Long Beach is the complete absence of the usual resort chaos! Visited: April 2004 |

They had a great beach location, with quiet rooms with that wonderful ocean breeze zipping through. We have been here five times and plan to return March 2005 (this is the first review we ever wrote).
We have stayed at the Ritz. This is not the Ritz, but in so many ways this is better for your mind, body, and soul! |

I rate Long Beach Club as a five-star property for many reasons. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the view was outstanding, the pool was pristine, and with only 24 units, I found it to be a very personable and comforting place.
It really was "heaven on earth" for me! No it wasn't the Ritz or the MGM Grand Hotel - and thank God for that. Simple is best - less is more and I wouldn't trade the three weeks I spend here each winter if you paid me.
Kudos to you Long Beach Club. I love it here! I have been coming for eight years (and counting!). |

My wife and I thought the situation of the hotel was wonderful. It was on a private two-mile sandy beach which was a lovely walk.
They had super staff who seemed to care about guests and give the personal touch. The rooms were large, perfectly adequate if a little dated, but very comfortable. They even had their own friendly monkeys!
The pool was great and the restaurant was cheap and good. We would definitely go back. I would recommend a hire car, though it's very much on its own and quiet. We loved this part of it! |

A special place I'll never forget, we got engaged here! Visited: August 2003 |

My boyfriend and I stayed at Long Beach Club just this past August. It was so beautiful here. The views were just amazing.
The private beach was so deserted that we felt as if we were the only ones there. It was so romantic. We would definitely stay here again.
On the first night we were here, my boyfriend asked me to marry him, right there, on a clifftop over looking the ocean. It was night, the stars were out and we could just hear the ocean. It could not have been more perfect.
Update: 5/2/04
This place is so amazing- you have to see for yourself.

The Long Beach Club is certainly not a five-star property, but it does provide excellent value for the dollar. The manager is most accommodating as is the staff. The units are clean and functional, the meals at the resort are excellent, and the view is breathtaking.
Don't exchange your Five Star, RID, or Gold Crown resort for a week at the Long Beach Club or you will be disappointed, otherwise it's good to go! |

Tired and Desolate Visited: May 2003 |

We had booked to stay at the Long Beach Club for a week in May this year. On arrival our immediate impressions were not good. Out of 24 rooms only 4 (including ours) were taken, lending the hotel a very forlorn atmosphere. It really is in the middle of nowhere and we had hired a car for the week to compensate for this, but it was a real trek to civilisation. Remote would have been OK, if it were a more attractive, tranquil, welcoming place, but a desolate landscape and lack of guests in the hotel were a real put off.
The rooms were basic and without airconditioning, which we knew about in advance, but the ceiling fans, two in the room, were very sluggish. Also light fittings were broken and the bedspread was faded, the valance stained.
We were looking forward to the beautiful beach views, but were very disappointed as the large sliding windows had ugly iron bars across them (presumably to stop burglary, even on the second floor). The bars had rusted badly in the sea breezes, and were locked shut with two rusting padlocks. The windows themselves were also blurry with sea water and salt. Not, therefore a great view.
The beach is beautiful however with large breakers and an endless expanse of space, lovely for an exhilerating walk.
Basically, the resort is old and in need of repair. For the money you need to spend on transport, it is worth staying somewhere more expensive. - Exactly what we did - we stayed two nights then traded in the car and found an apartment to rent on the west coast for only slightly more money and a much better Barbados experience. |

Our family traveled to Barbados for the first time this year and stayed at the Long Beach Club. Although the facility was dated, and the restaurant didn't have crumpets or filet mignon (both on the menu), we found the locality to be outstanding for our purposes.
We really recommend renting a car - we didn't, and the transportation costs were very high as a result. Also, we couldn't just run to the store to purchase food items.
But, we will return...the surf and the open windows were perfect for running the stress out of our lives! |

My hubby and I stayed here this year for our annual crop-over vacation. I was pleasantly surprised. This place is not for the spoiled traveler, but it is for the adventurer. Instead of air conditioning you get the beautiful ocean breeze, which is very refreshing.
People were friendly, but they are not the bend-over-backward type.
You have to rent a moke or a car if you stay here. I would suggest this place for the young traveler who is just looking to party and have a good time.

This was our second visit to Barbados, and certainly thebest. On arrival to Long Beach we were concerned that the resort seemed so quiet. The first few days of our holiday was restricting, as we had not arranged anytransport and it was very long walk to the bus stop.
Long Beach had fantastic views, and a long deserted beach, probably the best on the island.
The rooms were basic, but clean and the breeze and the soundof the frogs were quite relaxing.
Overall, Long Beach is great as long as you hire a car. Weare planning to go back in December. Also thank you to Sheryl; she was great. |

My husband and I were delighted with our stay here. It really was what we wanted, peace and quiet. We were able to go to the beach and be alone most of the time, which was a nice change from crowded beaches and ignorant people.
The surf was great for playing in but I wouldn't recommend it for small children. The people were great. Eric, the bartender, we wanted to bring home with us, a truely genuine and sweet man. Janice has found her niche and does it to perfection, and Cheryl, being Canadian, was a breath of fresh air chatting about our country.
The only downfall I could say was the lack of fresh fruit. We were hoping for a great display of fruit and it just wasn't there. But not at the fault of the resort.
One day, Jamie and I will return again for the rest and relaxation. We have had a hard time since, finding a place that offers it in the same great way.

Although the facilities were dated, we found the place very charming and quaint. The staff (Sheryl, Janis, everyone) were great! They were so friendly and very helpful with questions regarding the island, tours, directions, etc., etc. They worked very hard to keep everyone entertained and smiling—and it worked! We couldn't have been happier with their services!
We opted for the room without air-conditioning and loved it! We were able to sleep with the windows open and enjoyed not only the wonderful sea breeze, but the very relaxing sounds of the waves, frogs and rain. It was amazing! I know where we will be staying on our next visit to Barbados! |

Long Beach Club was a pleasant surprise. We stayed here on our first trip to Barbados, and it was an excellent location for exploring the island.
The rental of a "moke" was essential to our exploration. What a fun vehicle for setting out to see the island. Every day was an adventure, with the top down, and a cooler packed.
Long Beach Club is situated on the south end of the island, making driving to all areas accessible.
We met many fun-loving couples at LBC and had much fun going out to the many oceanfront restaurants and "moke caravanning" to some great obsolete coastline spots.
Some of our favorite playgrounds were Crane's Beach, Bottom Bay, Bathsheba and the infamous Round House Restaurant.
Driving the inland to cruise from coast to coast was a real "taste" of Bajan culture and we met some wonderful locals who showed us many locations that we would have never seen had we planted ourselves on the West Coast.
If you're looking for REAL hospitality, charm and authenticity, you must consider Long Beach Club for a quiet lovely place to enjoy and set up camp.

The Long Beach Club has seen better days. The place was clean, but the accommodations and amenities were dated. Unfortunately, we stayed in a room lacking air-conditioning and had to rely on the ocean breeze for cooling.
The staff tried hard to keep everyone entertained, but it was hard when The Gap and Bridgetown beckoned to the would-be party animal. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on taxi fare. Hooking up with fellow vacationers and sharing the cost helped a lot.
The atmosphere was perfect for a couple wanting to idle the day away while admiring the beautiful eastern coastline. Walks along the beach were invigorating, even if the water looked too rough to be inviting.
Almost half of the guests went on the "Cool Runnings" catamaran cruise, and that was a definite good time. Twice daily happy hours by the poolside bar kept things mellow.
Check in/check out was a breeze without the hassles that others have complained about at competing locations.
All-in-all, a decent place, but it could use a little updating.
