. We explored different nightlife spots each night and the whole island in just two days. A wonderful holiday!!
