I have to agree with all the other reviews. Ian and Kate were the very best hosts we have stayed with. The very down to earth approach and the one to one personal attention given to us was an experience of a lifetime.
Kate's bean soup was heavenly! Kate and Ian make a great team, and provided great service. Both were warm and tended to our every need. We are likely to recommend Hickatee to our friends.
Thank you guys! |

We stayed six nights in this small, serene place - and wished it could have been longer.
Kate and Ian were warm, gracious and immensely helpful hosts. They made us feel like we were home from home.
The Toledo district of Belize was an environmental gem, and our exploration of this area was made both easy and ethical by their wealth of local knowledge and connections.
Hickatee is a sustainable place to stay, so you can enjoy the natural surroundings and Kate's excellent cooking guilt free.
Thanks to Kate and Ian for a wonderful honeymoon - we will definitely be back. |

Hickatee Cottages is serenity plus. Visited: July 2007 |

Ian and Kate are gracious hosts in this quiet (the occasional sounds of howler monkeys), serene piece of the rain forest.
Close to town, about one mile, eating spots in town are simple and inexpensive.
During our stay, we had one night of hard rain, and in the morning the ground was slightly flooded. Ian came to the cottage in high boots with coffee and toast. It was quite the surprise.
If you are looking for an out of the way stay, this is highly recommended. |

Hickatee Cottages was charming, and the owners were hospitable. The Mortons have such a lovely spot tucked in their own little corner of the jungle. They know everyone and can get you hooked up to whatever activities you like.
Have I mentioned the food? It was absolutely delicious. |

Hickatee Cottages is situated in a lovely jungle clearing without affecting the surrounding natural habitat in any way. Kate and Ian, the owners, have achieved a perfect balance with their three newly-constructed, beautifully appointed cottages. There is also a restaurant and small, intimate bar, all of which have a large covered verandah running the full length of the building.
Animal and bird life abounds, from the howler monkeys and coatis deeper in the jungle, to toucans and humming birds in the gardens.
Excellent home-cooked meals are served by Kate and Ian, who are always on hand to give advice, and attend to the well-being of guests.
This is truly memorable experience and the epitome of a nature lover's expectations! |

Hickatee is in an incredible location if you love the outdoors. They offer great wildlife watching and well-kept walking trails through the jungle.
The food is delicious, and the accommodations are spotless - all for a great price. Ian and Kate, the owners, are wonderful company, as well. |

This is an excellent place to stay to explore the Toledo district. Visited: March 2005 |

I visited Hickatee Cottages during the final stages of construction earlier this year, and have definite plans to return!
It’s a great location (best of both worlds). It's in a jungle setting, but only a mile from Punta Gorda. There is easy access to town, and for trips to the Cayes (great snorkeling at the Snakes) or inland to the villages, Mayan ruins and the jungle.
The cottages and restaurant are in the old ‘colonial’ style, and cool, spacious and comfortable. All in all, it is a good base to explore Toledo, and great value for money.
