This place is luxurious but laid back, with a European feel. It is located away from the town on a quiet strip of beach. It's perfect for a romantic getaway. We really felt that we'd entered another world.
Our room was large and looked out onto the sea. In fact, all the casitas are right on the beach. Each room is in it's own "casita" with a sitting area and a porch with a hammock. I loved my hammock!
There were no phones or TVs in the rooms, which is in keeping with the relaxed ambience. No CNN! (They do have a lounge with wireles Internet just in case you can't take so much mellowness.)
The food was very good, and the service was friendly and attentive. We had dinner one night out on the new pier which was very romantic.
The resort also has sea kayaks (and two new sailfish and windsurfers arrived during our stay.) We paddled out to the coral reef and snorkeled. It was amazing!
The staff also booked us on two day trips - one for diving, and one for cave tubing. They were very interesting and fun.
I would recommend Mata Chica to couples, but I think it would be perfect for a "girls getaway", too. There's a spa, and the massages are wonderful! Also, the owner mentioned that Yoga packages will begin in the spring.
We will be back!
