Description:
Step back in time and experience the feel of the early Caribbean at The Ole Works Inn. This carefully restored 300-year old sugar factory features 18 rooms overlooking picturesque Cane Garden Bay on Tortola's north shore. Each comfortable, air-conditioned room features a private balcony, refrigerator, ceiling fan and phone, some with cooking facilities.
Views of the lush green Tortola hillsides or the white sand rimmed Cane Garden Bay dotted with anchored yachts greet you each morning. Sunsets are spectacular across the bay toward Jost Van Dyke and the setting sun. The very top of the old mill is a Honeymoon Tower complete with a mini-bar, TV, refrigerator and balcony overlooking the bay.
One of the best swimming beaches on Tortola lies just across the street at Cane Garden Bay. Lined with a variety of lively restaurants and nightlife, this beach has something going on all the time. Laze away the afternoon under a palm tree in the shade or rent a sunfish sailboat, kayak, windsurfer, canoe, or dinghy and explore the surrounding bay. Snorkeling and water skiing can also be arranged at Beachfront Watersports Services.
Overlooking the small village of Cane Garden Bay, Ole Works Inn offers unique vacation accommodations along with a beachside restaurant, Quito's Gazebo. Here is where you will find Quito Rhymer, Tortola's famous reggae recording artist, playing solo on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and with his band, The Edge on Friday and Saturday nights. A live steel band entertains during Sunday Brunch.
Walking around Cane Garden Bay and along the beach will uncover many quaint shops, restaurants and bars to explore during your stay at Ole Works Inn. Ask Mr. Callwood to wander through his distillery where white and gold rum is still produced from the sugar cane grown on the hillsides. Purchase a bottle or two to take home and share.
Take a day trip across the channel to Green Cay, Sandy Cay, Little Jost Van
Dyke, or Jost Van Dyke and experience a true tropical get-away where you will
have the beach, or whole island to yourself. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy
snorkeling and swimming on these deserted beaches. There is a trail around
Sandy Cay, owned by Laurence Rockefeller, which affords spectacular views of
the surrounding islands. Relax and enjoy one of Tortola's little secrets,
Cane Garden Bay and The Ole Works Inn.
