Description

This property is no longer open.

A Mediterranean villa on the white sand beach of Placencia peninsula along
Belize's central coast pampers guests with a continental flavor and tropical
ambiance. Owners, Franco Gentile and Mariuccia Levoni encompassed luxury,
comfort, exquisite cuisine, and attentive service into this eight-room beach
resort known as House of the Moon in Garifuna, the local language.

Built around native trees on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, Luba Hati makes
the most of the area's natural environment, tropical scenery and brilliant
flowering bougainvillea. Tall palms and winding sea grape surround the
pathway to the shore where you will find a sauna and massage facilities
adjacent to the dock and thatched palapa overlooking the sea. Luba Hati is
built in fine European style with tiled floors, fine hardwood furnishings,
spacious open terraces, and local Garifuna and African artwork. Each of the
eight comfortable rooms features either two double beds or one queen, a tiled
bath with tub, ceiling fans, and terrace or balcony opening into the center
courtyard and looking beyond to the beach. The two-story U-shaped building
features a large dining room, cozy bar, an upstairs covered terrace perfect
for lounging in a hammock with your favorite beverage and reading, or visiting
with resort guests. Sunset viewing is spectacular from the roof deck
overlooking the radiant pink western sky.

Activities are endless in this Eco-traveler's dream destination of Belize.
From this central coastal location you can visit Mayan ruins and the Cockscomb
Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. It's just a short walk along the white sand beach
to the small village of Seine Bight for a flavor of local Belize, or 5 miles
to the seaside town of Placencia. Fishing and snorkeling trips are available
to experience the barrier reef running along Belize's coastline, or take a
jungle trip up the Monkey River and see native howler monkeys, iguanas and
many species of tropical birds. Scuba Diving can be arranged through local
dive shops.

Franco's Restaurant features international cuisine with an array of Italian
specialties from Pizza to Linguini to Lasagna always tempting your taste buds. Continental breakfast is included in your room rate. You will enjoy fresh tropical fruits, juices; local baked goods, cereal, coffee and more from the terrace or dining room that opens into the courtyard. The resort offers a wide choice of lunch fare and appetizers in addition to the complete and varied dinner menu. Pasta with fresh vegetables, seafood, and special sauces are an unexpected treat here next to the jungles of Belize. Enjoy a beverage at the impressive mahogany and xericote wood bar carved by area craftsmen.

Luba Hati's staff will assist with flight reservations and logistics during
your stay. It is recommended that you fly to Placencia from wherever you are
in Belize, as the roads in this part of the country are not paved. Rental
vehicles are available, and a 4-wheel drive is the thing to do. The dirt
roads are pot holed; dusty when it's dry and a quagmire when it's wet.
Average speeds are 25 mph. and car rental and gas is expensive. The way to
see the peninsula is by boat or walking along the beach. Impressive views are
a bonus when you fly over the countryside and coastline getting to and from
Placencia. Regularly scheduled 12-seat plane service is a comfortable and
efficient way to get around in Belize until the roads are paved.

See all the wonders of Belize and experience the peace and tranquillity of
this special part of paradise including Luba Hati.
