I stayed at the Barbados Beach Club for vacation, and it was indeed relaxing! I spent a week, and was excited with the treatment I recieved and the way everything was done.
The room was very nice, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Also, my beachfront room was really spacious, and had a remarkable view of the ocean. I was really impressed.
The food was great, and dinner was a delight with the night lights being on and the place looking beautiful. All the meals were wonderfully prepared, and the main restaurant was lovely in terms of decor. There were two other restaurants on site (Italian and seafood), but I only decided to eat at the main one. It was a buffet, and offered a la carte certain nights.
The pool and the beach were so nice and relaxing I didn't even want to come out.
In addition, the staff was very friendly. If I needed anything, it wasn't a problem. Room service was provided every day, but it was a little late once or twice.
I can't wait to go back to this hotel. I already have the date I'm returning planned. Al- inclusive is the way to go, and the best all-inclusive in Barbados is found at the Barbados Beach Club. It was awesome!

I came to Barbados for the first time for the Crop Over Festival - even though I live just an hour plane ride away in Guyana South America.
It was so good, I returned to Barbados less than six weeks after my first visit.
My stay at BBC was good. My best friend came down from the USA, and we linked up there.
The food was excellent. Make sure you eat the curried lamb. Also, there were some delightful bite sized sandwiches for tea, so make sure it's on your list.
The staff was friendly. The music after dinner was kind of retro, but still current - if you love a good 'jump-up'. Wear comfortable shoes when going down for dinner, so u can shake your leg afterwards.
We had excellent room service, and the front desk staff was wonderful. It was nice, reasonable, and still in the limelight - near Miami Beach, The Gap, etc. |

I had a great hoilday here. I stayed two weeks as all-inclusive.
The staff was very friendly, and they always had a drink to hand out.
Any water sport without a motor was free (windsurfing, body boarding, Bobcat, sailing). The food was good, but you can get better going out of the resort.
It was in a great location near the Gap and St. Ostins Fish Market. It was not as cheap as people made it out to be, as most things were around the UK prices (with only food and drink being a lot cheaper).
I will be going again. |

We are two retired Canadian ladies and we feel we got really lucky on this choice.
It was clean, with good food at all three restaurants. The staff was wonderful. Also, the owner, disguised to look like staff, strolled the grounds every day. That was impressive.
This was not a place for partiers, although we had about three nights of good live entertainment. St. Lawrence Gap with nightlife was a short way away.
Don't get a superior room; get a deluxe. Take Ted's Island Tour, and get a massage by Brenda right at the pool.
We are quite discerning, and we loved it. Would go back in a minute. |

I thought this was a terrible resort. Visited: July 2006 |

Barabados is a wonderful vacation choice, but not the Barbados Beach Club. This hotel was rated a three- and four-star by the web sites that we researched. We thought it was maybe a one- or two-star resort in reality.
We found the place to really be a dump. We thought they made no effort in decor or landscaping. We went all-inclusive, and the food was bad. There was no variety, and everything we tasted was of poor quality.
Also, if you don't make it to the scheduled time for meals or you don't like it (which is almost a guarantee), you are out of luck because there was no beachside grill for another option.
There was an Italian and seafood restaurants as options on certain days, but we found them to be equally terrible. We ended up eating out a lot. We thought the local food was wonderful, we couldn't understand why they can't cook well at the resort.
T he "gym" was comprised of a couple of cheap, borderline dangerous, tread mills, and a couple of other things. However, they had no air conditioning - not even a fan! We almost passed out!
The male hotel staff was friendly to us, but not the females. The best job on the island has to be that of the activity director because there literally were no activities here! Every night, they played bad music, and everyone just sat around and stared at each other.
The water on the south side was rough, but it was a lot of fun if you are a competent swimmer. The watersport guys were not helpful, unless you are wanting to be hit on or buy drugs. They appeared to smoke weed all day on the job, then they tried to sell it to us daily. We had to walk down to the next beach to get any help or instruction with equipment.
Also, we requested an ironing board on the first day, and they would only let us keep it for about an hour. I think there were only two in the entire resort! We often waited hours to get one.
When taking a shower, we got scalded about every two minutes. If you are looking for low budget and are okay with it, then here's your spot. They paid no attention to detail, and cut corners at every turn.
We enjoyed every minute that we were not at the resort, however. The people of Barbados were kind and honest, and the island was beautiful. If we ever go back, it will not be to Barbados Beach Club. |

I came here with my parents, and I didn't want to come in the first place. When I got here, things started to look up. It was a very nice hotel, and I couldn't fault it.
I met the most amazing people in the world. The locals were so friendly.
I really couldnt fault anything about the place, other than I had to leave it and all the friends I made. |

We arrived as a group for my daughter's wedding. The hotel was excellent, food was well presented and there was plenty of choice.
We had five young children with the group - all under the age of five - who were pampered and looked after by all the staff. The hotel was clean, the rooms had a view of the sea and it was everything and more than we expected.
We loved it so much we are going back in February. |

My husband and I stayed from April 27 - May 07 this year. I can tell you that we had an absolutely excellent time!
We had the most excellent room (corner room on the 6th floor) with a view of both the pool and the ocean. The staff at the club was so very kind to us and I'd like to make a special mention of a few of them.
Damien was the activities coordinator for guest services. What a great guy! He made sure we had fun - and we certainly did! At the bar, Morris, Andrew, Dale, Wendy (you're a good mon) and Michelle were nice. They saw plenty of us over the ten days and Dan sure made them come up with some wild drinks.
Heather, in housekeeping, did a fabulous job of keeping our room clean and getting us some extra things. Thanks so much. Also, Mrs. Broome personally welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay special.
May first was my husband's birthday, and we were given a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate. Kay, in guest services, made sure we went on some very fun excursions, and we had a blast.
I can't say enough about the resort, the staff and the wonderful time we had. The meal hours were totally civilized and we never felt rushed. The food in both a la carte restaurants was very, very good, and the food at the poolside buffet was also very good. We were afraid that it would only be acceptable, but it was very good.
We will definitely go back, provided they'll have us. Thanks, again, for the vacation of a lifetime! |

This was our first trip to Barbados and we were unsure about where to stay. We wanted to stay at an all-inclusive place, but wanted to get a good deal for our money.
The very first e-mail I sent to was responded by a speedy reply by Maxine, who was a great help in answering all the questions that I asked. Many e-mails later (all being hastily replied), we were confirmed as guests. I thank Maxine for all her courteous replies.
On arriving at the hotel we immediately felt a sense of relief as the place was surely welcoming. Dwayne, who greeted us at reception, was really nice and we eventually realized that so were the rest of the staff. Everybody was warm, friendly and helpful. Especially so was Kay in guest services who went all the way for us in getting our rented car and soft-top jeep, organizing our trip to the Harrison's Caves and to Bridgetown.
The hotel itself for US$95-100 per night was much more than we expected. My six-year-old brother stayed half price. The place was always clean and well kept -everywhere - the restaurants, pool area, lobby. The rooms were also kept very tidy with the maids starting on our floor at 8.30 am every day. They always did a terrific job, and with a smile, too.
The rooms were comfortable, and were just like any other hotel room you would probably be accustomed to. We had nice views of the ocean from the rooms we were given, and though we were a bit disappointed to be placed at the back of the hotel, we were grateful afterwards for being able to get a good night's rest with all the entertainment happening poolside.
The pool was a bit smaller than we thought, but this was not a problem because not many people actually used it. My husband and brother totally enjoyed their scuba diving lesson in the pool.
I must say that overall, I was pleased with the hotel. It far exceeded any expectations I had. I thought for those just planning on staying the hotel and not going anywhere, the beach was not that inviting. It was very rough at times and definitely not safe for children to wade in. Also, it was very small,. But nicer beaches were available within walking distance, or a short bus ride away.
Since we were staying for three days, we were allowed to have dinner in one of the a la carte restaurants. We chose the Searocks restaurant, but when we called to get reservations, it was completely booked. However, the guy in guest services talked with a supervisor and got us in. The food was generally fine and well presented, but the bar should do some work on presentation. We were very happy at the end of our stay and hope to return soon.

My wife and I went down to get married on Valentine's Day.
The ceremony was held at the hotel and was superb (great views). We had a wild time on the resort and found the staff to be excellent. They always had smiles and treated us well. I also found that the other people staying at the hotel were very nice as well.
The food was better than I expected - they had a good variety. The weather was okay, although we had some rain from time to time. We will be back to this hotel for some more fun times. |

The staff at the hotel was great. They were there when we needed them and made us feel welcome. The room we had was perfect with an ocean view and a nice balcony.
We took the hobie cat sailing boat out and had fun doing so. If you are looking for sailing, island tours or fishing, guest services can set you up. The weather was great and the slight breeze kept us cool enough to stay out on the beach all day. Bring a camera because the view was spectacular. We will be going back to the Barbados Beach Club next year. |

Our family of four (with 2 children) spent a week here. We all had a fabulous time.
The staff was so excellent with the kids my son asked "Mom, why does everyone know my name?". Their kindness seemed so natural to them .
My "three" rating was based on the hotel itself. It was very clean but average. Our family of four in two double beds was starting to get to me.
The owner should also spend some money on the pool and add a hot tub instead of this grandstand at the pool area. The banana daiquiris were great!.
The food was also good - especially the barbecue nights and lunches. They always made sure there were french fries for the kids, and the chef cooked eggs of our choice for breakfast.
The beach area was quite nice but there was no shade at all.
The location of this resort was splendid - very close to St. Lawrence Gap, shops and 15-20 minutes from the airport. |

The staff made us ever so welcome in a relaxed atmosphere. The service provided complied with all our expectations. The location was excellent for relaxing, on the beach and a dip in the pool, with a cool cocktail from the bar in between. The accommodation was very adequate and don't forget the pool tables across the road. |

First of all, the staff was excellent. They were always friendly and obliging. Captian Roy didn't say much at first, but as we got to know him, we soon discovered what a great guy he was. The staff was prepared to get familiar with friendly guests, such that we weren't treated to "Sir" when being addressed even after two weeks of getting to know them.
The room was a bit basic - we stayed in one with two double beds. The air conditioning worked fine and although there wasn't a great deal of choice on TV, there was a fridge and cooker if we wanted to prepare our own food. The walls could do with perhaps some wallpaper or a few more pictures and plants. But once settled in, we made the room our home for the next couple of weeks. Also, the maids always did a great job.
Entertainment was usually a DJ most nights, which didn't inspire the crowd into anything much. But Tuesday nights offered a live band with limbo dancing and a fire-eater chap. It was good stuff. Friday was karaoke night and could be good craic if someone interesting got up. Get yourself off to Oistin's Fish Market early on Friday evening, though. It was just down the road, and for B$15, you could have a fine feed of locally cooked fish and accessories.
The food in the main restaurant was a hit and miss affair. The breakfasts were fine and served cereals, fruits and various cooked breakfasty things. The omlettes were great. Lunch was usually good with buffet-style selections. Soups were always excellent. There was also the usual selection of salads and various meats and fish.
Dinner at night could be good and sometimes disappointing. The barbeque night (Tuesday) was really good. Book yourself into either the Italian or seafood restaurants. The Italian was fair one night, as we thought there were not enough sauces with the spaghetti dishes, but the next time, it was excellent. The fish restaurant was simply the best. We had excellent food there. The choice was limited, but just go for anything and you will not be disappointed. Service in all restaurants was excellent. The main restaurant was a bit bare, though.
The beach was smallish, but offered lots of beds. Water sports were adequate, but get yourself out on the catemeran with Captain Roy for a good experience. Try footie and cricket on the beach from time to time, but beware the flying cricket bats!
Beware also of locals trying to get you on the jet-bikes. Quite dear for 30 minutes - US$50! We got a bit fed up after telling the same chaps over and over again that we were not interested. You'll also get Aloe Vera offered, as well as back massages and necklaces. It was a public beach, so it was not the hotel's fault. To avoid it, just stay poolside.

My wife and I have just spent 7 nights at the Barbados Beach Club on the Maxwell Coast Road, between Oistins and Bridgetown, and would like to let others traveling to this resort what a wonderful time we had.
The rooms were very clean and spacious with comfortable beds and great views of either the pool, the gardens or the ocean (try to get an ocean view if possible).
There were plenty of sun-beds on the beach and around the pool for the guests to use, and the pool was clean and warm (although it wasn’t as big as it looked on the photos).
The beach was fantastic and, although not huge, it was one of the cleanest and best we saw on the island, with some shade available should the sun get too hot.
Although not al la carte, the food's appearance was great with plenty of options. It was well prepared and was very tasty (they even had a roast dinner on the Sunday.
As for the staff, they were all very friendly (once you approached them) and very helpful.
The hotel was located in an urban area with only a few shops/bars within walking distance (if you want bars/gift shops try a hotel in St. Lawrence Gap), but having said that, there was a shop in the hotel which sold gifts, chocolate, cigarettes, drink, sun-cream etc, so it was not a problem.
The evening entertainment was good on certain nights (with singers, limbo dancers, etc.) but mostly it was just a DJ playing varied tracks.
In case you were wondering, we decided on day two of our holiday that we will be going back again next year to Barbados, and will return to the same hotel. |

It was absolutely wonderful. Yes, we know what an Austrian 4 star (French, Malaysian, American etc., etc.) hotel is all about. And this was different, but great, so we gave the 4 stars to make a point.
The staff was, and I do not use the word lightly, perfect. The location was excellent. The food was nothing anyone could complain about - varied, tasty, and plenty to choose from so you can avoid items you do not fancy. Read the other reviews for details about this.
We were happy. The facilities were great - the room, beach, and amenities in and out of the room. The rooms really were spacious with wonderfully useful decks. The sea view and pool view were both good. Ask for either. Deposits for a room safe and beach towels were returned.
Also, the beach had sun and shade. The bar was open from 10:00 am to midnight - excellent. The evening music quit at 11:30 - ideal since you rise late and stay up late. We showered in the day since, like many warm places, the water was heated by the sun - but even when cold the shower was warm enough.
Men might want a light sport coat and real shoes for the fancier restaurant venues. Don't miss out on the available bus tour of the island. Our seven days were enough, but 10 would be better. We wish we had started coming here a long time ago!
Take a good camera, and use fill flash. Approved vendors had limited access, so you could get the beachwear, art, etc. you want without traveling too far. We did travel around also, and it was easy. Read a guide book though, Barabados had its quirks. Fellow Canucks: Rogers ATT trimode cellular phones work - there is an agreement. Ask before you leave on the trip. Enjoy! |

Disappointing and a real let down Visited: July 2002 |

I booked this hotel mainly on the strength of the reviews on this site which were very complimentary. However, I have to say that this hotel would ideally suit the non-discerning traveller. The accommodation was basic but adequate and seemed to be clean as was the main lobby and hallways. However, the quality and presentation of the food in the main restaurant was abysmal. Firstly the choice was extremely limited and the presentation of the food itself and the scruffy hand written descriptions was poor.
Generally the pool area was tatty with tables that had been handpainted and were subsequently peeling or chipped. I could go on forever but I won't. If you have a limited budget then you may consider this hotel to be fine. |

I was expecting horrible food from reading past reviews. It was different, but great. The variety was limited, but the taste and quanity made up for that.

A great family resort on a beautiful island. Visited: June 2002 |

My wife and two children (18 months & 4 years) stayed at the Barbados Beach Club on an seven-night, all inclusive package on our return trip from Guyana to London. [BWIA allows passengers to disembark at any of their island stops for the period of the return ticket without any further charge].
We had a very relaxing time with no reason to have to venture very far from the hotel. We had three (3 course) meals a day in the general and themed restaurants, with afternoon tea and an unlimited poolside bar thrown in. I can recommend the fruit rum punch!
The children's pool was shallow enough for them to learn to swim whilst we lounged on the sun beds nearby. The deep section was deep enough for scuba diving practice.
The general restaurant overlooked the small but perfect beach. Morning breakfast with the sun rising over the emerald green ocean with the waves breaking over the rocks and sands idealized everthing you dream of in a Caribbean holiday. [As a Guyanese, it does hurt to have to say this about one of the islands].
As part of the package, we were provided with three theme restaurant vouchers, which enabled the whole family to have an evening meal at either the Sea Rocks or Italian restaurants. By the end of the starter, the children would have fallen asleep in their buggies (exhausted by the sea air and activities organized by the hotel). This would enable us to have a very relaxing meal and to meander back to our room accompanied by the gentle lapping of the waves.
The service in the general and themed restaurants was commendable with extremely friendly staff who loved the children. The rooms were clean and private with great views. The cable TV meant that I could follow the World Cup and watch a film when I felt like it! Just writing this makes us feel like booking a flight during these cold winter evenings in London.
Oh, before I forget, the calypso band played our wedding song on our 10th wedding anniversary. What more could you ask for? |
