This was an outstanding destination. Visited: June 2005

I have stayed here a total of seven times - five in the rooms, and twice in the ajoining houses.

If you are not with a group, the rooms are great; but if you are with a group, I recommend the houses or villas because they provide a gathering place to congregate and hang out as a group.

Every time I have stayed here has been fantastic. Go fishing, and have the kitchen make fresh ceviche for you. You wait in the bar while they make it for you, and bring it to the bar for you. Or, you can have them prepare your catch fresh that night.

There is not a better place to unwind, relax and enjoy the beauty. Diving is awesome here, too.

We have enjoyed two stays at this resort. The beach setting was very nice, particularly for Belize. It was a fun bike ride into San Pedro, too.

The dive shop was top flight, and the food was, well, amazing. The staff was simply the best I've encountered anywhere.

Victoria House was a wonderful and relaxing property. Visited: July 2004

We stayed here for a week in July for our honeymoon. The property was beautiful, and the people were so friendly and helpful.

We had a Plantation Room, which was nicely decorated and had a view of the lush vegetation which we could see the ocean through. We recommend bringing reading materials, but if you can't live with out a TV, they will bring one to your room with VHS tapes to watch.

The water was beautiful and the dive shop was helpful for planning snorkeling excursions. They offered complimentary bikes at the front desk which we took advantage of and rode to town every day for lunch {about a 15 minute ride each way}. The food at the restaurant and bar on property was quite good.

All in all, it was a relaxing getaway, and the Victoria House was one of the nicest places to stay on Ambergris Caye.

This was a honeymooner's paradise. Visited: April 2004

We have just returned. Everything was first class. April was very windy, though, and we couldn't sit on beach any of six days. Coverups (sweaters, jackets) were needed.

The dining was good, but nothing special. Our best dinners were in town. There was no phone in our room which was inconvient for room service. And there was no coffee maker (so no AM wake-up brew).

We had a premium room, but did not have a TV. Darkness comes around 6:30 pm, so bring lots of reading material since the islands nightlife is quiet.

This was my second time at Victoria House. Everyone here was greatly accommodating and made us feel very comfortable. The Casitas were amazing, and the food was absolutely incredible. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a tropical vacation.

It was unbelievable! Visited: June 2002

We went to Belize for our honeymoon. We stayed in the honeymoon suite, which was gorgeous! Everything about Belize was wonderful.

We went on Mayan ruin tours, the zoo, snorkeling, frequented San Pedro, ate at Ramon's, biked, checked out the alligators in the Lagoon, and rented a golf cart to cruise around.

I can't begin to find words to describe the staff; our cute little housekeeper was great, the waitstaff was wonderful - we were on first name basis with them all! T

he country of Belize was spectacular! The people were so nice and so appreciative of their country. We spent a day with our own personal Mayan guide and we learned so much from him. We have such a great respect for the people and the country.

We will go back and we will stay at Victoria House again! There were no complaints for the resort. Yes, the food was expensive - but great! The place was never crowded. There were plenty of things to do, or just enjoy the quiet while reading a book and basking in the sun.

This was such a beautiful resort and area that while we were here, the model Brooke Burke was shooting an episode for her TV show, Rank! We watched the show later and I was in the background!

I want to say we'll be back. Visited: May 2002

It was a honeymoon trip to enjoy. It seemed like everyone was on their honeymoon, anniversary or retired.

The grounds were well kept. We stayed in the Windsor Suite, it was a large room with a dresser and mirror, an eating table with four chairs. There were two sets of French doors leading from the bedroom to the deck, just inches from the white sandy beach. There were nice recliner chairs to relax in and enjoy the view.

The food at the resort was good. If you're going to eat out, go the Elvis. The food was the best. The night clubs were great, they knew how to party. The NBA playoffs were going on, and thank God Ramons had a big TV in their bar area. Also, the atmosphere was great there with the live entertainment.

We had to get used to not having a television in the room. It was okay, because we entertained ourselves by going on the full day trips they planned for us. We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking, parasailing, a moonlight dinner, touring the Mayan Sites, horseback riding, etc. There was so much to do - and all the rum punch I could handle!

If you're looking for a quiet but enjoyable vacation (or honeymoon), this is the best place on the island. It was a thumbs up! Thanks, Victoria House, for giving my wife and me a great time!

A classy and beautiful place to relax. Visited: March 2002

My wife and I took our honeymoon at the Victoria House after getting married at the Moon Palace in Cancun the week prior.

The Victoria House's grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. There were many different room types (we stayed in #11, which is a 'state room'). The staff was excellent and went the extra mile to assist you in any way. That was saying a lot for a place which is laid back and you where you often hear references to "Belize Time" (whenever they feel like it).

Our room had a bed room and large bathroom. The bed was beautiful with a white netting that draped down. The bathroom had a large shower and large sink area as well as a small fridge.

The only negative note was that you needed to be mindful of the water temperature in the shower. It went from hot/warm/cold/hot for no apparent reason while we were showering. Our neighbors had the same comment.

The dining room was moderatly expensive (as was everything on the island), but was quite good. We had breakfast there just about every morning. Two eggs any way you wanted them, english muffins and a basket of assorted breads was $7.50.

There was a ton to do here - if you weren't enjoying a hammok, lounge chair, or chair in the pool. They had bikes for free, golf carts for around $12.50 an hour,
and a guy who planned events for you.

We went to Lamanai (Mayan Ruins), reef fishing and we snorkled half a day once and a full day once. I highly recomend the full day snorkle to the north side of the island with Excalibur Tours. There were no other boats and the sea life was awesome.

The Victoria House was less than two miles from town. We walked there once, took bikes once and took the golf cart twice. If you want quiet, peace and relaxation, this is the spot for you.

Other places we went to eat were the Jerk Pit (3 1/2 of 5 stars), and Elvi's Kitchen (4 of 5 stars). The Jerk Pit had killer chicken wings - buy them! As for Elvi's famous chicken - order something else. My wife had the Mayan Fish - it was okay, but I'd try other seafood if I were you.

Some people think the Victoria House is "stuffy", but I didn't think so. Everyone from the staff to the people who live here were great. There seemed to be a lot of people here from the midwest, and I'd say the average age was in the 40s (I'm 30).

There were three or four weddings held here during our six- night stay. This is the spot to get married for smaller weddings (under 15 people).

In addition, the Victoria House added a ten percent tip to lodging and dining and that took out the need to tip. I attempted to tip once and the waiter seemed a little shocked that I even brought it up.

Give them a try, I'd argue they are the best or right up there for the island.
