Mango Bay Resort - Virgin Gorda, BVI

Mango Bay is a lovely spot, located on the reef-fringed Mahoe Bay, on Virgin Gorda's leeward coastline. The grounds comprise over seven-acres filled with sea grape, hibiscus, bougainvillea and different varieties of palms. Getting there is half the fun. You can take a plane to Beef
Island from Puerto Rico and then take the ferry to Virgin Gorda or you can take a lovely
long ferry ride up from St. Thomas. The choice is yours. Be sure and contact Mango Bay before you make your arrangements so they can add suggestions and ferry schedules.

The villas are a combination of duplexes with studios - one and two bedroom units that can be rented together or separately. All together they provide a spacious 3 or 4 bedroom tropical hideaway for families with children or couples traveling together. Studios have kitchenettes and shower bathrooms. Daily maid service is provided. At an additional charge they also have baby
sitters available. This is a nice touch as parents may want to dine at nearby Little Dix Bay or
go out to dinner at the many nice restaurants located in North Sound or Spanish Town.

The villas are all built with the finest materials (stone, concrete and woods) and the décor is finished in a contemporary tropical style, done with great attention to detail. Many of the furnishings have been imported from Italy and France. Each villa has a complete kitchen, an
outdoor kitchen and BBQ, bath and additional outdoor shower (it is lovely to shower among the
greenery), living room, dining area, and a large terrace that will provide you with lots of dining and lounging space as well as a perfect view of the sunsets over Sir Francis Drake Channel.

Bedrooms have both air-conditioners and fans, with ceiling fans in the living room. This adds a tropical flavor. It is possible to cook your own meals and BBQ on the terrace. Private chefs are also available, as are picnic baskets for all day excursions.

Dress casually. Virgin Gorda is a most informal island and all activities center on the outdoors. There is excellent swimming at any of the nearby beaches as well as snorkeling and windsurfing. You will want to rent a jeep for the mountain exploration of Gorda Peak, the highest point on the island, where you will find a great view of The Dogs, Tortola, Beef Island, and Gorda. Spanish Town, surrounding Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor, is 10 minutes away and provides a variety of restaurants, nightlife, shopping, and the ferry dock which connects Virgin Gorda to Tortola, St. Thomas, and other US and British Virgin Islands.

Bring comfortable shoes, as you will want to visit the old copper mine, and swim and snorkel at The Baths, all of which require some hiking. Water skiing, scuba diving and tennis are all available within a short drive of the resort. You may also want to rent a boat for day sailing or a small whaler or take windsurfing lessons. All of these activities are available.

Staying at Mango Bay is really a treat as it is nice and quiet and yet there is a lot to do. Virgin Gorda is truly peaceful. And as we said, getting there is half the fun.
