3.0 stars This was our best Tortola stay. Visited: December 2008

Having stayed in Tortola in various places over the last ten years, our stay at Heritage Inn was by far the nicest. Breathtaking views and sunsets with cool island breezes (no bugs!) are calling us to return.

It is so convenient to our favorite surf spot in Apple Bay (and other snorkel spots).

There could be a few minor maintenance adjustments (i.e. window cranks not working, pool could have been maintained better). However, they are far outweighed by all the positives.

The on-site dining in the Bananakeet Cafe was fabulous, and we thanked the chef and bartender personally. Chris Washburn did her best at making our stay so comfortable and memorable.

We are looking forward to staying here next year.

We have visited Tortola for eight years now, and often stay at a hotel before we check into our rental villa. We have stayed at numerous places around the island, and this year we stayed at Heritage Inn.

What a treat. It was a great place. Chris and her staff were friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive. Our room was clean, neat, and comfortable. Also, the view was one of the best in the islands.

If you are looking for a day or two, or a week or two - you won't be disappointed here. Enjoy this beautiful spot!

What a motto! The Heritage Inn delivers on that statement - the views are wonderful.

It is a quaint hotel with a warm heart - just like Chris and her great staff (thanks, Spicey, for the recipe!). The staff makes your stay special.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, and they serve great food at the Bananakeet Cafe. You can't go wrong here.

If we ever get back to BVI, there's no question it's the Heritage Inn.

We stayed at Heritage Inn for two nights in early April after chartering a catamaran for a week. This was our sixth charter, and we now have a new tradition -- Heritage Inn for two-three nights after the charter!

Chris and everyone at Heritage Inn were great. They made us feel like we were part of the family. The view was outstanding, and the food at Bannakeet was superb!

My kids loved it (9,7,5). We spent the day at the beach, and the kids enjoyed the pool while we enjoyed happy hour. We ate dinner both nights at the Bannakeet - delicious. We hated to leave.

Our room was huge, and perfect for our family. Everything was clean. Again, the view can't be beat! I recommend the Heritage Inn for couples, families - anyone. Just don't take my room when I want to go back!

This week, we're going back for our third visit. Check out their freshest local caught lobster. The views are beyond amazing! The atmosphere is breathtaking and relaxing.

4.0 stars The view was incredible. Visited: January 2007

As soon as we arrived Friday night, we lost power. Within minutes, the staff was there with a flashlight - and the power was back on in no time.

Anything we needed, the staff was there to help us feel at home. I was suprised how large our two-bedroom unit was, basic island decor with comfy beds.

It was the view that got us. It was the most beautiful, peaceful tranquil scene to wake up to, watch the sunset or stargaze. What a feeling!

It was a great location to explore the island because you'll need a car. We spent our days sailing, snorkeling, at the beach and bars and restaurants.

If you want a true island experience, this is the place to stay.

We have been regular visitors for years. We love the easy pace and terrific service. Chris and her staff are warm and inviting, and the food at Banakeet is outstanding.

We especially enjoy being able to make coffee and hang out in the mornings while watching the charter boats sail off towards Jost Van Dyke.

The rooms/apartments are comfortable, clean, safe and secure (Tortola is friendly and safe). Noise has never been an issue; music at the restaurant is unobtrusive, over by 9 or 10 p.m., and is usually awesome!

Centrally located, it is a short drive to Sage Mountain, Cane Garden Bay and West End. The price is attractive as well.

This is the Caribbean so many do not get to experience; Tortola and Heritage Inn are the best!

4.0 stars This was a wonderfully pleasant place to experience Tortola. Visited: December 2005

My husband and I stayed at the Heritage Inn during the last few days of our honeymoon. I had found Heritage Inn in a couple of guidebooks, and asked a friend of ours who lives in Tortola if she would recommend it. She highly recommended it, and we are grateful for her advice.

The restaurant was fabulous; the owner, Chris, was very hospitable; and the rooms were comfortable and functional. The view, as you will read in other reviews, was one of the best, and we enjoyed it every day and every evening.

I had read other reviews before going in which some people had complained about the noise of the nightly music by the pool, adjacent to the restaurant. We could hear the music in the front of our room/apt., but could not hear it in the bedroom or the bathroom (both in the back of the apt.). It was lively, fun music, but I could imagine that if my parents were there, they may have been bothered by it. We are in our mid-30s (if you are now wondering about our age range), and we rather enjoyed the music.

We met our friends from Tortola at the Bananakeet (the restaurant of the Heritage Inn) for drinks on the evening of December 26th. Although Chris was not going to open the restaurant because they had been open on Christmas Day, so many of us showed up, that she graciously opened the bar. It was very welcoming and comfortable here.

The kitchen was great, as well, because we like to cook some of our own meals when we are away - particularly after ten days of eating out for every meal!

We would definitely stay here again. If I had to come up with something not so flattering, I would say that the rooms could have been cleaner, and the water pressure stronger. But it could be that this aspect is where I become high-maintenance! I cannot say that it would have been different or better somewhere else.

In summary, Heritage Inn was a perfect way to end our honeymoon, and we have fond memories of our stay there! I did not give it five stars only because I never give anything or anyplace five stars (except my husband, of course!).

5.0 stars We experienced two weeks of perfection. Visited: December 2005

If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, centrally located, quiet place to stay, and you also want the most amazing view in the world...the Heritage Inn is it!

We stayed at the Heritage Inn for two full weeks, and everything was perfect. We couldn't have been treated more kindly by Chris and the staff, as they all felt like "family." They routinely went the extra mile for us.

If you want quiet reflection, you never need to leave the grounds. While we did do a lot of that, we also rented a car, which came in handy for the frequent five-minute drive to Cane Garden Bay. There we found the best beach with wonderful restaurants, bars, a laundromat, and grocery store...everything we needed was right there.

At the Heritage Inn, it was always so quiet and catered to a relaxing and peaceful vacation. The view there was breathtaking and unbelievable...and we could sit for hours just marveling at the sights.

The Bananakeet Cafe cannot be beat as far as the setting, quality of food, friendly staff, and atmosphere. And it was right on the grounds.

We appreciated the full kitchen and air-conditioned bedroom. We have traveled quite a bit and found this place to be exceptionally clean.

The Heritage Inn felt like "home" and there is no question that we will be back!

From the time we stepped out of the cab and were greeted by Chris with "Welcome home!", to the time she told us they would miss us, it was awesome.

We said that a lot during our stay in Tortola. The view was outstanding, and the hospitality even better. The food at Bananakeet was always delicious - as well as the conversations we struck up with the locals.

The facility was clean, but a little aged. The beds were comfortable, and to us that was all that mattered. There were many great views of the island and it was a great base for island hopping. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful!

If you can't relax and let the stress of every day life drip off your soul here, you need to have your pulse checked because you must be clinically dead!

We stayed here for a week, and had a wonderful time.

Chris and her staff went out of their way to welcome us, treat us like family, and make sure our week in Tortola was special. She tracked down our lost luggage and got it delivered; suggested beaches for swimming and snorkeling; booked us on an amazing day sail; and helped us with driving directions and dinner reservations. We cannot thank her and her staff enough for all their help.

The view from our balcony of Carrot Bay and neighboring islands like St. Thomas and Jost Van Dyke was amazing. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished. It was a five-minute drive to Cane Garden Bay.

The Bananakeet Cafe was a wonderful place to sit by the pool, watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand, and then enjoy a wonderful meal in the warm evening.

I think we really lucked out when we found the Heritage Inn on the internet and booked our stay with them.

This is a great place to stay for several reasons.

The staff makes every effort to see that you are happy and comfortable, and sees to it that you will want to return.

The food in the resturant is always fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. The pool is a wonderful treat, also.

I can't stay away from here. Everything about it has kept me coming back - eight times in six years. The sunsets from the balcony or poolsideare are awesome. You won't be broke when you leave, either.

My next trip is already in the books.

The reason I would keep going back to Heritage Inn is because of Chris and her staff at Heritage. They make me feel like family.

The views are amazing, as well as the food from Bananakeet Cafe. The rooms and property are very clean, and just what you need if you do not want to spend a lot of money.

From the magnificent views from our balcony to the sumptuous dinners prepared by Chef John, there is nothing to say about the Heritage but WOW!

We came tired and weary from seven days aboard, and were able to relax and unwind under the care of the Heritage staff.

This is truly a place worth coming back to - and that is a promise.

We had a wonderful stay here.

From the gorgeous sunsets and atmosphere, to the poolside barbeque and exceptionally gracious staff, this place far exceeded our expectations.

We look foward to our return trip to Heritage Inn and the Bananakeet Cafe.

It was not a resort, and it was not a hotel. It was a place I could almost call home.

The gracious staff, the kitchenettes, the porch with a sweeping view of the sunsets, and the restaurant poolside made this place a dream.

If you would like to wake up each morning with an incredibly expansive, breathtaking view of Jost Van Dyke, Great and Little Tobago islands, St. Thomas, and the west end of Tortola, this could be the place for you to stay, especially if you are a dog lover.

The two resident mutts - Bozo and Dipsy - are usually on your balcony to greet you in the a.m., and in the lower parking lot when you return in the evening. They are exceptionally friendly and truly added enormous pleasure to our stay. Please be careful in the parking lot because they are small and can stray near your car.

The rooms on the property are far from deluxe, but they are compact, clean, and provide useful amenities such as a refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, stove, etc. There is a window air conditioner in the bedroom, also. The outer sitting area and kitchen could use more AC, but are not uncomfortably warm.

Chris, the manager, is extremely helpful. If you are staying in the lower rooms, try to get #9 on the end because the view is particularly stunning from its balcony.

Heritage Inn's location is excellent because of its proximity to the beaches, the main city Roadtown, and the West End where you clear customs.

I booked based on recommendations on this site, and I was right to do so.

The accommodation had been described as 'basic', but it was much better than this. We were surprised to find a decent sized bedroom, huge bathroom, lounge and kitchen and of course those great views we could see from the pictures!

All was spotlessly clean, with plenty of fresh linen and they had a very friendly staff.

We arrived on Sunday in time for drinks around the pool, and we ate in the restaurant twice which was excellent. You do need a car, but can arrange easily. It was in a great location for exploring Tortola, but also day trips to Jost.

I will definitely stay here again when returning!

I received great hospitality from the staff and Ms. Washburn. There were amazing views from the rooms and restaurant.

Food and drink were wonderful. Also, they had the best Bushwacker on all of Tortola.

I will return to the Inn. It is my new favorite place in the BVI.
