Tamarind Club Hotel, The - Tortola, BVI

The newly reopened and renovated Tamarind Club Hotel is situated on the north side of Tortola, on a lush tropical hillside. Josiah's Bay, one of the BVI's most beautiful beaches, is located just a short distance away. The site is secluded, elegant and intimate with your every need being attended by Dawn and her professional staff. The dress is as informal and relaxed as the atmosphere, for this is a place truly designed for "getting away from it all."

The entire complex, including the hotel, villas and on site condominiums, centers around a lovely fresh water pool, with a "swim-up" bar, and a first class restaurant serving some of the best cuisine in the BVI. There is a lovely covered bar and seating area between the dining area and the pool, all with open walls and cascading plants. You really won't need an agenda here but arrangements can be made for any of the activities that are available, either on land or sea, anywhere on Tortola.

The rooms are comfortable and cheery and are decorated in soft pastel Caribbean colors, with air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Each has a phone, refrigerator, balcony, tile floors in both the bedroom and bath, rattan furniture, a full length mirror and a large, shelved four door closet. The rooms and restaurant reflect Dawn's flair for island style design that she has developed from her years of travel and working in the resort business. Each unit also has individual latticework for privacy and jalousie windows that look out onto some of the most beautiful tropical gardens in the BVI. Flowers abound everywhere as do palms, ivy, tamarinds, bananas and elephant ears.

Diving, sailing, windsurfing and adventure packages are available. Bring several books as you will probably want to lounge by the pool and chill out after a day out. The Tamarind is surrounded with trees so there is always somewhere shady to park yourself and read. You can be assured that you will return home rested after a visit at the Tamarind.
