Here are some things to know before staying at Bougainvillea Beach Resort. Visited: April 2008 |

We traveled here with two of our daughters (15 & 17), and stayed in the studios. The hotel had a great position next to the beach, and it is very pretty. It also had good room facilities.
Although there were lots of sporting facilities listed, due to the height of the surf, some of these were not very feasible (and some were not free).
The children’s playroom was buried in the bowels of the hotel, and was completely empty. Games like pool were chargeable, and would be very popular if they were free.
Both restaurants were very quiet, and almost empty by 8:30 pm. Lanterns by the Sea was okay, but not great.
Lunch times seemed to be the busiest with takeaways popular for the beach. The weekly BBQ was good, but evening entertainment generally suffered from lack of atmosphere. We dined out most evenings, and particularly liked Bellini's Italian Restaurant at St. Lawrences Gap for outstanding pasta dishes.
Budget about $7.50 each way to St. Lawrence Gap, about $10 to Oistins, and about $17.50 to Bridgetown each way for taxis.
We tried the island tour, catamaran day trip, Atlantis Submarine, and Scuba Diving. All were excellent. The catamaran anchors for lunch at the beach next to the five-star Sandy Lane Hotel, and you can swim to shore after eating.
If we visited Barbados again, we would probably go all-inclusive to the west coast for a quieter ocean to swim in, and ability to make full use of sporting facilities. Also, the general area is prettier than the South Coast region. |

What a lovely place to stay! Visited: August 2007 |

I was at this hotel for two weeks 22/08- 05/08 2007. I got married at the resort, and could not have asked for any better service at this hotel.
The staff was lovely and friendly, always smiling and happy. I do not know what these other reviews are about as I don't have anything bad to say about the service or accomodations here. The room was lovely and clean.
I will certainly be coming back here in the future. |

This was Spring Break heaven. Visited: March 2008 |

I chose Bouganvillea Beach Resort based on a CNN travel article and further research on websites like this one. It was, indeed, very family friendly, and most of the other guests were return visitors of many years.
The staff just about kissed our feet, and they couldn't have been nicer. The bell men took care of me through a case of rum flu. The cabana boys were to die for.
The web site reviews were correct in that the restaurant was eminently passable. We got cold sandwiches there on our first day, and tried the buffet one night. The rest of the time we either cooked in our room kitchenette with supplies from the Gap mini-mart, or ate out.
Our neighbors had a full kitchen. We only regret missing Friday night in Oustins.
Duty free shopping on Barbados was jewelry, and the hotel had jewelry shows on site.
They also offered entertainment nightly by the pool and during the day on weekends.
We were very lucky on the weather, and had good body surfing the entire week. I didn't realize that it was the surfing capital of the Caribbean area. It could have been rougher. Be sure to bring SPF50.
We booked the "Heatwave" sail/snorkel trip off the hotel web site and had so much fun, we did it again the next day. The crew was up, appropriate for each group each day, and made the trip special for each guest.
My niece is already planning to return with her parents next Spring Break, and I think they are more than willing, based on our experience. I am ready to go again tomorrow. I am still wondering why I left. |

With the addition of the infinity pool, there is no reason to leave the villa.
Jackie keeps things clean, and Johnny keeps us safe. Also, the management team is attentive, and makes sure that the groceries you order are in the refrigerator and ready - including cold beer. The local fishermen will bring you the catch of the day.
This is truly the perfect place to completely relax and enjoy each other. You can enjoy reading, swimming, taking naps and sipping that rum and coke at the end of the day as you watch the ocean waves.
We will be back in June 2008 for two weeks. |

This was a piece of paradise.
The accommodation was so spacious, and the maid service was excellent.
It was located on a fabulous beach that was ideal for children. Also, the pool was wonderful and was never too crowded.
I would truly recommend a stay here, and will be coming here again. |

It was not great. Visited: January 2007 |

I was disappointed to find the beach quite lacking. It was dirty with all kinds of branches and leaves. It looked like the hotel did not do enough to maintain it.
Also, the towel system was a pain in the neck as it was not close to the beach. As well, there was a large industrial plant in your view - and that was not pleasant to see.
Service was off and on; some servers were great, other were slow and obviously not well trained.
The rooms were quite average - even though I reserved a top of the line suite.
On a positive note, the food was quite good. Although my two-year-old did not enjoy the different flavors.
I would not return here again. |

We received a big welcome here. Visited: November 1999 |

Our trip to Barbados was not strictly a tourist trip. Our main purpose was family business. Rossomar suited us perfectly. We wanted somewhere which would be welcoming to children and would let us get on with what we had to do with a minimum of fuss - and that's what we got.
Our rooms were kept clean, and we could cook our own food -which was really convenient. We didn't ever feel that the children were too much trouble.
Rossomar is in a residential area with few 'tourist' facilities, so if that is most important to you, go somewhere else on the island.
There were local food shops quite close by, including a supermarket. Also, the fried fish and other food which we bought from a roadside stall one night was some of the lovliest food we had while we were here.
You will need transport if you have children, as it could become time-consuming to get around otherwise. However, there are buses that come quite regularly.
Janice is full of local knowledge, and she is a very warm hostess. I would definitely go back. |

This would be perfect second honeymoon - or first! Visited: February 2008 |

This was our first time back to Barbados since our honeymoon 28 years ago. It was a surprise for my loving wife. Little Arches exeeded all our expectations.
The hotel staff went out of their way to help with any questions or needs we had. They made us feel like we were staying with friends. The hotel itself was charming and the rooms were beautiful.
Cafe Luna Restaurant was beautiful and airy with wonderful ocean views. The food was delicious, and served magnificently by all staff members. The owners have every right to be proud of the hotel / restaurant and its employees.
The tree lined beach was a short walk - and well worth the trip. I would recommend renting a car to explore the island and take advantage of some of the great restaurants only four miles away at St. Lawrence Gap.
We cannot wait to return to the island, and to Little Arches, of course! Our special thanks to all, for making this long overdue vacation perfect! |

Everything WhereToStay had told us about Westshore came true.
Juliana and Liana were outstanding. They were there when we
needed them, and disappeared when they were not needed.
The cooking was fabulous, and the care was greatly appreciated. My husband located his cousin, John Hunte, and that was wonderful.
It was an unforgettable trip, and I know where to go if we decide to return! |

My family and some friends went to La Paloma in April of 2005. The house was amazing.
We felt like we were royalty. We received wonderful service from the maids. Also, there was a huge back yard.
In addition, we liked the waterfront location. I had the best time of my life at La Paloma. My kids keep asking me when we're going back. Soon, I hope! |

A Barbados travel review

It's hard not to have fun in Barbados. The people on this island have joy in their hearts and faces. The place is stunning, like most of the Caribbean, but the population loves life and that makes this place a gem! |

Brilliant trip.
Ted's tour selects the best samples of the island; the towns, the beautiful east coast, wonderful scenic spots, the church...a very good day out, and last but not the least is his extremely witty company. You just cannot stop laughing, he is really witty, and charming.rnWe enjoyed ourselves immensely, thanks Ted. Highly recommended. |

I have enjoyed beautiful, beautiful Barbados. Visited: March 2006 |

Unfortunately, my wife just passed away unexpectedly, or I would be in Barbados again this coming March.
We started staying at the club when it was called the "Divi". You have to understand that most people who come here expect the same type of service you get at a stateside resort.
On the contrary, it is laid back here. We found the staff to be charming. If I wanted to have things happen immediately when I snapped my fingers, I could stay home and go to work. It is different here, and we found it to be very relaxing.
We owned a timeshare right next door to the club. We only ever stayed there for a week, and booked three more at the Almond Beach Club - foregoing our second week at the timeshare.
I intend to return to Almond Beach Club, and I'm sure it will be enjoyable. We both have high pressure jobs, so the commodity they sell (peace and quiet) will always attract me. I love the place. |

From the front desk to the kitchen, everyone was wonderfully cordial.
Am I allowed to give names? Well, I must name the front desk associates, Jillian and Latoya. And Christy Anne, in the dining room, was very helpful.
I was in Barbados to trace my family roots, and the staff here were very helpful.
I intend to return next year. |

I stayed here for a total of three nights, and was not totally pleased.
The room needed to be exterminated for mosquitos. I believe it occured when they cleaned the rooms and left the doors wide open for flies, mosquitos, and other insects. |

I was at the Accra overnight on business, and will return again. The accommodations were nice for the price in comparison to other hotels in Christ Church.
I had a view of the shops across the street. An ocean view would be perfect at the right price for my next visit. |

Do not unprade! There was very little difference (apart from the cost).
The mosquitoes were a big problem with very little done by the hotel to control them.
The food was okay, but was the same every day - especially at breakfast and lunch. Dinners were very good and varied, but you have to book a table or eat in your room. You are advised to book a table a week at a time.
The staff was polite, but it was a struggle to get a conversation out of them, and there was not much in the way of cooperation. Also, there were only two speeds with the staff, 'slow and stop'.
Weather was fantastic, and when and if it rains, it is normally very hard but brief and dries very quickly.
We had a good time - apart from the tummy bugs. However, I would not return. |
