It was a fabulous and peaceful place to stay. Visited: August 2006 |

My husband and I, our two children, and one of my children's friends stayed nine nights at Icis Villas in August 2006 and absolutely loved it. Allison and Beverly were gracious and accommodating. Allison provided a great deal of useful information to us during our stay, and checked ferry schedules for us on several occasions. She also ordered and picked up a birthday cake for us.
I originally booked a two-bedroom villa. When we arrived, we were upgraded to two adjoining one-bedroom villas overlooking the beautiful pool. The clean rooms were spacious and comfortable. I even cooked several meals in the kitchen!
My husband and I had stayed at Long Bay Beach Resort several years ago. I definitely prefer Icis for three reasons - service, service, service. I cannot say enough good things about Allison and her staff.
I highly recommend Icis Villas for those who desire a comfortable, quiet, and clean place to stay while in Tortola. |

This was a really nice place. We stayed on St. Thomas the night before we came here and were wonderfully surprised with how much quieter this was.
We came in on the ferry from west end and rented a car. They recommended a little Tracker 4x4 and I can see why most everyone on the island drives something like this (ground clearance, not 4 wheel drive capability).
The drive from West End to Brewers Bay was stunning (if a little scary up and down the hills). Carrot and Apple bays were great and Cane Garden Bay was absolutely beautiful. We drove down the wicked hill down into Brewers Bay and right before we got to the bottom was the turn off to Icis Villas.
My wife and I were very impressed when we arrived. They had nice, clean spacious (compared to St. Thomas) rooms. We had an efficiency for $145 a night and it was well worth it. It was one large room with a bed, kitchenette and bathroom. They even put a few drinks in the fridge.
They had a local woman who made dinner in their open air dining room. We were the only ones dining that night, so my wife and I had dinner made and personally served to us, at a very reasonable price (West Indies chicken and mango mahi-mahi, both quite good). It was the most memorable meal I have had on a vacation.
They will also wash dry and fold a load of laundry for you for $7. It was nice to get some clean clothes on a trip.
This place was a nice combination of refined and casual. The accommodations were very nice and the service was great. But the atmosphere was casual. Allison and the staff were laid back, Jake was the resort dog, there were a few small cats running around, lots of chickens (like on every island it seems), and some free range cows in the bay.
They had a gate on the resort that they occasionally shut if the cows came in ( to keep them out) since they will eat the flowers and leave a mess. But, unlike some island get aways, this one had a gate to keep the cows out, not the criminals.
In addition, the beach was very nice and less than a five-minute stroll down the driveway.
The only distractions were 3:30 am rooster calls (drowned out by running the fan on the AC) and Jake would occasionally get worked up about some cows and bark a little. Not much, and not late. Otherwise, this was wonderfully quiet and laid back.
I would have given this four and a half stars if I could have, I think five stars is reserved for deluxe accommodations, but four did not do it justice, so five it is! We would definitely go back. |

Pam and I were pleasantly surprised with the quality of our experience at Icis Villas. It was superior to the more highly touted hotels. The on-site manager, Allison Roddy, has assembled a competent, warm and welcoming staff who made us feel like family, not merely guests.
Upon our late evening arrival, Beverly showed us to our quarters, a well-equipped (full size fridge, range, coffee maker, T.V., direct dial phone, ironing board, hair dryer) one-bedroom villa with a huge covered veranda, overlooking the pool and landscaped grounds.
The house count was low, so we were given a complimentary upgrade from our reserved efficiency! The rooms were pleasantly furnished, most had A.C. (ours did, but we used the ceiling fans most nights), and were kept spotless. There was even a small fitness center for guests.
Also, the property was a five-minute (level) walk to the exquisite Brewer's Bay Beach, and was tucked between lush steep hills and a creek bed fronted by a meadow. The symphony of bo-peep frogs and crickets serenaded us each night as we sat sipping Carib beer on the balcony.
We are also avid snorkelers, and Brewer's Bay was among the best of the dozens of reefs that we have visited in the Caribbean, with the quaint little Nicole's Beach Bar serving cold beer and good sandwiches. Our snorkeling tip: the west side of the bay near Nicole's was good, lots of fish, large tarpons, nice coral out beyond the small island.
However, the east side (walk to the very end of the sand, past the campground, and swim north and east) was far superior, with vibrant healthy coral and reef life. Allison and her staff (Colleen in the office was wonderful!) arranged scuba diving, recommended restaurants, gave us snorkeling tips, and helped with our rental car return.
Cane Garden Bay, a ten minute drive up and down very steep hills (you'll want a rental car here), was a beautiful arcing strand lined with restaurants, beach bars with nightly music, and watersports. Of the 30 or so tropical vacations in the last 20 years, Pam and I rate this among the top three, and give Icis Villas a rousing five stars! We shall return. |

My family has stayed at Icis Villas for five consecutive Aprils. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable, and Icis and her staff are terrific. If you are looking for Ritz-Carlton-type lodging, you should look elsewhere; in fact, you are on the wrong island. But the villas are in a beautiful location, are well run and fully equipped with full kitchens, laundry service, restaurant, a pool and a short walk to Brewer's Bay Beach, one of the best snorkeling and swimming beaches on Tortola. You will be treated well here. |
