My wife and I hosted our wedding reception at The Sugar Mill in 2005, so it will always be a special place for us, but we recently stayed there again with two other couples after a bareboat charter. My wife and I, and our guests could not have been happier. Everything about the Sugar Mill Hotel is special, and nothing will disappoint. The setting, on Apple Bay on Tortola's northwest shore, is idyllic and one of the most quiet areas on the island. The view across to Jost Van Dyke is fantastic and Apple Bay boasts one of the best surf breaks in the BVI, adding great sound to the scenery.
The hotel and Mill house blend perfectly into the hillside and the rooms (the pool rooms are spectacular) are well-appointed without being stuffy. The staff is attentive and very accommodating and it was impressive to see that several of the staff remembered us from our wedding. Such attention is a tribute to Liz Humphrey, the hotel administrator, who also took the time to personally welcome us back.
If you are looking for a lot of activity, this is not the place. If you want to unplug and relax, The Sugar Mill can’t be beat.
We already look forward to our next stay at The Sugar Mill.

Rock Cafe, Virgin Gorda, BVI traveler review
They have an excellent piano bar at night. Visited: November 1999 |

This is such a fun place! They have live music most nights, and the piano player is incredible. The group is a mixture between people off of the boats and the other tourists on the island.
The food is okay, but they have a nice atmosphere. It is definitely a place to visit at night. |

They have the best casual food on the island. Visited: November 1999 |

This place has a fun atmosphere and a beautiful view of the island. It is a casual restaurant, but the food is outstanding! The service is prompt, and the prices are reasonable.
The local island people dine here, too, so it is not a tourist trap. |

This is one of the few fine dining restaurants on the island.
The food is tasty, and the atmosphere is beautiful. It is definitely one of the best on Virgin Gorda. The lunch menu is nice, and you can find something for everyone.
The dinner is to die for, and they have a nice wine menu. |

Olde Yard Village, Virgin Gorda, BVI traveler review
This was a fun place to stay! Visited: July 2008 |

We had such a great time at the Old Yard Inn!
The rooms were clean, and the grounds were beautiful. Our room was a two- bedroom/two-bath with all of the amenities we could ask for. There was flat screen TV, iPod docking station, plush towels and brand new furniture.
The resort was just painted, and the grounds were very well maintained.
The tennis courts were free, too. The wireless access was a little sketchy, but we got a clear signal at the pool. We stayed during a Puerto Rican holiday, and Virgin Gorda was hopping.
This was a very well maintained resort, and reasonably priced considering some of the other properties on the island.
The restaurant on site had great food, too! We would definitely come back with our kids next time. |

Necker Island, Necker Island, BVI traveler review
This is the most amazing place for a kid. Visited: July 2007 |

This trip was, by far, the most fantastic place I have been to. We came here to celebrate my grandfather's 70th Birthday. As an 11-year-old kid, I have never been anywhere like this (along with the 21 members of my family who went).
I made best friends with the chefs, and they let me cook with them for an entire day. And the staff will take you anywhere you want, and would do whatever you need.
I would recommend this island for very rich people, because it is expensive. It was an absolutely unforgettable trip, though. |

We had a wonderful stay at the Sugar Mill Hotel. Visited: June 2008 |

My husband and I stayed at the Sugar Mill Hotel for three nights in June. We stayed in the upper level Plantation Suite.
The staff was helpful and friendly. The grounds were beautiful, and there was a nice beach across the street. I thought the landscaping was lovely - with lots of pretty flowers and lush trees.
Our room was very accommodating and clean. It was a large open room with a separate area that included a couch and chairs, and a large bed on the back wall.
The bathroom was nice and big, with a large shower and two sinks. It also had a little kitchen area with microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. My favorite thing was the balcony with a hammock and a beautiful view of Jost Van Dyke and Apple Bay.
The dinners at the restaurant were nothing short of fantastic. From the delicious appetizers all the way through the wonderful entrees and finally the fresh desserts, it was some of the best food I've ever tasted.
We have been to many different places in the Caribbean, and the Sugar Mill was by far our favorite. We will be returning as soon as possible! |

Maria's has friendly staff and is a quiet accommodation. Visited: September 2007 |

I stayed at Maria's By The Sea Hotel September 2007, when I visited the island to witness the Miss Caribbean World Pageant. I found the staff at the front desk to be extremly helpful and friendly, and I was even given a room I did not pay for.
I can and would recommend anyone going to Tortola to stay at Maria's, because it is easy to get around from the hotel, and the staff is always willing to give information and to answer questions.
I met the owner. She was a very nice person. Also, I met two of the daughters who work at the hotel, and they were really nice ladies.
I would say stay at Maria's, but make your own judgement, because everyone sees things differently.
Keep up the good work and continue to make your guests happy and comfortable. |

This place is worth the drive! The food is fantastic, and it is one of the only places on the island that understands fine dining in the Caribbean. Hands down, it is the best place on the island.
Little Dix on Monday is good, and Sugar Mill is also good. Nail Bay has a great lunch, too. Dinner at Leverick Bay should not be missed, though. |

I absolutely loved Old Yarde Inn. They have freshly painted everything, and the workout room was great.
The apartment we had was wonderful! We stayed in Building #4, and everything was new and clean. The property was maintained immaculately, and it was very peaceful and calm. We sat and looked at the ocean from our deck.
Our room was clean and decorated with a simple and modern twist. The food at lunch was superb, too. I would go back again! |

Wow, what a great place to stay on vacation! Guava Road was so comfortable, and so close to great beaches and restaurants. Sebastian's is a must!
My fiance and I absolutely loved the accommodations, and Pat and Alphonso really made us feel at home.

Alphonso and Pat are the perfect hosts, and give every effort to making your stay enjoyable and easy! You'll be as sorry to leave them behind as you are the BVI.
The accommodations are comfortable and large - but cozy. Every small touch or extra has been thought of, especially tons of beach towels - which is so useful with the beautiful beaches nearby.
Be sure to see Long Bay's beach!

It was not great, either.
The last time we were here (two years ago), it was excellent. This time we were disappointed.
They served less than great food at great cost. |

Saba Wind, Virgin Gorda, BVI traveler review
It was delightful! Visited: May 2008 |

Saba Wind provided glorious views - none of the pics on any of the web sites we found did this place justice.
They had great breezes, excellent maid service, and the furniture appeared new. The kitchen was well stocked, and everything worked.
The only reason for one less than five stars was the noise from the resort. They usually shut it down by 10 pm, though. It really wasn't a problem, as long as you get in the mood ahead of time and enjoy their music rather than your own.
We'll be going back - we hope! |

This was our third stay at the Magic Castle Villa at Little Bay. We loved this place, and dream about it in the "off" season.
It is a truly spiritual place: gorgeous views, great amenities, privacy, and total relaxation. It is off the beaten path, which makes it even more attractive.
Eva is a most gracious host, and we are so thankful to have found her and her beautiful home. If you're looking for a special spot - this place is it! |

Heritage Inn, Tortola, BVI traveler review
This was just what we wanted. Visited: April 2008 |

We have visited Tortola for eight years now, and often stay at a hotel before we check into our rental villa. We have stayed at numerous places around the island, and this year we stayed at Heritage Inn.
What a treat. It was a great place. Chris and her staff were friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive. Our room was clean, neat, and comfortable. Also, the view was one of the best in the islands.
If you are looking for a day or two, or a week or two - you won't be disappointed here. Enjoy this beautiful spot! |

Boulder Crest, Virgin Gorda, BVI traveler review
It is outstanding! Visited: April 2008 |

This is one of the most stunning villas my wife and I have ever stayed in - and we will almost certainly be back. The views are amazing, and the amenities in the villa are superb. As a previous reviewer mentioned, there are trees around the property - but this just adds to the privacy (which is one of the key features of Boulder Crest).
There is a lovely beach just below the villa ( a five-minute walk or two- minute drive) where we saw only two other people the whole time we were here. We spent several days there just snorkeling off of that beach. One of the added bonuses is Boulder Crest has a huge chest of snorkel gear available, along with some beach chairs.
The maid service was impeccable, and the house was exceptionally clean every time they visited.
We can't wait to go back. Boulder Crest is great! |

service, British Virgin Islands traveler review
It was better than a bus tour! Visited: November 1999 |

I had the privilege of going on a guided scooter tour with Island Rydes, and it was amazing. I enjoyed the freedom of not having to worry about being squeezed up between people on a bus, and the wind blowing in my hair. It was just amazing!
The service was excellent. They were very polite and helpful. It was not all about the money. |
